Wouldn’t hurt to remove and repack the wheel bearings before it gets full and locks up on you as you are moving it. My opinion, great videos and jobs. Stay safe and healthy y’all!👍
Wheel bearings on these type of wagons are so neglected. I'm just as guilty with mine. I always forget to do them until one fails. They always fail with a full load too it seems.
Evan: C’mon man: Value-$350 to restored value $1,500(minimum), spiritual value-priceless, you have renewed, restored, resurrected, in us the viewership, and ignited a spirit similarly to not only objects but people.this sense of making things better in the world for one another is priceless. Thankyou, you are a true blessing from God!
I still feel that you had a great deal on the first feeder. For a little bit of work you have a feeder that will last at least 20 years if you maintain it (as you seem to do). If you work out how much money you will have saved in feed costs over the time it will last, then I think your in the money big time. Because you fixed it the right way you will have years of ease of mind because you know it was done right. If the other one has some silicone in it, well remove it and do what you did to the first one. A few hours spent now will save you days later on and that is without the cost of spoilt feed due to a tacky repair. Pete will be happy with the first feeder. Thanks for posting
You did a great job on the first feed wagon Evan. In a few years to come the work you have done will pay off. With the second wagon you will be cleaning out the old silicon in a couple of tears. Weld plates on the second one and respray it as you did with the first. You will then have two wagons that you can look at with pride. It's only a few more hours labour and a few dollars for extra materials. Having watched your videos for the past two years I can tell you are a stickler for perfection. It will be well worth the extra time and money.... with pride.
That's the fabricator in you doing more than expected and from my point of view that is definitely a good thing. I'll lay odds that more work on the green bin will be coming.
Great job 👍 Silicone is being lazy. Fix it right, and be done with it. I was impressed with the way you fixed the first one. Do the same to the second. Leave the silly Silicone to the weekend worriers. You have the shop and the know how to do it right . Be proud of your self. You're amazingly talented keep up the good work 👍
The red wagon was fixed up real nice, honestly, it looks great and will last many years with the repairs you made. You'll be able to walk past it all the time now and say to yourself "I did that" and know that it was fixed properly, and not with silicone.
Stop and think for a minute, you just saved a piece of antique farm equipment from going to the scrappers. Nice restoration job. Keep it up. Take a bow for what you did in 5 days, Brian in Canada
That rusty old gravity wagon is going to be more value to you because of the content it provides. I enjoyed watching you fix it up. Keep on bringing us content like this!
My father always said “that a job worth doing is worth doing well from the Beginning!!! he would’ve been very proud of you for the job you did on the red wagon even though I know you’re frustrated right now for the money and time you spent but when I look at that wagon and when I watched you working on the wagon I watched a man who took pride in his work. I’ve seen a lot of men who have “jerry-rigged” & “patched”Their projects together & THEY LOOKED TERRIBLE!!!!!!! Your RED WAGON LOOKS BRAND NEW 😊❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️♥️ SO IMPRESSIVE♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Anybody would be happy to buy that wagon from you in the condition it looks compared as a green wagon. Honestly I think when you have let a little time go by you will be very proud as a red wagon and over the years you will definitely be proud of the red wagon!!❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ You did a very precise and thorough job and I was super impressed with the materials you used in the techniques. I was on a farm and a lot of times we didn’t have the money to do things right in the beginning and then as dad had more money I learned the difference not only between money but taking the time to do it correctly and I learned so much from him versus other men particularly some son-in-law‘s Who wouldn’t be bothered and couldn’t be bothered to do things correctly and so I am just majorly over the top impressed with the job you get on this red wagon and I want you to feel very good about yourself and the time and the skills you have to do what you did to make this scruffy looking wagon look BRAND NEW❣️ Truly IN LOVE w/ THIS RED WAGON OVERHAUL❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️
Yes, you could have purchased a new feed but I think you do enjoy the challenge of refurbishing something old and making it new again. The look of "I Did It" is priceless!
I think you did the right thing on the red wagon. Welding in metal replacement strips will last longer than silicone the holes. Even on the green wagon welding in material is a much smarter thing than siliconing the holes. That the difference between someone with a welder than one without a welder. You got tool then use it to make the correct repair.
We built our own feed bins from concrete blocks..One 25 ton bin,,and one 5 ton bin...We have a artic load at a time.. Which if we were to buy 1 ton at a time£220.. As opposed to £175 a ton bulk... Lasts about 8-10 weeks..Roughly.. Liked this video. 💯👍👍💯👍
A job very well done! You are correct in some aspects, but you can take pride in what it took to complete it. Not everyone can do what it takes, you showed us. One of the best videos you’ve done. Keep them coming our way, I’d say Pete would be impressed! 😁
I've bought or been given alot of stuff over the years to repair and use or sell, sometimes it works out with little effort, sometimes it's oh crap, thankfully you have the ability, equipment and facility to make the repairs, great video.
