I thought there’s a function to destruct a midi part into lanes. I’m not at my computer at the moment so can’t confirm. I use this approach all the time when recording beats manually and it works very well. Thank you for your video. I love the sound of the track. Cheers Dave
How on earth have I never found the Dissolve Function before? (Probably because I usually work with instrument tracks, and the function only works with actual MIDI tracks). I feel like a complete idiot, but am happy to have learned a new thing :)
Interesting approach that I'd not considered before - thanks Anthony. You're doubtless already aware of it, but for anyone else interested, I also like the method Mendel uses in videos such as th-cam.com/video/GI9L71BksFg/w-d-xo.html where there is a single midi track of all the drums but the GA outputs have been set up so that each drum sound has its own track in the mixer, you can apply inserts / side chaining independently to each one etc. That seems like a holy grail setup to me because you get the independent processing of each part but keep all the parts in a single, editable midi track as well. The way he shows it here is with a rack instance of Groove Agent but it also works (in a slightly different way) from a VST instrument track.
Hello. I use this method a lot of the time. I also use it along with the arranger track. both are very useful tools.
Thanks for the feedback, glad to find a fellow Lane enthusiast :)

Absolutely when you dissolve a MIDI part you have the option to separate it into lanes instead of independent tracks.

@@OneManAndHisSongs we have centuries to discover the zillions of deeply hidden functions in Cubase Pro 🙂
Andrew your detailed explanations of Cubase, Halion and other synths is second to none. You are my go to reference, thank you. Cheers Dave

Thanks Michael. No, I haven't seen that content, and am always happy to consider alternative approaches. I'll check it out.
