It is more head heavy than the DBD…I have both paddles, and us gals who like a light swing weight for hand battles notice this. I agree with you on all your other details.
And Luca, don't you think grittier paddles are the future? So many players are obsessed with spin, and the Ruby has that amazing grit! Do you know of other paddles with this type of aggressive grip?
Great review. I currently play with the DBD and it's darned near perfect, for me. It doesn't have the "ball sinking in" feel, that I love and which makes it easier, for me, to generate more spin. Sounds to me like the Ruby is even closer to perfection, and will be my next paddle, when the DBD wears out. Thanks!
I play with the Ruby. That sinking in is a good description. I always told people it felt "squishy" when I first got it. I went from crbn 1x so at first the Ruby was extremely different for me but the reason I switched was because the 1x was too powerful. My serves and drives were awesome but my easy putaways were going out and the recoil in handbattles was hard to control. I got used to the Ruby and I love it now. I have considered getting the DBD just to see the difference but this video pretty much made me just want to buy another Ruby. My balls were alot slower but the dip was very steep and seemed to give opponents a hard time. I always wished I could've played myself with the Ruby just to see why people struggle with its shots. I can take really low dinks and speed them up a foot off the ground and split the ball right down the middle and have confidence it will drop in.
How’s the paddle face holding up now? Still has the grippy texture? Also a lot of reviews don’t really talk about how “dirty” the face gets and not to use a eraser on it. Your thoughts on that?
Great review. Your review is on point. However, the Ruby I have doesn’t have near as much pop as the DBD. Feels really plush with good power on regular strokes.
That was a fantastic comparison. You are a fantastic reviewer. However I was more memorized of your play on that wet court. With that slipping and sliding you got me thinking that perhaps Pickelball could become a winter sport and we could play it on ice with skates .
Great work as always Luca. I went to order the Ruby from your site but I see it's sold out, awaiting the next shipment. Would you have a rough idea on when you think you'll expect it?? Weeks, months?? Thx
Good analysis, but i was distracted what u were saying when showing play on the wet courts. Actually impressive, as i have played on wet courts before, maybe not that wet. 😅
How does the best paddle shop in Canada not have an indoor facility close to it, the videos just dont hit the same without watching your insane skills. What paddle shops really need is their own in store court so you can demo paddles right then and there even just a skinny singles setup would be mint... then again I live in Ontario and paddle shops with good stock are non existent yet we have indoor and outdoor facilities out the ying yang somethings just never make sense. Oh if i had a million dollars LOL.
I keep waiting for them to develop a ball that works well on hartru so we can get some clay court PB going. I mean you can do it but its not quite right with traditional balls.
How would you compare Ruby to the BD (or more specifically BD Amethyst JMV)? Coming from the Filth, I found the Ruby too soft/plush when resetting in the transition zone and dinking but enjoyed the spin on ground strokes and speed ups and increase in power from back in the court.
Between Luca & John Kew they both do such an amazing job. Currently playing with a vatic prism flash. Trying to decide between the dbd & ruby n possible the black diamond but prolly ruby or dbd.
ruby is better...I used the DBD for 6 months then went to Ruby for the past 7 months ...then on a whim, i pulled out the DBD and was totally disappointed...no pop or power at all compared to my Ruby....I am going to sell both of my DBD's....i was actually shocked because I loved the DBD
Could you test Gearbox Pro Control? And compare it to the Gearbox Pro Power. Thank you!
Yes, that's definitely in the works.

Great review. I own both, and alternate play between the two.Your review said everything I've been thinking.
Thanks. New subscriber.
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed.
Another awesome video man. I love how you filmed the gameplay portion in an ice rink;) Keep up the great work!
Hahaha thank you 😅 Risking it all for the content
Thank you for your time and posting. :)
Your explanation is very well done. I would you to how compare the SIxzero Ruby to the Volair Mach II Forza ? Thanks Steven
Thank you! The Ruby is a bit more plush and much more stable due to the shape. The Mach II Forza is much more maneuverable.

Thank you! Give it a shot for sure; even though it gives that sensation of more plushness, it's still just as responsive.
This was the best video you’ve produced on this channel to-date.
Thank you very much!

Dammit! I didn't want another paddle but after watching this video I now want the RUBY 🤦🏾. Great content, thanks for sharing
Ahaha it never stops!

Thank you very much! Definitely a more plush feeling paddle.
DBD has more pop
Between the two, I can’t get over the fact that the Ruby looks a lot nicer.
Facts
It is beautiful paddle.
Great review Luca, like always. Any comments about Ruby vs apes pro line S. I would like to hear what you think
I may do a comparison in the future but I prefer the Ruby since it has less of that muted feel than the PLES.
Thanks for your reply. Great channel
Luca quick question. In your apes S review you mentioned you put lead tape. That is .5 grams by inch or 1.0 gram by inch. Thank you
I saw your reply right now in other video.
Yesterday I got Hyperion c2 16mm you recommend put lead tape too like I have in my apes s

Thank you so much! It's so much fun on those slippery courts you just have to get used to it and, of course, be careful.
I have both paddles and they are indeed phenomenal. But, I do find the Rudy a little poppier.
Great review. Any recommendation on something similar to DBD but more power? Preferably under $200 if possible
Vatic pro flash (the thermoformed ones)
Like others have said, I have both and lov’m. I also go back and forth, though I am l am leaning toward the DBD a little.
Same here. DBD is the way to go for me.
Great work as always Luca. I went to order the Ruby from your site but I see it's sold out, awaiting the next shipment. Would you have a rough idea on when you think you'll expect it?? Weeks, months?? Thx
Thank you very much! They shipped today so we're guessing a week or so.
Did you purchase one Mike? Any comments?
@@TheDBNpoisonunfortunately when they became available again, they sold out before I could get my order in
Which would you recommend for a new player?
Either works but probably the DBD for value.
Much respect putting your body on the line for this review. I wiped pretty hard on a tiny wet spot the other day.
Hope you're alright 😳
You glossed over it, but the difference in swing weight made the Ruby a bit more head heavy, and thus a bit slower in hands battles at the net.
Definitely.
Good analysis, but i was distracted what u were saying when showing play on the wet courts. Actually impressive, as i have played on wet courts before, maybe not that wet. 😅
Ahaha it's honestly a lot of fun once you're used to the traction.
Why doesn't anyone talk about the black diamond power anymore? I have one on order, should I have gone with a Ruby or DBD?
Does the Kevlar wear out faster?
No, if anything it's more durable.

It would be so awesome to throw an indoor court on our roof 😅
what overgrip are you using?
Tourna grip!
Which are your persOnal favorite paddles?
I'm a huge fan of the two Novas from Ronbus.
How come nobody has covered the carbon pickle pro!
I keep waiting for them to develop a ball that works well on hartru so we can get some clay court PB going. I mean you can do it but its not quite right with traditional balls.
I know! It would be awesome. Rainy pickleball will suffice for me until then 😅
Promo code?
So is the ruby thermoformed?
Absolutely, its thermoformed, edge-foamed, and unibody construction.
Yes!
Great review.
Thank you!
Playing on wet courts is not a good thing to do! Asking for injuries to occur!
I gotta say, once you're used to it, it's really not that bad! You gotta find a way to play in Vancouver 😅

I haven't played enough with the BD to say concretely, but it definitely has more pop and a slightly more springy feel to it.
Thanks!@@RacketsandRunnersPickleball
Luca might be the best pickleball reviewer in the world right now
FACTS Him and John Kew IMO

What are the weights

so the ruby is the dbd on steroids lol
