Hi! If you've ever wondered what Orthodox Jews do when Shabbat is over, I am sharing the experience with you in this video!
We do a short ceremony called Havdalah, which distinguishes Shabbat from the rest of the week. This Shabbat was actually Shabbat Hanukkah, so we are lighting the menorah afterwards as well. :)
The Order of Havdalah (how to do the ceremony with all the blessings) is found in the siddur (Jewish prayer book).
If you do not yet have a siddur of your own, and would like some guidance on purchasing one, this video will help you with that. • What I Wish I Knew Abo...
Also the Order of Hanukkah is found in the siddur.
If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to post in the comments under the video. :)
    Hope you enjoy!

Hi Josh & Penny sitm, you're welcome, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
My calendar is from a local Chabad synagogue, if you have a Chabad in your area, I'm sure they would happily give you one in exchange for a small donation. (It's important to get a calendar made specifically for your location, since halachic times are location dependant.)
Alternatively, there is apps and websites that will give you the times for your area.
You're correct not to light a 7 branch menorah, those are for decorative purposes. The Hanukkah menorah has 9 branches, and these can be purchased at most Judaica stores or online.
Thank you for your support and encouragement, it is my honour and pleasure to share my knowledge (what little I have haha) and help people. 🤗💗

Can a woman also do havdalah?

    • @jayellealafi5797
      @jayellealafi5797  ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hi Tetti, great question! There is some halachic dispute here, but by us and the tradition we follow, a single woman would perform Havdalah for herself.
I would encourage you to ask your Rabbi if you have more questions about this and to find out if it's the same in your community. 🤗
      Hope this helps!

Then came the Feast of Hanukkah at Jerusalem. It was winter.
    23 verse
Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon's Porch.
    24 verse
The Jews gathered around him. They said, "How long will you keep us waiting? If you are the Christ, ( in greek CHRIST MEANS THE ANOINTED, THE MESSIAH) tell us plainly."
    25 verse
Jesus answered, "I did tell you. But you do not believe. The kinds of things I do in my Father's name speak for me.
    26 verse
But you do not believe, because you are not my sheep.
    27 verse
"My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me.

Those nice Jewish people must have been baffled at what he was saying. I read the whole gospel of John from beginning to end and my takeaway was, this Jesus was really full of himself and nothing like the Jesi of the synoptics. And in this gospel Jesus isn't even Jewish! Was he an Aryan? Or half-Jewish, half-Roman like his childhood friend, Brian of Nazareth? 😉

@@edwardmiessner6502 Are you reading the gospel of Yochanan from a Jewish or Christian perspective? Because last time I checked, Yeshua was 100% Jewish. Whether you believe He was a messiah or not, that is your thing. But the fact remains, He was raised Jewish. And for the record, they shouldn't have been baffled. They were Rabbis, correct? Knowledge in the Torah and Talmud at the time. They should have understood what He was saying. But their hatred got the better of them. But it was like what Yeshua said when He was thrown out of the synaguge in Nazaret: "A prophet is not welcome in his hometown" (Lucas 4:24). That is true with Yerimiyahu when he spoke the truth against the leaders in his day (that is, what they were doing in the temple, etc.)

I don't think you're convincing anyone with the chock-full of emojis and exclamation points. Not to mention, Christmas in essence is not a kosher holiday, considering the pagan roots (I'm talking way before Yeshua's birth). Knowing some Hebrew and still participating in other holidays that you clearly cannot find in the gospels, you have a long way to go to recognize that Christmas is not Yeshua's birthday. There is no set date on when He was born.
