I found this video by chance, this is so sad. My uncle used to live in mentor so when we traveled there which was a two hour drive we would go here sometimes. This was such a cool place and good food. According to my mom this used to be a Chichi's mexican restaurant
If you're ever in the Buffalo NY area again, there's a Quaker Stake thats been abandoned for a while, not far from the Eastern Hills Mall. It closed in 2015 and then became a Mexican restaurant, which also closed, and now it sits empty. There's also an abandoned Applebee's close by as well.
I’ve been to one of these once and I really liked it. I remember hearing about this restaurant from man vs food when I was a kid but wasn’t able to go to one until 2020 when I went up to Cleveland to see the abandoned city view center Walmart.
There's a quaker steak and lube in York pa and another one in Bloomsburg pa and if your into going to huge fairs Bloomsburg pa has a huge fair that goes the last week of September into the beginning of October
Hi Wally, I used to have a Quaker stick lube in Syracuse, New York, but it went on business a very long time ago. I am going to the ones in Syracuse, New York but now I think it’s like Jamison bar or something because when you look up Quaker steak and lube, Syracuse, a sports bar comes up. I miss Quackers taking lube and I definitely would go there if I had one near me, but I no longer have one.
Wallie, I have watched many of your videos, and other abandoned videos. I just have never understood why they leave so much behind! Chairs, decorations, etc.
I had a similar experience in a Virginia location. Slow service and prices that are just a bit too high. It took an hour from ordering to get the food. It sucks because I like their food it’s just the terribly slow service kills them.
I think their problem started when the TA Truck stop bought them. When it was in Sharon, Pa it was a fun destination with good food, then they franchised and just went downhill from there.
The one in my town also closed 4 years ago from the pandemic. Everyone was furious about it. Many attempts were tried to bring it back but all were a fail.
No problem Wallie! I have to agree with Quaker Steak and Lube. They have awesome aesthetics and it’s very unique. Food is good. However their prices is expensive. Last time I had Quaker Steak and Lube was in Medina a few months ago. The service was slow, the prices was outrageous just for 4 wings.
The next time you're in Cincinnati, you ought to check out the Quaker Steak that closed in Florence, KY. One of my best friends (who's also a friend of the channel) worked there for several years, and even served as their mascot for a time. They closed earlier this year because of a road reconfiguration off I-75 that made it take twice as long to get there and as a result the restaurant lost money that, thanks to the pandemic, it couldn't really afford to lose. As a result, they had to close their doors. It would be cool for you to check it out.
Great video. I love the looks of this restaurant, it reminds me a little bit of a Hooters we have here that had a major fire a few years ago and it recently reopened. Nine $ a beer you can buy a six pack for that. You can bet corporate greed is what closed it and many other businesses.
They have the Atomic wings that you have to sign a waiver to eat. I can’t stomach that heat but know many who do. I think the St. Clairsville OH location is still open.
this one is very similar to the one in robinson town center - not sure if it is one of the franchises that closed down when the chain was sold to Pilot or not
They closed in 2022. Their prices and service were not good. It opened around 2009 or so. When we would go to Pittsburgh, quaker steak and lube was a must stop. We were elated when they brought one to mentor. But after awhile we started going to Buffalo wild wings instead. They used to have a cool bike night there on Thursday nights.
Hey wallie! I'm a big fan and I've been watching the channel for years. Keep up the great work! Anyways, I found the most vintage burger king that is still in operation. They haven't remodeled the property at all! It's screams 80s and 90s, blue roof edition as well, it looks very similar to the one in Ohio with the huge sunroom. Same layout basically. If there is any way I can text you so I can send you the photos of the place. Heck, i know exactly where its at, and I took tons of photos as well. Sorry for such a long comment.
I actually have a long story of why I don’t like quacker steak and lube anymore my step brother was at a location in Virginia. The reason is he did the hottest wing challenge won the shirt but was sick to his stomach after the challenge. They used to be good but not anymore. I’m surprised the wheeling West Virginia one is still opened.
I had Quaker once, It was like a few months ago. The chicken sandwich was good, And it reminds me of Zaxby’s. (Also the Jr. car has the Nationwide series logo lmao)
