  • On this third episode of Curated Convos we dive deep into the world of Lanoba Design by Danish native Lars Noah Balderskilde and husband David Singh from Chicago. We cover Danish vintage furniture 101; everything from the adventure of sourcing and handpicking furniture in the small towns of Denmark to refurbishing each piece by hand in their Jersey City warehouse. We also briefly touch on the Godfather of Danish furniture and the principles of a hygge lifestyle.

I just bought a 65 Y/O danish leather sofa that was brought over on a shipping container! I gave a 10 car garage full of vintage furniture i use for real estate staging. I dream about doing a trip and business model like this.

@montarrmedia thanks! Unfortunately, im located in Minnesota, and it's not to the quality and par of a shop such as yours.. slowly getting there though! Monetizing ownership and flipping into nicer pieces over and over to keep cash investment manageable.

Beautiful collection! The piece shown at 0:58 that looks like a hutch or writing desk, what is that called?

Thank you for your kind words! In Denmark, these pieces are called "Skænke" credenzas. This particular piece from Lanoba Design is truly unique, as it was the only one out of over 16,000 pieces in their collection. In other words, it's a rare find!

Haha. Denmark is gonna be empty of its furniture soon cause of these dealers. Once gone they're not being bought back after the price increases overseas. A little sad. A bit like raiding a national treasure 😄

Eventually it will be in high demand in Denmark and someone there will come up with the great idea to buy it cheap in the U.S. and resell it in Denmark 😂

Yeah, agreed. Their heritage is bring sucked over to the US. I'm not a big fan of importing all of Denmark's vintage furniture here. There's going to be none left for them to appreciate.

@@paulrr5711it was made for export in great numbers. 90% of it is of mediocre quality so it’s not a big issue.
