A few years ago on the East Coast between Ingoldmells and Skegness I was walking along the sea front from Ingoldmells to the 24 hour garage at Skegness, half way there is a golf course, the moon was out and my night vision was alert, on one of the greens there was a fully mature Black cat, massive, I was with a friend and we both watched in fear as this cat stalked something it had seen, we watched for a minute at least and then made a hasty retreat both in shock and fear, we walked the main road way back, nobody believes this story but we will remember ir for rest of our lives

i saw a big black cat in the north east of the uk around the size of a rotweiler it was around 4am coming home from a mates house i had to cross the field of a community sports centre when from behind a 5 ft gridded fence walked the "panther" its sillhouette was unmistakable as this thing was around 20ft away and back lit from street lamps it stopped and turned to face me we stared at each other for maybe 10 seconds and thats when i noticed its rounded ears and thick tail and i could see its shoulders as it lowered itself as it stopped to look before it walked thirty feet or so then jogged into the next fields trees. i reported it to police and they later confirmed 2 more sightings in towns either side of my town and a sheep mauling. this was early in the 2000's.This was in stockton on tees

I saw a large black cat the size of an adult male leopard. But it's tail was shorter like that of a jaguar. Where the sun was shining on it's back, I could see a reddish tint to it's fur (which is a trait of melanistic leopards and jaguars) It was walking along the edge of a field near junction 10 (Reading, Berkshire) on the M4 motorway back in 2006.
My mother's friend had a very close encounter with what she called a 'skinny lioness' (puma) back in the early 2000s, near the Thames river where Eton meets Windsor. Said she was sat on a bench with her eyes closed meditating, when she suddenly felt she was being watched. So she opens her eyes, and sees this big brown cat walk across the clearing from one patch of woodland into the other, all the while staring at her. She was left shaken by the encounter, and refused to go walking in that area alone again.
My mum saw a large grey cat as it was getting dark near Slough (next to the Langley country park). Said it was the size of a large german shepherd and was walking along the road as she drove up to it. As her car got near, it suddenly jumped off the road and bounded away towards the woods in the darkness.

I watched one for a good 10 minutes through binoculars back in the 90s. Was a big one too! I was on holiday with the family in Cornwall. We were at the bottom end of a theme park and the wife and 2 boys were on rides. I was at a fence, the edge of the park, with the little girl asleep in the buggy.
The cat was about 500 yds away. It jumped over a fence and walked through a hedgerow into a field. It then laid down catching the sun.
As soon as my wife came back, I told them we're leaving!! And we did!

I’d think night vision would be better option. vids I’ve seen : larger leopard w/ long tail. Are the species from Africa and South America or Asia - India etc different in size and nature? These cats if released by rich would have been fed raw meat. Their prey live., perhaps. Dont leopards kill prey and pull them up unto trees? Tracking dogs work for cougars ,but 2ould they work for exotic cats? How do natives capture them? Mt Lion- cougars sound like screaming woman. Exotics ? Only common denominator is their cats . How large is their radius for hunting territory? Just friendly queries? I haven’t studied any traits just a curious documentary watcher. Cougars have infiltrated into communities that are naive of their nature. Joggers, hikers attacked, even vids showing them wondering up onto neighborhoods and homes patios searching for food ( pets) versus staying in high country. Like you said , “ fast food “
Very interesting video. I’m glad I popped in. Thank you.

we had full grown sheep killed and vets reported that the cause of death for all was strangulation by a bite around the throat and claw marks across the belly. some carcasses were flayed. the vet report conclusion was a large non indigenous feral cat.

Scotland 2005 my cousin & I were driving on a very cold night around 11pm, we were going to see a relative. We were on a very quiet country road & we turned a corner & on the middle of the road eating roadkill was a very large black cat. The headlights hit its eyes & it jumped to the grass verge & disappeared. Absolutely beautiful it was & we could not believe what we had just seen. When we got to our relatives who lived near by, he was not surprised to hear what we had seen him being a local. I'm no expert but to me this was a large black panther, I feel very privileged to have seen such a beautiful creature here in Scotland.

