Garlic Shrimp Recipe - With Butter, Olive Oil, White Wine, Lemon, Parsley & Red Pepper Flakes

- Garlic Shrimp is one of the most satisfying recipes on the planet! Join Eric from Simply Elegant Home Cooking as he demonstrates his technique for making this classic dish! One of the difficulties when making garlic shrimp is to properly cook both the garlic and the shrimp withing overcooking the shrimp or scorching the garlic. this is best accomplished by cooking them separately at two different temperatures as Eric will demonstrate. Be sure to serve up your garlic shrimp with a French baguette or other bread of your liking. There will be a LOT of the olive oil and butter sauce and the bread is perfect for sopping it up!
Ingredients:
-1 pound wild shrimp
-4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
-1 1/2 tablespoon butter
-6 cloves garlic
-1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/3 cup dry Italian white wine
-1/2 lemon
-1 large handful fresh Italian parsley
-Salt and pepper to taste
-French baguette
Directions:
-Remove shrimp from fridge 40 minutes before cooking. Peel shrimp down to the last segment at the tail, slice down the back of the shrimp, and remove the vein. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towel.
-Prep the garlic and parsley by mincing each finely
-When shrimp are at room temperature, season them liberally with salt and pepper and preheat a large skillet on medium high heat for 3-4 minutes.
-Once skillet is very hot, add 1 tablespoon of the olive oil, swirl to coat the pan, and lay in the shrimp in an even layer. Sear the first side for 60-90 seconds and no longer or you will over cook them! Then flip the shrimp and sear the other side for 60-90 seconds. At this point, turn the heat off and remove the shrimp to a plate.
-After heat has been off for one minute, add in the rest of the olive oil. This will help cool down the pan. Turn the burner back on to medium low this time and add in the garlic. Cook the garlic for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
-After 2 minutes, add in the crushed red pepper flakes and continue to cook another 30 seconds, stirring constantly.
-Add in the white wine and lemon juice and turn heat up to medium. Continue to cook for about 2 or 3 minutes or until the alcohol has cooked off. Continue to stir constantly.
-Add in the butter and continue to stir. This will help emulsify the oil, butter, and wine into a creamy sauce.
-Once butter is melted in, reduce heat to medium low and add back in the shrimp, stir to incorporate for a minute.
-Add in the fresh parsley and turn off the heat. Continue stirring until parsley is evenly distributed.
-Serve the garlic shrimp in bowls with plenty of fresh bread to sop of the oil and enjoy!
Bru, your voice helps me be so much more relaxed about cooking. It's as if you're the oo7 of revealing culinary secrets
Haha thanks Scott! I actually get a LOT of positive comments about my voice, it’s one of the things about this channel that’s been a surprise!
An excellent technique, cooking the shrimp separately. My new favorite shrimp scampi recipe, thank you Eric!
Thanks! It is all about controlling the temperature!
I have watched many videos on this dish. I was struggling on how not to over cook the shrimp. This fixes that for me. Thank you, this is the best garlic shrimp{scampi} video out there. Nailed it;Love
Thanks! Yes this one took some trial and error, most make the mistake of either cooking the shrimp too long and slow or burning the garlic, this method gives you the perfect cooking method for both!
Thanks Eric for this amazing recipe. Made it yesterday turned out great. Delicious!
Thanks! I appreciate you coming back to let me know!
Terrific recipe Eric. I'm gonna do this one. The video was easy to follow and the garlic shrimp looked delicious. Thanks for the tips.

Haha, glad the search engines are working and bringing you to this video!
Yeah this helped clear up some stuff for me regarding level of heat for garlic and shrimp too. Makes sense.
Thanks! It is so easy to burn the garlic or over cook the shrimp if not done this way.
Yep. Turned out Great! Will defenetly make it again.
Thanks! It is in my weekly rotation even since I learned this method!

It is very important not to over cook the shrimp!