Quaker steak n lube was bought out by travel america travel plaza. They’ve been closing locations and have been trying to integrate them into the travel plazas. The issue here is the original Sharon location was a novelty idea and it worked. Unfortunately the idea ended up getting turned into a huge business. The chain exploded far too quickly, the end result? Too many locations and too much overhead. Once they started selling their sauce in the local grocery store? That’s when I felt like they had expanded far too aggressively. As a regional chain? Yeah it was fine, unfortunately they’re still depending on the novelty to keep it going and you’ll only find that at the OG location in Sharon Pa ( which once remodeled has sone of its charm still existing but has lost quite a bit of it). I always wanted to do an automotive themed place but give it authentic garage vibes with rotating cars on display
Hey Wallie, have you ever had the QS&L locations in Colerain Township, Ohio; Florence, Kentucky; or Milford Ohio?(Cincinnati area) Or even the Wandering Griffin in Beavercreek Ohio (That used to be a QS&L in the Dayton area).
A lot of restaurant chains are run by a franchisee. The success and failure rate happens how that particular owner runs their business. The franchisee does get guidance and rules on how the business should be run, but it still depends on the execution. On a quick note, there used to be a few QS&Ls in Wisconsin, but that owner decided to go in another direction and walk away from the QS&L concept.
dude im on vacation in ohio and i watched this video like a week ago and i just now passed this very location and i was like no way i just watched a video about this
I don’t see the link to Chris’s TH-cam all I get when I look him up is the TH-cam for the country singer Chris Stanton also I love your content I have been watching you for several years now.
Many of these restaurants took a hit during the pandemic. And they had a hardtime getting employees. Had to raise their wages which in turn made them have to raise their prices. There are so many restaurants in mentor. Even McDonald's has gotten expensive. Why I don't eat out as much as I used to.
Cracker Barrel sales has declined too, and their new CEO said they are going to raise their prices too which is stupid as well. They are pricing their customers out of the market.
I’ve had the triple atomic wings. Horror. Finished them and got a decal for my trouble. Had ice cream afterwards. Tasted like the best ice cream ever. Never again. My nose ran. Awful. Their food overall was decent though. Prices and device were ok too. But this was a while ago. I’ve only been to a couple and I think they’re both gone.
Taco Bell employees had the nerve to tell me to my face that they raise prices every single day on either one item or everything on their menu. TB needs to stop ripping people off and go back to good customer service!
Annabelle's Diner in Mentor is always better. Over priced food? Yes, but better food, better experience and better turn out for classic cars. You should go see it. Also as a resident of Mentor I was surprised to see you take two 13+ minute videos of two closed places an NOT have the police on you. I know you were not doing anything wrong, just saying the police in Mentor are, let us say very active. That said very happy you put up a video on where I live.
I'll gladly support a family business that has a great atmosphere and food even if their prices are higher. But a chain like Quaker Steak with average food and ridiculous prices, no thanks. And yeah, I was left alone the entire time. I'm always respectful of places I visit.
In the past few years in exton pa they lost a lot of restaurants since covid they lost 2 Applebee's in the exton area they lost ruby Tuesdays which is now ab ihop they lost tgi fridays which is now a high end steak house now they just lost red Robin and unos pizzarea and I think part of in over the past few years they had a lot of indian people that live in that area from India and a lot of young yuppies to
I have to wonder what you would do with one of those inflatable cars.i want to get one of those old gas pumps ⛽bugar king ceo had a bonehead comment sometime back about their customers and theyve been closing restaurants like crazy since😐
And more fake no trespassing signs 🤦🏻 those things are so fake and people still are scared of them. A $2 piece of paper isn’t stopping me .🙄 That defeats the whole purpose of exploring. Good video though 👍
The original location in Sharon, PA is still the best!
I found this video by chance, this is so sad. My uncle used to live in mentor so when we traveled there which was a two hour drive we would go here sometimes. This was such a cool place and good food. According to my mom this used to be a Chichi's mexican restaurant