Enjoyed your video thx. I was in the forces & saw a big cat with a bunch of other squaddies near Ullapool in about 1993. Just saw the shadow leap from a field across the road into another field but it was a lynx size. Have been interested in UK sightings ever since. Went to Canada years ago & spoke to a mountie who said he hadn't seen a cougar alive in 20 yrs & that's common. Sightings are pretty rare but they do get the occasional road-kill. Cats are so elusive with their heightened senses there is no need for them to show themselves with the abundance of easy prey catch we have here. I believe in the US there are beginning to be more sightings or interactions with people in certain areas because they are coming into closer contact with humans encroaching on their habitat. Not sure if all of what I'm saying is 100% correct, I'm no expert, just anecdotal opinion 👍

Far more correct than the plethora of black panther sightings in the comments here, or the :tracks" so easily found by the expert sleuth, yet without any good supporting evidence, and with the bloopers not edited out. Trump hasn't a monopoly on fake news and disciples to the cause in full believer mode.
The topic is compelling though, and occasionally a snippet with some credibility does occur, like thylacines and bigfoots. But mostly it's testament to the gullibility and/or stupidity of the planet's dominant ape species.

    • @firesha-x
      @firesha-x หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Maybe the more common sightings are from them breeding? They are very territorial and cubs will have to find their own territory once old enough. I honestly think thats why sightings are more common now in the UK. If their mother/fathers home is in deep woodland/secluded areas their young will have to venture further away hence closer to towns/villages.

Go back some 40 odd years and one warm summer's night, I saw something at 0130 hrs in the morning.
I was in my MG MIdget with the roof down as it was warm _(Even if it was cold but dry, I'd take the roof down. No point having a convertible in the UK if you're going to wait for those 4 days when it's sunny to go topless?)._ I digress. I was on the Worcestershire, Warwickshire border heading into Warwickshire.
I was driving in a very small village, turned right down a road that lead out of that village and something dark and large was running down the middle of the road. It did so for a good few seconds before it veered to the left. The grass _curbs_ either side of the road was probably some 30 odd feet wide before the hedgerows.
Whatever it was, stopped by the hedge, turned towards me, then vanished through the hedge never to be seen again.
    *Now.*
Some cynics will say, _"It was just a Black Lab or Alsatian."_
But I've had Alsatians in the past. My uncle always used to have Black Labradors. So whatever it was, did not run or move like those aforementioned dogs. Plus those dogs did not have the length of tail this beastie had. And as far as I've ever found out, they do not have it's piercing, night vision specialist, yellow/orange eyes. I had followed the beastie with full beam of the car by turning slightly to the left to follow it.
And no dog has ever given me that primordial fear that this beastie did. *The hairs on the back of my neck, stood up!*
I was being forewarned warned by some act of nature that I was _NOT_ the alpha predator. It was then that I remembered I had the roof down. That made me drive off PDQ!
As for *YOUR* footage at the end.
Look at the cats forehead. Just between and above the eyes. There is a dark "M" pattern. That's the sign of a domestic tabby cat. sadly, it's nothing more. Nothing less.
But you've got me intrigued. So I've subbed to you 👍

I saw one about 14 years ago in Lichfield, South Staffs. I was driving a taxi, it was just before midnight. I picked up a local careworker, regular customer. We had to stop the car as it was stood at side of road under a street lamp. It crossed in front of us… well, it stopped in the middle of my lane close to my bonnet, it squatted down and as good as dissapeared. It was black, large puma/ small lioness size. It did not have a leopard or jaguar build. I could see faint leopard/cheetah type markings faintly on its rear legs. It did seem a little disproportionate to me… its neck seemed too long, and its head undersized for its body. Its muzzle/snout (whatever) seemed quite long and thin. It did seem quite dishevelled, but it had been raining.
I mentioned this sighting to a guy online, who had seen one about 12 miles further north and he gave me a detail i hadnt mentioned… a very saggy stomach from having kittens.
I remember asking the customer “did you just see what i think i just saw” and she said dryly “what… that really big black cat like a puma or something”. 😂
There would not have been time to take a picture, but, at the time, confronted by such a thing, it didn’t even cross my mind.
It was a residential area too, although maybe 150yards away it was countryside and the Trent Valley trainline.

