    In the Eastern Orthodox church its a popular tradition for women to cover there head in church, and some (like myself) do it in daily life too. The ideas behind it are a little different but I love this style! Ill give it a try sometime. Modest and chic ❤

    Your face coloring is very delicate so these lighter pinks, mauve colors are flattering. I do have a slinky pretied that I use to bicycle or at beach since if it gets wet , it dries quickly. I do wear a fall often because if we are out, it is cooler and if it rains,..nothing is really disturbed since it is a straight fall. My daughter 32, married a sephardi from Paris and I understand the scarf vs sheitel (wig) issue. I also am strongly aware of the kabbalistic benefits & reasons for hair covering...which a lot of Torah women are not aware of ...

    Boker Tov! My hair is so pathetic, nothing stays in or on it. So i keep it very short. For my scarf it is 70-80inch long, i use it and wear it all the time. I tie it with one side being slightly longer. The longer side curles up and is popped underneath the scarf to form a bun. Yank it! Then the other end wraps around the bun on the outside of the scarf to keep it secured. Lasts and stays all day!
    I have also made under scarves from medical scrubs hats. Just made out of jersey and tighter to the head.

      I wear a simple israeli tieback scarf the back left out instead of tucked in. I prefer the neutral shades that are often found on the hijab websites.
      The neutrals work well in North America, you blend in the crowd better and they look great with your everyday clothes.
      Unless it's a wedding, you won't see the bright colored hijabs. The idea behind islamic color sensibility is to not attract attention. The neutrals get the job done, and chiffon is the most breathable.

    I am struggling with covering my hair. As a schoolteacher, I hate having to fuss with my apparel during the day, and I’m frequenting having to fuss with my tichel. Also, I’m quite intolerant of heat, and living in Texas, it’s super uncomfortable having anything on my head in the summer. I’ve tried using bands to hold the scarf in place but they give me a headache. Really hoping you have some suggestions, because at this point, I’ve stopped covering my hair because of the above difficulties.

    • @jayellealafi5797
      @jayellealafi5797  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sarah, thanks for your comment. I feel you, it is a struggle sometimes to find a style that works.
      Have you tried any pre-tied tichels? Those are typically very lightweight and comfortable. Mine are from Israel (other than the one I sewed) but Sarah Attali Designs does some really nice ones that are available online.
      Also for me, I like to go for very lightweight and thin material, chiffon or airy viscose weave.
      I find that a good underscarf is really helpful to keep the scarf in place, so it might be something you could try instead. You might find it more comfortable and less tight than bands. 💗

    The only reason I like the askhenazi version more is that you can see the ears, but it looks great for you. Btw. how is the spehardic tradition for widows? In some parts of the middle east I heard that they still would wear a scarf, but it should be black as to show morning for the loss.

    If a Jewish woman is divorced should she wear a head covering?

    • @Miriam5718
      @Miriam5718 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ask an orthodox rabbi...but with that being said. If it is going to deter finding another partner, then one can uncover. But most divorced/widowed women cover their hair..(they often have children so continuity and the brachot that come with covering our respective hair are still in effect)...if a divorced or widowed woman is looking for a partner, a shadcham or people in the community will know she is seeking a new partner so there usually is no need to uncover. There are very strong kabbalistic reasons to cover woman's hair.

    Dear Jayelle, very informative and interesting video, toda raba! I'm rather on the Messianic site ( except that I' m Anti-Zionist) and was "Christian" as you before. But......I struggle with the Messianiks' modesty, as they have none ( and do not necessarily wear skirts etc.) and so I tend to you, the ultraorthodox community...why is everything only so complicated??? Well, back to the scarf: I'm really interested why you ultrao. women out there are not shaving your heads at all? Wouldn' t it be a lot easier than this? I mean not totally bold like skin heads, because of course, this forbids us the Torah, but if you wear a scarf or some a wig anyway every day , why do you have still long hair, resp. when can your husband really see you with your natural hair? Shalom from Frankfurt, Germany🔯💯!

    • @jayellealafi5797
      @jayellealafi5797  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Anita, the Torah says that women should have long hair, as it is her beauty. But it is beauty that is reserved for her husband only. He sees it when we are alone together.
      Btw, messianic is still christian, and the worst kind because they misrepresent the Torah and the truth. See this video by Rabbi Reuven. th-cam.com/video/35Ql-qA5uXA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EGhQg-ARc2_QQPHw

      Hello Jayelle, watched your video less than 5 minutes, because this man is cursing himself in blaspheming God's Word, sorry, that's it. I think we have to go separate ways, as there's no further agreement with both of us. Just one last thing I'd like you to think about is, that before you converted, you believed in the living God (Yeshua, not meaning any denomination, just biblical) , the New Covenant, and now as orthodox you're believing in a dead God, the Old Covenant, which is religion, because God Himself renewed this Covenant by sending Yeshua as faith of the Jews was only man-made tradition. Deep in your heart, you know that, as you by your conversion, have both covenants right before your eyes and you know the Torah & the Tanakh maybe better than me, you have the best prerequisites of a believer...it' s up to you. Blessings, A.