Nice work, you are very good at bringing old farm equipment back to life. How was the running gear? Tires ,bearings and lug nuts are always a problem. You know these things will fail when it's loaded.
You can never go wrong by over building. If it takes two nails put three screws in it. My opinion is you should paint the green one now before putting it into service. Will be better in the long haul. Keep doing it. Enjoy you videos. By the way, your wife is a real trooper and excellent helper.
Sometimes the delivery charge can be pricey. I use the super bags that they fill with seed. Some feed/seed areas will give you them. You can put 1500# in each one, use your pallet forks to pick it up and dump it in. Could save you a bunch of money.
Great job on the wagon but I have 2 suggestions. Number one and best is to paint the inside bed (no need to paint the vertical parts) with Slip-plate or similar Teflon based paint. It will let the feed slid out SO much easier. Number 2 suggestion would have been to put a steeper roof on the wagon to help it shed the snow load. I think you did a great job repairing the bed and door.
It does seem like 5 days is a big investment, with all the other work that goes into farming. But the ten years you'll get back from all that work really will pay off. Fun to watch the transformation of the wagon, Evan. Thanks for sharing the process with us!
You'll be happier with the one you fixed. The green one is still going to need paint and silicone is a temporary fix at best. You'll find that it's pulled loose and leaked when you start seeing wet/moldy feed after pulling it to the feed lot a few times.
Great job on the restoration of the feed wagon, I really enjoy all of your videos, the skills used as well as the work it takes to produce your high quality content thanks for sharing
Great video. enjoyed watching the bin come back to a new life. My two favorite shows - Country View Acres and Just a Few Acres Farm. Both of you are very talented - and easy to listen to.
great video. I have the same type set up. couple of suggestions. 1 check the wheelbesrings in both of them they may be good. I didn't one of mine was shot and didn't find out till it was full of feed. then again it's cheaper for me to pull to the feed mill rather than have them charge me for delivery. 2 when I made my roof which I did alot like you did and the wagon was filled with feed the sides expanded which caused my pt lumber to come apart at the screws. I got my router and cut slots and replaced with bolts to allow the wood to ride on the bolt when the chains were tight and as the load lowered the lumber was able to move in the groove......wish I would have thought about it I would have made it out of emt like your second trailer
Next time u spray a big area get a 515 spray tip for your gun. It’s called a barn spray tip. Depending on your distance from the surface you an get a 10 to 12 inch pattern. Speeds up spraying large areas outside.
Time versus money, I know, it's a hard one but wow Evan, you do such good quality work. I prefer the red wagon to the $500 green one. Got to be proud of that end result it's awesome. Saw this first on Instagram and finally caught the video. Great job.
Big Red will be more centamental, we all know, whenever we have blood sweat, and tears in something, we appreciate it more. Good job and a great asset to the farm.
That came out really good. don;t focus on the hours you put into it but rather the pride of repairing it and putting it back in service, plus you were able to film a cool youtube video.
Evan, Congratulations on your channel hitting 100k!!! I heard your channel mentioned on Pete's channel(Just a Few Acres) and now you are on your way! Good Luck to You and Rebecca.
A Tyvek suit and pressure washer extensions, (2 in package from Amazon), when I pressure wash the house siding or other messy jobs. The extensions give you about three more feet and the suit save's your clothes. You will find the snap in extensions very helpful. I purchased a second package to aid in cleaning gutters. GREAT VIDEO and GREAT HELPER. Some spouses would not be interested. Give thanks, that yours is.
I really enjoy watching you work on this kind of project for two reasons 1) You are a very talented fabricator 2) You don't cut corners! You need not apologize for the one thing that makes you special and that most people enjoy; and it's that you never just half way do a job; I admire that!
Pete at Just A few Acres Farms will approve of that color. Evan great job. You always go above and beyond on your projects. It is great You Tube content
Amazing job. You really deserve this beautiful for ever homestead. Your skills and content motivates this 62 year old to continue building a Yrban Homestead. Love from Africa.😇😇🤗🤗🇿🇦
Don't be to hard on yourself. Evan. It is a great investment. To rebuild that feed wagon. I love it. Red and shiny. Last a long time too. Great job 👏👍❤😎💪👀🚜🐃🐖😋
I see it a little different. Yes, the second one was a great deal, but the first one you spent time on it, and by that took ownership of it. You turned something rough, into a great wagon. To me, that’s worth tons of value. Either way my friend, great video, and as always, you do great work. Love your videos. God Bless.