i was a former royal marines sniper and was at the time a cop in rural argyll scotland, in the mid 8os there were hundreds of sightings of very large feral cats, the people sighting them were not city folk or tourists, they were local farmers, ghillies, estate managers, hikers and country folk of many generations. i used to hunt a lot off duty and one day from a high point i watched a black leopard/mountain lion/cougar/ puma for about ten minutes through my wide angle scoped rifle. the beast was within a plantation of just planted shrubs and i had a clear view. it was about 600 metres from me and the wind was slight and in my face, the plantation was ringed by a 15 foot tall deer fence, it had a long tail the same length as its body, it was black but on closer inspection it had faint whitish rings along its side, i watched it in amazement as its moved back and forth head moving from left to right, i zoomed in to max zoom and saw its face it was definitely a cat. something then startled it and in three bounds it completely cleared the deer fence and disappeared into the forestry commission trees out of sight. i wasn't the only cop to see it, others out at night outside the towns saw it as it passed in front of there stationary cop car, they even took plaster casts of its paw prints and had them examined by vets and sent to the local safari park. the results were conclusive it was of the puma etc variety, police bosses held a public meeting but refused to believe the evidence collected. they were terrified not knowing what to do they just did not want to know. after some three months the sightings and loss of livestock stopped and it was believed that the cat or cats (some sightings were of two or more cats) had moved there hunting ground. it is likely that after the dangerous animals act came in pet creatures were released into the wild and are still there.

I spent all of the 70's out in the woods hunting and fishing with my cousins. We had often heard storeys of Big cats, but never came across anything exotic other than some Capybara that once lived on Romney marsh. Those poor buggers had to be culled, because rather than eat the long weed in the water ways, they took a fancy to the young reeds and scoffed them instead, so they had to go. Funny how keepers, who mostly are good field biologists (unlike most hunters), never have good evidence of these cryptid creatures that seem to be everywhere. Since many of those witnesses in the comments would never have seem polecats, martins, badgers or foxes of even wild deer, the lack of gamekeeper sighting is somehow strange....

I saw one up close for about 90 seconds at the Army Training Area in Caerwent. It was pacing me as I walked through a heavily overgrown railway cutting. It was about 15ft away in the thick bracken. It was stocky, mottled black and smaller than a great Dane but bigger than a labrador. The site rangers were very much aware of it and volunteered where I had seen it before I told them. I first noticed it because, unlike the other wildlife I saw on the survey job, it didnt suddenly break cover when I got close, but paced parallel with me, stopping when I stopped.

If a couple of these panthers are around, it would be very apparent. They usually have some clear traits that make them insufferable pests, and are easily camera-trapped with trail cameras, just watch the amateur biologists (& some good ones recruited) who consistently find them in the wild when they cannot get visual contact. The reverse seems common i the UK panther/Australian Thylacine/US bigfoot circles.

The DNA was sampled from Cumbria from a carcass because it looked like a suspicious kill. She later saw the big cat while driving off. The account is on Big Cat Conversations.

My sighting was different. In the late 1980's I was walking alongside the Crinnan Canal, Argyll between Belanoch and Cairnbarn at night along a stretch with Ancient woodland on one side of the road and the canal on the other .
It has always been my preference not to use a torch unless needed ,your eyes adjust well on a long walk and you are even with your environment . If you use a torch you can only see what is in the beam ,but everything else can see you coming for miles.
Suddenly I became aware that a blackness had just leaped onto the road behind me about 30 feet away where I had walked seconds earlier.
I immediately pointed my torch beam at its face and to be honest only noticed two things ,its eyes reflected like a cat not a dog and this thing was huge I knew it was the Argyll cat by the size and spacing of its eyes.
I knew it had stalked me and that if it attacked there was nothing I could do, so I played bravado , I copied the Hulk's roar bending at the waist with the depth of my roar, arms out; the most 'come on if you think your hard enough' animal sound I have ever made.
Knowing I was miles away from safety I turned my back on it and as nonchalantly as posible just started walking. I did not even look over my shoulder ,saying to it I'm big was one thing but I really did not want to give the impression "And I intend to stand here and prove it." I walked about a hundred yards before I turned and searched with my torch in case my display had only delayed its next move, but I never saw it again.
When I told this story to an old man that lived in a caravan in the Aria he made me promise not to tell that he was well aware of them and swore that he had a den in the hill above him and had often that summer seen a mother with two cubs.

