    Love this game easier said than done, on dinking your way and defending to get to the kitchen. Lots of battles at the net. Thinking drilling on slowing down the speedups at the kitchen until there can be a put away. Great Game awesome pick apart Rory.

    You pick some great videos to analyze, great job, reasonable good players for that level

    Another good game to watch. I think a 4.0 is probably right. Was going back and forth during play but not enough to go up or down from 4.0. Very entertaining.

    Very good pickleball reviews on this channel. I am curious if the players being reviewed are able to take some nuggets of info from your videos.

      Thanks for the nice compliment and thanks for watching. Yes, a number of players who I have picked apart have asked me to do more of their videos.

    4.0 play in Minneapolis in the new expansion section at Lucky Shots. As I have mentioned, the play is pretty good around theTwin Cities, especially at the indoor PB facilities and these women represent that although I would guess a couple of them are over 4.0. Based on what I have seen on some other videos from other locations on this channel, where they list play at 3.5 or 4.0 or 4.5 -- it usually seems off to me. This video though, is similar to what I would expect for 3.75-4.25 open play around here.

      Looks like Lucky shots has become a very nice facility. Thanks for watching.

      @@pickleballpick-apart9787I was thinking the same thing, beautiful spot as long as you don’t care about ATP’s.
      I’m going to be in the Twin Cities next year and it’s now on my list of places to play❤️
      Thanks for your channel.

    Watching these ladies emphasizes how important the 3rd shot drop is for the serving team.

  • @davidaronson9475
    @davidaronson9475 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If your 3rd shot drop is a long dink swing (underhand toss), and you try to use that same swing for a 3rd shot drive, you are going to have problems.

    Cannot give away points at this level by return of serve or serving and missing. I like changing the speed slower to speed up and being unpredictable

      A lot of players try to ace a serve or hit a winner on a return of serve. It's very difficult to do. It can be done in tennis, but it doesn't happen very often in pickleball.

  • @thomaspanno3515
    @thomaspanno3515 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Don't call missed returns "free points" some returns are very difficult. Maybe an error but they are not haphazard shots "to give it away"

    • @pickleballpick-apart9787
      @pickleballpick-apart9787  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      All the served missed were very easily returnable serves. They should not be missed. So, it's a free point. Players at this level should be able to return just about any type of serve. We're just going to have to disagree. Thanks for watching.

    • @CWK090
      @CWK090 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Rory is very consistent with his critiques.
      If a serve goes out of bounds, “You just can’t do that”.
      If you miss the return of serve. “It’s a give-away”, “It’s a free point for the other team.”
      After that, a ball hit out of bounds or into the net is just an error.
      I can see his point with the serve as you should be able to keep it in 100% of the time unless you are trying something different and more risky.
      The return of serve is not 100% but it should be close.

    • @JimAssalone
      @JimAssalone 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CWK090 I disagree. You can miss a serve now and again and even a service return and still win. “You just can’t do that is not accurate. Professionals miss serves and service returns occasionally and still find a way to win.

    • @CWK090
      @CWK090 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JimAssalone Those were Rory’s comments. I agree with him that you shouldn’t allow your serve to go out.
      A good player, 3.5 and above, should be able to keep every serve in. The only exception with me is when I am way ahead in the score and want to try something different, more pace, more or different spin or closer to the baseline.
      Concerning the return of serve and to Rory’s point, it should not be difficult to keep it in as their only goal is keeping you back. With the distance involved, you have ample time to get into position for the return. If you miss, you lose the point so a missed return of serve is worse than a missed serve. I believe Rory stated the same thing in this or another video.
      I agree you can miss a serve and/or return of serve occasionally and still win.
      If players would just have patience and stop trying to win the rally with each swing, they would be a better pickleball players.

      People hit serves long and miss return of serves sometimes at every level. Even Ben Johns and all the top level pros. I’ve often heard that if you’re not serving long occasionally you’re probably not going for deep enough serves.

    This is what confuses me about the rating system. The woman in the light purple shorts almost never third shot drops. She drives the ball almost always. You can tell she is extremely fit and very muscular so she is using her power and not necessarily the techniques which are listed in what a 4.0 should be using.

    • @pickleballpick-apart9787
      @pickleballpick-apart9787  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True. Some people can get away with raw power because their opponents cannot handle it. Thanks.

    I can tell how enamored you are with the women in pink. But you really did not give any credit whatsoever to the other team. They didnt get pickled, they were not slaughtered. The team in pink had to work hard tomget their points. Give credit all around where it is due.

    • @pickleballpick-apart9787

      It's 4.0 level play. To be considered 4.0 level play, a player must be able to hit consistent third shot drops. I understand what you're saying. However, I don't think they are 4.0 level. We'll just have to disagree and that's okay. Thanks for watching.

      I agree. All of the players are good. The lady with a ponytail/black shorts is very good. She has fast hands, shades with her partner, etc.
      If she was paired with the lady in pink, the game would have ended much sooner.
