I played with the DBD 16mm for 6 months. Now switched to the Ruby 14mm. I love the extra power and spin. Haven't noticed any vibration issues whatsoever.
The J2K paddle is definitely a great paddle to try out if you’re looking for more forgiveness with your shots and looking to save money. Hats off to Six zero for making more options for those who like playing with a 14mm.

I enjoyed your first look video. I agree with you that the player will need to decide which paddle is best for them and their game. Thank you Chris and Aizec.
I honestly felt like the j2k was a fine paddle but the handle felt super short to me it wasnt comfortable for me to put 2 hands on my backhand at all. J2k really wasnt my speed but I see why everyone likes it.
You’re missing out not adding weight to the 14mm. You get a good bit of stability back and keep the stiffer feeling face. I’d be curious to see if someone could weight up a 14mm to similar twist/swing weights as the 16mm and compare. It’s not just the thickness that you’re noticing on the shots. It’s probably the (lack of) mass.
That part! Most people don’t realize how adding weight can/will completely enhance the play of a paddle!! And at that point you can be comparing apples to oranges. The DBD without weight is one of the best paddles right outta the box. You add weight to it and it becomes a superhero! My fave-the BD isn’t much outta the box, but you add weight to it, it’s Thanos in comparison to the Avengers!! 😎😎😎
For what it's worth, the DBD 14mm has a good amount of vibration which I have been using for months now and I absolutely love that paddle. Not all paddles fit for everyone and the Ruby 14mm is a paddle I will be buying since it's basically the same paddle as the DBD but with a different surface.
Most all of that vibration goes away if you add lead tape. Helped my game go up a level especially when playing against harder hitters. And since it’s a 14mm, you won’t be losing any noticeable hand speed. You gain stability, pop and feel! Win/win!
I dont get the vibrations issue if you primarily game an elongated a hybrid youre prob hitting off the top so no wonder they vibrate. I can play with any paddle shape and I dont ever feel vibrations. Weird.
I like how you introduced these but also gave us more affordable options to consider. Thanks guys! P.S. I have the DBD 14mm, I don't care for the vibrations. Wish I had gone with the 16mm.
I've been contemplating the 14mm 11six24 thanks for the review. I currently own the 16mm version of these paddles and I still use both but I do favor the Hurache X
I went from the 16MM to the 14MM Ruby. Definitely more hand speed and put away pop. Not experiencing any huge vibration issues. Paddle reviews are subjective. I wouldn't count this paddle out. Demo it and see if its good for you!
@TennisObsessed I really like the 14mm. Maybe lacks a little power compared to the 16mm due to the lighter weight, but definitely more pop and great control.
I liked Aizec's take on the 11SIX24's 14mm version of the Control+. I have the H-X C kevlar 14mm and it's heavier than you'd think (8.3 oz) with a decent twist weight so you don't have the stability and off-center hit drawbacks of typical 13-14mm paddles.
The J2K seems like a great paddle at a really competitive price. Number 1 on my next paddle list. Waiting on my Spartus Apollo which i ordered mainly because of your review. I watched other reviewers take on it just to confirm. Subbed!
😭 Waaaah I’m Aizec and I felt a little vibration so I hate it (again). Dude just put 100 lbs of weight on it and you’ll love it. I’m only kidding but seriously you need to tan your arms evenly.
Mine was part of the May 31st pre-order. A shipping label was created and then it arrived at the post office (Edmonton, Canada) for pick-up June 14th. So maybe expect around 2 weeks? Really enjoying this paddle so far due to the lower swing weight, good pop, and more power than my Loco. I got it for playing women's doubles while my Loco is awesome for playing right side in Mixed (more control and very good at blocks and great maneuverability when I am targeted with speed-ups).
I have the DBD 14mm and been waiting for the Ruby 14 mm.......... but want to see who the regulatory body ends up being before investing in any new paddles. I think waiting for the paddle to be on the market for a few months before buying probably makes sense.
Great stuff Chris! Read my mind: these are for people who really value mobility or already really liked their Ruby/BD 16 and want the increased power 👌🏼
Great first look. I really appreciate giving some alternative paddles to consider like you did here. You did a nice job of reminding people that the paddles from Six are decent. It is a shame you have to do that but it is important to remove the misinterpretation of what you are saying.