You might not think it a good deal but what a before and after. Your washing machine must also have been working overtime! You’re a champion labourer Rebekah.
As I watched this amazing transformation and your skills Evan, I thought about a future of you doing this for others, possibly after retirement if not a little before, since new equipment is very expensive and you have a unique skillset of repairing, transforming and extending the life of warn out equipment, for many more years. I'm sure there are many farmers in that area who have the skills, but maybe not the time to do this kind of transformation to older equipment, and it would be a win, win for you and them, with them saving money and you making money, on things like this. And now you have a video to show, or before and after pictures, and what you can do. Nice impromptu air show!
You actually did very good! I understand the extra expense and your time and labor, but you have a piece of equipment that is very functional and you know what condition it is in. It will probably last longer than the second unit you bought, and looks a whole lot better. Restoration and really be a better way to go. Good job!
Man, this is the way to go, when I first started share farming I started with crap gear and got fun out of fixing and repairing it, saved alot of money this way as I could not afford new or near new equipment. Its good to stand back when you have finished it and look at your achievement, Great stuff.
I had a mechanic tell me once "You are buying something used. . . Something is going to need fixing." You did a great job that you can be proud of every time you walk by it.
only good thing about a project like that is it becomes yours. you know the ins and the outs and what is good and bad and you have a lot of time vested in it. Hopefully, because of that, it becomes your favorite wagon of the two. Hopefully the running gear and your roof turn out to be better than the other one and this one turns out to be worth the effort. fingers crossed.
On you tube with "Just A Few Acres Farm" Pete has 2 of these storage grain wagons. What he used for the roof cover was a heavy Vinyl . They do not leak and last a long time and do not cause condensation. That weave plastic you are using will not last. Good Video Evan, and the time and effort you took to proper repair. I like the colour. All farm tractors and implements should be red,
I love your videos but this is probably the best yet. With your skills, you should "properly" repair the second bulk wagon and forget silicon. Do the job properly and you'll have two feed wagons that will last for years and years and require virtually no maintenance. Perhaps it would be a good idea to look at the running gear whilst the wagons are empty.
Your metal fabricating is awesome! You go above and be you d with everything you do! That’s a great thing!! I know it took a while but enjoyed the vlog
That’s a good deal Evan. Around here we see those John Deere 943,953, 963 wagons bring around 700 for the frame. I’m an farmall man but those are the best running gears in my own opinion. It will serve you well. Yours looks like a 953 or 963. Have a good one.
As a farmer, I like the wagon you fixed up best. You will appreciate it more in the long run. Nice job. Quit beating yourself up.
Awesome job
Wouldn’t hurt to remove and repack the wheel bearings before it gets full and locks up on you as you are moving it. My opinion, great videos and jobs. Stay safe and healthy y’all!👍
Great suggestion. And while the wheels are off, he could paint the rims. Make it look "purty"! LOL
Wheel bearings on these type of wagons are so neglected. I'm just as guilty with mine. I always forget to do them until one fails. They always fail with a full load too it seems.
I am in constant awe at your skill level, be it electrical, welding, carpentry, fabricating, fence building, and mechanical.
Yes I agree. Reuse and recycle for the win. ♻️💚
I think you have a better wagon for having done what you did. I think silicone is a stop gap measure. You have a far more substantial wagon now!
I still feel that you had a great deal on the first feeder. For a little bit of work you have a feeder that will last at least 20 years if you maintain it (as you seem to do). If you work out how much money you will have saved in feed costs over the time it will last, then I think your in the money big time. I agree 100%
You do such fine work...how much of a part of the job is Prayer???
I shall continue to watch future videos...Thank You...
Auction buys have a way of teaching us lessons. Hopefully we remember them next time we’re bidding. Unfortunately amnesia seems to run in my family.

Great job! And also, a very interesting video! 😊😊😊 The only concern I have for the second wagon is it's not fire engine red!! 🤔
No be cheap.... I love to watch you work and the red one is so pretty........Great job!
Great job 👍 Silicone is being lazy. Fix it right, and be done with it. I was impressed with the way you fixed the first one. Do the same to the second. Agree 100 percent. An decal? Country View Acres on the back end. Love it
I agree 💯!! Do it right now so you don't have to do it when you're old and maybe cant
And add a slow moving vehicle sign. Repack those bearings and make sure its road worthy when its loaded.
@@kd5inm I have gotten the impression that with the delivered feed it won't see any road time.
