      We’re so sad for leaving our current home, but something we love about NYC is the excitement of changes and moving frequently to new apartments.
      So excited to make new decorations for this new home!
      Thank you Zelda for being here with us on our journey! 🐶🐾💕

    Thank you for providing us viewers with an inside look and behind-the-scenes glimpse of apartment hunting in NYC. The city is renowned for its popularity, fashion trends, and nightlife, hence the understandable high prices. I particularly favor the first apartment because of the additional second room for guests or office space, and sunlight won't be an issue unless it's a foggy day. I can already imagine Choco with a sun-kissed golden tan in such a delightful space. Here's hoping you find an apartment that perfectly suits your needs and, above all, feels like home to all of you.

    All of these apartments are nice! I don't know which one you've chosen but I think the first one (2 bed/2 bath) is more bang for your money and the water view is very nice. Also, Choco and Mocha can have more space to lounge!!!

    Mmm... The far West-side on Manhattan in Midtown is a very sterile neighbourhood. Try West Chelsea for a bit more flavor. I love the views from these modern buildings but the rooms are so small for what you pay. The one bedroom layouts in particular have no flown to them. You could get a charming and large one-bedroom in London Terrace for these prices and have a roof deck and a swimming pool.

    • @NewYorkTails
      @NewYorkTails  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the recommendation!
      We love Hells Kitchen because there’s a lot of bars and restaurants but we might consider Chelsea too.

    Thankyou for sharing. I noticed that some of the apartments had an alcove. Is an alcove something the apartment rental people tout as a feature or is an alcove something the renters desire? What does one due with an alcove?

    • @NewYorkTails
      @NewYorkTails  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Arthur, thank you and welcome to our channel!
      The rental people tout as a feature but it’s also something that people look for. Extra space in NYC is always welcomed and needed and in our case we were looking for an extra space for the office or even to use it when receiving guests.

    This in the insanity if you want to live in NYC. NYC is expensive, dirty, full of crime, rats everywhere, freezing in the winter, melting housing, homeless, & smells. So Why will ppl want to live in NYC? The beauty is in the detail?🤔

    • @scott5966
      @scott5966 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I live in a beautiful part of NYC. My job is here and this is where I make money (a lot of money) and that is why I live here. I have Central Park I can walk to, the Met, the MoMA and other museums. I can walk to Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, etc.. I have access to good food, and I have a lot of successful and interesting friends here as well. Is the city stressful at times? Sure. But it is also fun and has its joys. Also its frustrations. Yes. If it had fewer frustrations I would have no qualms about living here all the time. But I also have a weekend house in the country and a beach place abroad, so it is manageable. New York is a tough town and always has been. It is not a city for the middling. You have to be above average just to be basic. But real New Yorkers have a great spirit. Only the strong survive.

      @@scott5966 Good for you, so between paying rent & property taxes are you happy if you make $70,000 a year living in New York you will be taxed $11,074. Your average tax rate is 10.94% and your marginal tax rate is 22%. If you are happy with that ‘does own its own’🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @scott5966
      @scott5966 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@charlesguzman3452 There is a lot more to life than money, but since that seems to be your overriding concern, let's start with that. I don't think you caught my drift. I make 100 x that figure and couldn't do it anywhere but New York. I also own, I don't rent. And yes, taxes are high, but so are opportunities in certain fields. Here's a thought experiment. Somebody offers you 2 jobs. One pays 1,000,000 per year, but is in New York where your combined state, federal and local tax is approaching 60%. The other job pays 250,000 in a low tax state where you would only pay Federal income tax. Which would you choose? From a purely economic standpoint, you'd of course take the million dollar job because even after taxes you'd come out ahead, even with a higher base line cost of living. But your personal choice may also depend on other things. School age children for example. Some people don't like cities. I get it. Who cares, plenty of people do. I hate the soul sucking suburbs with strip malls and crap ticky tacky housing developments. Other people love it. To each their own. I've chosen to live in a city where yes, I can make a ton of money, and then have choices to spend that money in the city or at the beach or wherever I want. Money is a tool. It is a byproduct of hard work and drive. And yes, it is very true that money doesn't buy happiness, but it can prevent a LOT of unhappiness. Never a worry about a bill, the price of gas or cost of eggs. Never a worry about the taxes either, because you make PLENTY on top of it. The city gave me that. But I also choose to live in a city because I like options in life, I like to walk, I hate cars, I like high culture, good food and interesting friends who do interesting things. I put up with a lot to get to where I am now. I piled into a 2 bedroom apartment with 5 people when I was young, ate lentil soup, never ate out.. But by my early 30s, things were happening and opportunities were opening up that would never have been available in the 'burbs. I'm not trying to sell you on New York but you asked why people live here. For me, it has been a golden door. That is why.

      @@charlesguzman3452doesn’t sound like the commenter above makes $70,000 a year. More like $700,000. He stated he has a beach house as well as a weekend house. Probably makes more like a million plus a year.
