This is so true! My husband was a tattoo artist and I told him if I start crying, keep going, but if I say stop, please stop...sometimes you just have to take a break.
My tics have never been super bad, generally confinded to just my head, but they usually pop up when I get nervous. When I go in for tattoos, I don't really notice any tics at all. I enjoy the experience of getting tattooed, and watching the process is honestly just so cool that every other thought completely leaves my head. My tics get significantly better when I am being tattooed. I feel like a good portion of this is that I trust my artist. Find someone that you can trust, that understands your needs.
I don't have tourettes but it's super normal to have your body twitch while being tattooed so I just tell my artist to stop if I feel like I'm going to twitch and I've only not seen it coming once it's totally normal for anyone to need that break.
my cs tattoo artist has tourettes ... he knew when he needed breaks but occasionally accidentally ticked regarding peoples tattoo requests- particularly "tramp stamp". he is very well known and his artistry is legendary so usually they do not mind and everyone has a good laugh
That’s actually so cool also that he was chill about it. Like I have a lot of “disabilities” that I don’t get accommodated for and it bugs me but I’m glad that some people do get the accommodations they need (I put the disabilities in quotations because I wouldn’t call them that but that’s what they are referred to as. Autism, adhd, misophonia.)
Anybody reading this?... Know that a tattoo is literally a design of someone else's art that you may not like in a few years, Do not permanently destroy your body! Go pick up BIC Henna pens! You do not put a bumper sticker on a Lamborghini! Your body is a Lamborghini!
i giggled at “ticcy community”, thanks for this video. i’ve felt a lot more comfortable thanks to people like you being open on the internet about tourette’s. it’s really helpful to see this kind of content 🫶

Is the Tourette community called ticcy tok or tikky tube?
(This is a general question and has no intention of throwing shade or being rude 🩷)
As a person with Tourette’s I’ve never heard “ticcy tok” but I love it 💀
No
We do not refer to it as that..?
I’ve never heard of that but I personally love it because it encapsulates not just people with Tourette’s, but. Anyone with tics, diagnosed or not
“ticcy community” is just something i say that’s quicker than saying “tourette syndrome and other tic disorders community”! haha

That's very nice for you!!
My dads tattoo artist has worked with many people with Tourette’s and he has learned when someone is about to tick and stops till the tick is over
