You can really be relied upon. If there is something new, like here in Cubase, you don't have to wait long for tutorials. That's why I'm happy to support you. Thank you very much for that.
Cubase 14 is a good update. The pattern editor was long overdue. However, I have two points of criticism: 1. The missing undo. 2. A MIDI import function in the pattern editor. I hope this will be added in the next maintenance update.
Another useful video. I like Anthony's relaxed and gentle style. However, there's a fault that, for me, afflicts so many YT instructional videos, which is that the way a function is selected is not made clear - and that's what I really want to know. Here, it's the reducing of the number of steps in the kick drum, about halfway through the video. I've played around for several minutes and i can't make it happen! I'll need to get the updated manual! I must say, though, that I'm not as impressed by this drum m/c as I'd hoped I would be. Immense flexibility and power, yes, but that tends to lead to extensive editing....
Are you saying you’re doing what Anthony is doing and getting a different result, or are you saying you can’t tell from the video what needs to be done?
Sorry about that. I do try to be as clear as possible. In this case there's a dropdown box called "number of steps" which defaults to 16. I reduced the value in that box to 8.
@@eagletown8977 I couldn't tell what needed to be done. But Anthony has kindly replied and I have now spotted what I couldn't see before, that the mouse pointer goes to that box on the left. I will apologise to Anthony!
@@OneManAndHisSongs Thanks for that kind reply, Anthony, no apology needed, except from me! I have now immediately spotted the mouse pointer going to that box on the lhs that I didn't see before - I think because it only had a tiny movement to make. This could be handy for dealing with odd time signatures.
Great introduction. It feels like you just scratched the surface with patterns, though. You could probably do an entire series on the Pattern editor. But there's enough information here to dive in and play around with this myself. Thank you!
Great For Starting out,Thank You🙏. You also said you had problems Downloading their Stuff. My Software Manager is not having it, but I think my Activation Manager downloaded the files?. I think?. (but every time I activate my SWM, its Blank,so I got the files some how) Could you plz tell me how you got the Drum machine to recognise your library. 99% of my CubaseArtists Sounds downloaded are '.vstsound' files, but the other files dwnloaded for the Grand 3 are '.vstpresets'. why these are different to the others,i don't know?,I just want to load the dam things. Thanks Anyway👍
Eventually the Download Assistant started working again (although it's currently broken once more... no idea what they're up to). .vstsound files are compiled, binary archive files that store settings, sounds and data for Steinberg products. Think of them as proprietary zip files. .vstpreset files are just that - individual presets for individual plugins. Sadly, if you're having issues with your configuration, your only option is to raise a ticket with Steinberg Support. Be warned though - it's not uncommon to have to wait weeks for a response.

I appreciate that, thanks!
As ever Anthony, a very clear and easy to follow video. Thanks.
Much appreciated, thank you :)
Your presentation of this Cubase 14 Pattern tutorial is very clear and easy to follow, really enjoyed watching this!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the feedback!

very nice video and best explanation - thank you!
You are welcome, thanks!
The Repeat function is essentially a ratchet, so you don’t have to have the whole lane at a higher resolution for a roll
Thank you, Anthony!
awesome thank you

Thanks! I agree that there's much more scope with this tool. In future content I hope to use it in real-life situations as I make music with it.
@@OneManAndHisSongsthat is what I was thinking. This introduction was very good and real life applications could be the perfect complement.
Could you post a link to upgrade link from 13 to 14 cubase I can't see it on the Steinberg page