    • @johnmead8437
      @johnmead8437 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Cats don't leap out behind if stalking you. They stalk, any leap is from ambush or after a short very direct and often fatal rush. And moving off with a turned back is an invitation to attack for animals unexpectedly encountered or bluffed into pausing.
So that must have been a very unusual encounter....
A finite possibility of a few individuals exists in the UK & probably US, maybe other countries where they are "pets". But the plethora of reports with inconceivable elements demonstrates how many sad or mistaken reports exist. And the absence of supporting easily obtained evidence simply emphasises this.

    • @johnh539
      @johnh539 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@johnmead8437 yep I agree ,replace the word "Stalking" with interested in me.. Every other word was exact. Where it leapt from their was the remnants of a drystone dyke with the remains of a fence then a road side ditch then a single lane B road so its leap was from the wall strait onto the road.
Annoying a leopard by facing it off with a torch in its face seemed like asking for trouble. I did expect to be charged turning my back on it ,but after my Primeval show of strength I hoped that cats don't' like being seen mid stalk and that predators tend to avoid other predators.
In a situation where I had no options I hoped nonchalant strength would work.(And did).
If you still don't believe me why read comments as you are clearly not prepared to trust anything.
Note even here I am not calling it a Leopard , merely pointing out the assumption I made based on its eyes. I would go as far as to guess it was a full size male because it was huge.

I grew up on the isle of wight and in 1995 I was walking to my sisters house on the edge of parkhurst forest late one night after a party and saw a big cat cross the lane about 100 yards in front of me. I often think back and question what I saw. At first I thought it was a black labrador because it was that kind of size but it was moving slowly and paused for a second and I'm certain it was a cat. It wasn't just the head but the tail which sticks in my memory, how long it was and how it was held, so distinctive of a big cat. Dogs and even domestic cats just don't have a tail like that. There was only one street light further back so I can't be certain of colour because I could really only see the silhouette but size and shape was unmistakable. I know full well I sound like a total crank writing this but I'm pretty sure I saw a big cat that night.

  • @mistygroves3503

I'm pretty sure I saw a big cat but it happened quickly in twilight. No camera on me. I had been in a woods all afternoon collecting firewood with my dog. Umpteen times back to the car to unload my back-pack, and going back & forth. So when I'd finished it was starting to go dark. November 2006 I think but may have been 2007 .
I thought I'd take my dog for a bit of a stroll before we went home. We started down a long track which was intersected about100 yards away by another track. She was sniffing about and I was looking down the track. when all of a sudden, on the intersecting track ahead, I saw a large black creature run along low to the ground. It kind of "slunk" and its body rippled as it ran then it was gone.
I estimated its length to be at least 3 feet probably more, and its "slinking height" to have been about 18 inches or more? It had a long tail
It wasn't a deer for sure. Or a loose dog (but we had seen no one in there and no dogs all day.)
The problem, was it all happened in about 3 seconds, in the twilight, so things were a bit unclear.
I decided to take my dog right out of there and go back to the car. I didn't feel I would have been in any danger but I didn't want my dog to catch its scent and run after it.
The next day I left my dog in the car and went to look for tracks. That was impossible as there was really thick leaf-litter. I spent some time looking and checking any patches of mud with few leaves on them, but no tracks.
    That was in Somerset UK.

The 1st set of tracks are from a cat but are too small compared to the fox tracks in order to be considered any large cat. The 2nd set of tracks you show are too old and degraded to be considered cat or anything else roaming around out there.

I noticed you camped in my neck of the woods not too long ago (Cannock Chase) and there is supposedly big cat sighting up there, along with mythical stories of Pig Man (half-man half-pig) and the Black Eyed Children who are alledged to be ghostly kids wandering around. There was actually a famous murder case in the 60's where a guy from Walsall murdered young girls and dumped their bodies on the Chase, so I don't know if the legend is from that.
I'm guessing you heard/saw nothing though, just as I never have despite mountain biking up there for many years both day and night.
An interesting fact about Cannock Chase is that it inspired JRR Tolkein's Lord of the Rings books. He lived in a house in Great Haywood in 1916, which is close to Shugborough Hall at the edge of the Chase.

