Eli's wish to meet Dustin Pedroia at a Boston Red Sox game

Eli is a little kid with a big heart. Like many 12-year-old boys, he adores sports and feeling the rush of adrenaline that comes from athletic pursuits. Unfortunately battling lymphoblastic leukemia makes playing ball difficult. Leukemia stole the normalcy of his childhood for a long time. It’s hard to feel like an athlete in a hospital room, but during his treatments he was able to look forward to his wish. Eli wished to meet his favorite baseball player, Dustin Pedroia, at a Boston Red Sox game. On his wish he was able to meet Dustin, hear words of encouragement and explore the stadium with his family. He
felt strong, normal, and once again in control of his life. Eli’s wish continues to give him a source of joy to focus on during his treatments. Memories from his wish keep him going and help provide renewed energy every day.