This shrimp is super simple but super satisfying as well!
Very good video, delicious way to make garlic shrimp, thanks! Wondering why you left the tails on?
Oh that’s just for decoration, I usually take them off.
I really wish there was a link to be able to print out this recipe. I could follow the directions and print the ingredients for shopping. Could you please add. Thanks.
I made it!!! Used the same “sauce” recipe for spinach.. delish!!! 😋 the only thing I changed was the salt. I used seasoned salt I am 🥰
So glad you enjoyed! And yes I used traditional flavors but you can use this method and get creative with the seasonings!
Yum!
Thanks!
NEVER saw you add the white wine Eric, but looks simple & delicious !
The wine is added right after the garlic and red pepper flakes have been sautéed. Thanks for watching!

What if I wanted to make this a shrimp pasta? How would I make it so there's enough sauce? Add more ingredients of oil, butter, and wine?
With very minor adjustments you can make it into a pasta. I have a recipe for shrimp scampi on this channel, look it up!
I do same way without red peppers and wine I’m half try white wine tho.
Yea just the garlic oil butter will give you a delicious result but I do like adding them!
how many people does this feed? TY looks great!
It feeds 2-3 as a main course or 4-5 as a side dish, it is versatile.
Wow amazing ,can I add one t.spone of soya sauce with wine ??
Personally I wouldn't use it in this dish but it might work.
@@SimplyElegantHomeCooking I tried it chef with soya sauce woooow 👌 thanks
I add parmesan at the end
Adding cheese to seafood is a controversial topic! But yes I sometimes do too!
Just wondering why you wouldn’t use a higher heat oil such as avacado oil? EEVO has a low burn point and searing the shrimp risks the chance of burnt oil flavor. I was taught the EEVO is a finishing oil.
I’m not a big fan of the flavor of avocado oil on certain dishes. Since we did things fast it wasn’t enough time to burn the olive oil
What kindof white wine did you use.
Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc work well for this.
You should add cold butter when the wine is reduced OFF the heat and agitate. Your sauce split.
Hmm that is typically what I do, maybe something was lost in editing but I didn't see any evidence that the sauce split. Thanks for watching.
Uhhh. He did add the butter after the wind reduced.
@@stacyharris8725 I never said he didn’t you daft twat
You have Zero command of the English language fool.
You know you don't have to add a tag when relying idiot!
Thats called shrimp scampi!
Yes it is very similar to shrimp scampi.

Why can’t this recipe be printed
Hmm I am not sure, it should be possible to print it.
tried this recipe, it is safe way, but shrimps doesn't soak with the taste in my opinion
Hmm, not sure what went wrong. If you are using the highest quality ingredients there should be an amazing flavor to this dish.
Did you just eat the tail shell????
I wish more folks would tell everyone to only eat wild caught seafood. The crappy farmed seafood is tactless and full of disease. Cheers!
I couldn’t agree with you more, I only eat wild caught.
Ur voice to low brother,
Hmm I will have to be more cognizant of that going forward.
are you hot? you sound hot, like daddy hot
Lol I’d like to think so!
Thats more than enough oil bruh
You want a lot of the oil so you can dip the bread in it.
I wouldn't get wild ocean anything...2011 Japan nuclear waste.
Hmm these don’t come from anywhere near Japan. I’ve always read that wild seafood is healthier and higher quality.
@@SimplyElegantHomeCooking True.
I tried the recipe and it was delicious.👍
listening to lip smacking is gross.
Most def.
Dude the sound of you smacking and eating at the end was enough to make me give this a thumbs down. Disgusting.
Lolol that is not the first time I've heard that one but I am glad you enjoyed the rest of the content enough to watch it through til the end!
Why on earth would you serve it with bread? Linguine would of been a much better choice 🤦🏻♂️
Lol I have a video doing it over linguine too!
Zzzzzzzz........
Lol did I put you to sleep??