@@dwightl5863 I bet Evan will be pulling it around the farm.

Even though you felt the feed wagon wasn't a good deal, you are blessed to be able to have the skills and equipment to fix it so it will last.
Sure is nice to watch you take a mess and clean it up and make it useful
Evan you are a great crafts man You always impress

Evan great job my friend, you have the ability and know how to fix things. Great video, keep up the good work. 👍 Rebecca makes a great set of hands
Wagon looks fantastic! When you just laid back in the wagon covered in rust dust and sighed…I felt that. Hard work!

Even congratulations on 100,000 subscribers. That is awesome and before you know it you will be at 250,000 .
Personally I think you not only got a good buy but you and your mrs did a first class job of fixing it up.
The one you repaired looks better than the other one
Great restoration Evan. Looks really good.
I like the one you fixed up better.
Don't be to hard on yourself. Evan. It is a great investment. To rebuild that feed wagon. I love it. Red and shiny. Last a long time too. Great job 👏👍❤😎💪👀🚜🐃🐖😋
Great footwork. Nice save of an old piece of equipment.
You are definitely the handiest man. I looks really good. I like how you painted it red to match your other equipment.
Evan you should put flasher lights on the back if you plan to go down the road You can buy them with magnets to stick on back , they run on batteries
Great restoration job! Well done!
I am constantly being amazed at your ingenuity. Superb attribute
Good morning. ☕
It's good to have food supplies on hand. Bulk is usually cheaper. 👍👍
Congratulations on reaching 100,000 subscribers. This is a good channel with great content.
As I watched this amazing transformation and your skills Evan, I thought about a future of you doing this for others, possibly after retirement if not a little before, since new equipment is very expensive and you have a unique skillset of repairing, transforming and extending the life of warn out equipment, for many more years. You actually did very good! I understand the extra expense and your time and labor, but you have a piece of equipment that is very functional and you know what condition it is in. It will probably last longer than the second unit you bought, and looks a whole lot better. Restoration and really be a better way to go. Good job!
Great job Evan....It sure would look pretty with "white" painted wheels!!!!!!!
WOW looks great, Now you no what you have! I do the same as you I buy cheap and fix it up too! Great job Evan and Rachel!
Man, this is the way to go, when I first started share farming I started with crap gear and got fun out of fixing and repairing it, saved alot of money this way as I could not afford new or near new equipment. Nice interesting video Evan. Your handyman skills never ceases to amaze me 👍
Great job Evan, the farmer coming out in ya👍👌
It looked pretty banged up first, but it now looks very good and will serve its purpose for many years because of the work put in!
I had a mechanic tell me once "You are buying something used. . . Something is going to need fixing." You did a great job that you can be proud of every time you walk by it.
Wow! Good you know how to do all that and have the tools needed! Sure turned out pretty! It will last a long while!
Evan you are amazing. I love the way you will tackle any job. A farmer has to be a jack of all trades. Good job./
Hello cousin?
I like the red one better. It made great video and I love the channel you two have keep up the good work.
Congrats on the100K subscribers, Guys.
Good job man, love the way you hooked it up to the truck. Nice to see I’m not the only one that has had to do that. lol
Loved the “ballet” move at the beginning! 😂
Not going to Lie, the Feed wagon you rebuilt, looks far more interesting, than the one you didn't.
I like your style.
Glad you were able to recover it in the end - looks like it should last a while now.
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!
only good thing about a project like that is it becomes yours. you know the ins and the outs and what is good and bad and you have a lot of time vested in it. Do the job properly and you'll have two feed wagons that will last for years and years and require virtually no maintenance. Perhaps it would be a good idea to look at the running gear whilst the wagons are empty.
GOOD JOB!!!
Your projects are so entertaining and I really appreciate your approach to problem solving. You are a master at it.
Stretch Legstrong! Amazing improvement, but lesson well-learned ...
I love all your projects 👍👍& you're lovely, Vanna White.
Your metal fabricating is awesome! You go above and be you d with everything you do! That’s a great thing!! I know it took a while but enjoyed the vlog
Great video. you did a great job the wagon will last for year's and the other was a steal, just awesome thank you for shearing that.
lessons learned the hard way is often the best teacher , job well done !!!
That’s a good deal Evan. Around here we see those John Deere 943,953, 963 wagons bring around 700 for the frame. I’m an farmall man but those are the best running gears in my own opinion. It will serve you well. Yours looks like a 953 or 963. Have a good one.
Awesome guys. Looks new all painted.
Hard work, determination, and no-how is what it takes to get what you need. You show these traits in most of your videos…..awesome job, well done!
