I appreciate these guys viewing their reviews as a responsibility. Like i dont have all the tactical stuff. I have a backlog of stuff to buy so when i buy, thats it for YEARS.

I'm not sure I get Brass Facts' reasoning on 308. He said 77gr has the same drop as 308, so they offer similar performance at range. Yes, 77gr will drop at a similar rate as some loadings of 308, but that's a constant variable we can rely on, wind is not. 308 is less effected by wind, that's what makes it better at range, that and the fact that at 500 yards it will roughly have the energy of 5.56 from the muzzle. If drop was the main concern, 55gr would be chosen over 77gr for long range.

How important the strength of a cartridge at range is pretty debatable, I think outside of self defense distances a causality is generally about as good as a kill, but it's fair to disagree with that. .308 comes with a bunch of other downsides that may or may not be as important as bucking wind. Cartridge weight and price (especially for rounds that actually group well) is much higher than 5.56 and the .308 rifle platforms are less developed than the ar-15.

@curgunner Good points for a .308 vs 5.56 debate, which could go on forever, but it ignores the point I was making specifically about the thing he said here. It came off as though the two had similar performance at range when they only do in terms of drop rate.

On "pinning the trigger", if it makes you faster, more accurate, and less likely to miss, it may be a hill worth dying on. Especially in a profession where things like that could be life changing.
It's also easier to learn the right way than it is to unlearn the wrong way and relearn what's correct.

@Mitsurugi2424 I have only seen pinning turn shooters slow and less accurate because they end up focusing on the reset versus the sights.

I relate with Hop so much 😂 just this is what it is. If you don’t like it. Cope and seethe. It is what it is and I have zero emotional attachment to dogma or whatever BS. It is what it is. Moving on. 😂😂 that’s exactly my mindset about this stuff.

I think condensing Info to bite sized blurbs will be the death of intelligence. We live where almost anything we could want to know is at out fingertips, bit it doesn't even occur to most to look for it. I know there is a happy medium and we don't was 7 hour presentations on an optic. But if you assimilate your content to fit with a generation giving themselves ADD, you're only perpetuating the issue.
I legitimately has a 23 year old ask me how to change a tire because they didn't want to skim a 5 minute YT video on it or seek an article on Google. I see other similar things constantly.
TikToks and YT shorts are cancer.