I know what that is! I used to go to the Mexican place, when it was there with a friend one time!
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
It was one of the better QSL locations i was honestly shocked when it closed because they never seemed to have issues with business.
I’ve been to one of these once and I really liked it. I remember hearing about this restaurant from man vs food when I was a kid but wasn’t able to go to one until 2020 when I went up to Cleveland to see the abandoned city view center Walmart.
I used to the one near Charlotte & have been to the original in Sharon. They had great wings
Excellent Video Wallie and keep it supporting Going.
Awesome Wall

Love your vids, Wallie!! Would really like you to cover some abandoned stuff in Alabama!!!
Hey, that's right by my work! I used to go there when I was a kid. They had Harleys, and a corvette hanging from the ceiling lol.
I enjoy watching your videos keep up the great work
I did the food service equipment there i think 2007. Never thought QSL would close.
I miss the one In Pittsburgh 😞I really wish they would put one back up closer to me I loved there wings..
Ate there when it was still open, it was such a good vibe in there and their food was amazing as well!

That place looks awesome
Awesome video once again ❤
Another great video! Never been to a Quaker Steak And Lube place before! Quite a place inside!
Medina is still open and the Sheffield Village one closed this year
I had a similar experience in a Virginia location. Slow service and prices that are just a bit too high. It took an hour from ordering to get the food. It sucks because I like their food it’s just the terribly slow service kills them.
Wallieeee I love your videos man your my favorite

The one in my town also closed 4 years ago from the pandemic. Everyone was furious about it. Many attempts were tried to bring it back but all were a fail.
You are so right about Quaker Steak in Columbia. I work across the street and have only eaten there once and will never pay for it again.
I also checked out the Quaker Steak and Lube in Sheffield. That one is awesome. It has a lot of cool stuff and it’s a pretty huge location.
that one too? The one in Florence, KY closed as well.

Been there we stop on our way back and to Tennessee very great food
I’ve been there before with my grandfather back in 2020

Ive been at the Sharon, Pa Lube. There are others in North Canton and Salem, Ohio....
Cool building.
Please come to Jackson Ohio and do Splashdown water park!
Cool video wallie
Those door handles are very unique looking wallie B 26 would like to have a set of those
There is a really neat looking one in York PA along route 30 food is excellent and service is good. It's only a mile from my in laws
@@shainahullihen1159 It is located at 1411 Kenneth Road in York. It is near Route 30.

The one open in Canton Ohio is really nice still it seems still open, just like this one
Awesome 👌 video
I live in Mentor, its been closed for a few years

Its been a while since I've been to a quaker steak I'd go to the location in valley view for their wings
Cool

Come to Dayton,Ohio I bet you will find some more stuff for your videos
I ate there a couple years ago cause I was on the road, and in the mood for wings. I am not surprised it’s now abandoned 😂
I think I was there in 2019
Kudos to your TH-cam Channel, Wallie! 👍👍👍👍👍 Honestly, I've never eaten at Quaker Steak and Luube.
If your ever down Trader Jacks Flea Market way stop into the main building and visit! Wish they would let you film too
The funny thing is, the service time at the closed location isn’t much slower than the open locations.
The one in Robinson Township is also closed.
Another awesome video 😊 but the prices in South Carolina sounds outrageous 😮😮😮 I'd say no way
Love the wrestling reference 👍

LydWetzel’s channel is great too she did that McDonald’s that you got into
Victory Junction needs that Richard Petty to display
When did they close?
I don’t see the link to Chris’s TH-cam all I get when I look him up is the TH-cam for the country singer Chris Stanton also I love your content I have been watching you for several years now.
Oops! I fixed it! Now you should see it in the description!
Prices are so high because they have to pay higher competitive wages.Plus higher ingredient cost(food cost). They pass it on to the customers.
Many of these restaurants took a hit during the pandemic. And they had a hardtime getting employees. Had to raise their wages which in turn made them have to raise their prices. There are so many restaurants in mentor. Even McDonald's has gotten expensive. Why I don't eat out as much as I used to.

Maybe WWE had a house show with a TLC match in that Quaker Steak
Lol!
I want that napa sign Das would love ot as a chase fan
What kind of camera do you record with?
Often times I just use my Samsung Galaxy S22+. I'm due for an upgrade but just haven't gone to the store to do so.

The employees don’t dictate prices it’s not their fault. At least they were honest with you about it.
They employees don’t make the prices, the franchise owner regulates the prices.
They need to stop using fake cheese whiz on every item too. All their food is like eating the same thing just rearranged.
I miss the one in Madison wi
Quaker Steak had the best loaded baked potato soup!
Never ate there and I live about 10 min away
I've never heard of this place.. is the concept that you can eat steak while getting an oil change?
Definitely no oil change lol just the restaurant. Haha
I was thinking this place had a legit garage attached to it.
Annabelle's Diner in Mentor is always better. Over priced food? Yes, but better food, better experience and better turn out for classic cars. You should go see it. You should do a video of the Abandoned Hong To in Willoughby Ohio, Closed permanently since 2022, Address is 4905 Robinhood Drive Willoughby Ohio.
I didn't realize they closed. I liked their original location better, but sad to hear this and Quaker Steak and Lube. They were very high priced!
Wow
They highly priced Yeah, Olive Garden is gone up over price.
I have to wonder what you would do with one of those inflatable cars.i want to get one of those old gas pumps ⛽bugar king ceo had a bonehead comment sometime back about their customers and theyve been closing restaurants like crazy since😐
Better use my Olive garden gift card before they close then? 🙄
I really Liked Quaker Steak and Lube, The one in Middleton, Wisconsin Closed back in 2018. F+L, Corey
That sounds like south Catalina over priced slower then a turtle
(11:29), The CEO needs more bonus money to make bad decisions.
And more fake no trespassing signs 🤦🏻 those things are so fake and people still are scared of them. A $2 piece of paper isn’t stopping me .🙄 That defeats the whole purpose of exploring. Good video though 👍
What a great concept for a restaurant 👌. Need to get their pricing in line.
Quaker Steak >> The new BK. More closed than open.
Olive Garden is overrated and the one in Canton Ohio is always packed.