Lad... that bedding area is deer...deer have more then one bedding area in their territory...them track in the forest u was walking in r muntjac and roe.
Iv been tracking in South of UK for 30 yr... I csn show u a big cat area near my home..u may see Ilit or not.
There is no such breed as a panther...just puma and jaguars..panteride breeds
We have lynx in uk... and we do have puma and jaguars aswell
Big black cats r not panthers...they r black leopards...they have a genetic darkness in their menelin in their skin cells which give the black colour to their fur
Please get hold of me as if ur up for a collaboration looking in areas for big cats then we can meet and get out there for one
Cats won't attack tents..they a apex predator for a reason and will remain more elusive then the muntjac which I track and see often...
I myself go out and keep in mind the interiors I'm in that have had sightings in of big cats armed. We have boar...we have 6 species of deer in uk aswell..other mammals...muntjac r generally noisy wiv the snapping and brake g of branches etc through the nite...everything else will walk about quietly lad....
Get hold of me and if ur near by we will go out and track and have a butchers at what's about
That's a domestic cat ...willow trees just behind the cat r no more then 2 inches wide...
    Get intouch..

    Watched your whole video.
After reading the comments, I'm not sure how many saw the live footage of the cat at the end of the video. Otherwise this will be in big debate? Its cool footage but is this a predatory cat? Looks a tad bigget than a domesticated cat? Would love to hear people's opinions.
Also i watch alot Videos on deer hunting and deer bed down on vrass just like you showed in the vidio!! Big stags are extremely intelligent and very hard to spot in the wild as they can hear and smell you well before you can see them. Obviously i cant say for certain ,but its likely that a deer would have bed down there and a deer could have ran through the trees whilst you were sleeping!!
Keep up the search! Its interesting.
I dont have any big cat stories to share other than the few lepords we spotted in Taran geri national park in Tanzania in Africa 😅

Love cats, I am familiar with these beautiful shy animals , the only i would avoid to meet is a feral American Bobcat or a Mountain Lion , lucky us in EU the biggest one is the Linx but very hard to meet and as wolves do don't came close to humans. If someone manages to photograph the European Wildcat I'll buy him a beer if he shows me the picture of course. :D

I live in Cornwall and I’ve seen two big cats once when I was about 17 years old in budock water big black cat running across a field late afternoon probably the size of a Labrador bringing it’s back legs right forwards 100% cat. The second time I was about 26 years old me and a some friends went fishing down the lizard at porthkerris and seen a big cat clambering up a steep cliff at night again 100% a big cat. I’m 48 years old now but I know other people who have seen big cats around budock water but not recently.
Reading the other comments lots of people from Cornwall seeing big cats

Back in the mid 60s I was in the army and stationed in Plymouth and would travel to and from my home in mid Cornwall to and fro to Plymouth, mostly very late at night to be back before revalue, one night at about 1.30 I was just past Bodmin Road station turning when came around a bend and my bike lihts lit up a big black cat right in the middle of the road, it was caught by surprise just as I was and I was going way too fast to stop on my Areial square four old 1000 cc bike, after all these years I can still picture its mouth looked a red in my lights and looked to be snarling looking straight at me, scared the crap out of me and I think that was the fastest ride to Liskeard that I had ever done, always stopped in Liskeard to warm my hands around the engine,a policeman on patrol stopped to talk and I told him about the cat,he said someone had already reported seeing one that night, people would scoff at the story but I know exactly what I saw.

I don't mind saying it scared the he'll out of me and I can still after all these years see the way it was I'm sure snarling at me as I had startled it just as much as it startled me, I passed within 3 or 4 ft of it,as I was about to run into it or just to the side of it it ran up the hedge towards the railway lines , scared the sxxxt out me, I always went fast along that road back up to camp at that time of night think it was 1964 because I was out in Malaysia from 1965 onwards for over 3 years, but I'll never forget it.

I have a problem with a lot of submitted print evvidence, cats hate mud and they hate getting dirty. They will go to great lengths to avoid muddy areas. Of course, there will be times where they cannot help but leave tracks but i think a sighting is much more likely than a track find. When people find tracks in deep mud i get more sceptical than when someone reports a sighting.

Wild 'domestic' cats after a few generations can reach 15kg or more. The proof is Australia. At that size in the UK, they are the top predator.
