  • Exploring An Old Abandoned Chevrolet Dealership *DEMOLISHED*. A while back we joined forces with Stanton's Journeys and explored this old Chevrolet Dealership that closed and would later become a body shop prior to closing for good to be demolished. It was demolished to make way for facilities for a football team. At least the memory of the place was saved as well as taking a step back in time. Enjoy.

Alot of nostalgia seeing those older parts.. sad they all just went to waste. That large box at 4:43 may have been the entire side skin of an Express/Savana van.. when I had mine fixed, it came in a box about that size

I'm so impressed with your knowledge with car parts!
Nothing like cars from the the 1950's or 1960's where you could tell a Dodge, from a Ford, from a Buick, from a Pontiac, and so on!
It's like all have gone to that "Cookie-Cutter" shape, so you (pretty much) can't tell the difference! 😢 Makes me sad!

It is sad that these parts cannot be reused or taken to a scrap yard. So wasteful! My late hubby was a Chevy guy and loved his Silverado's and GMC Sierra's. I love all your knowledge of parts!!! I've had many Chevy's and I remember this dealership! I love all your informative and well researched video's 😊

Awesome video! It is not every day you get to explore an abandoned car dealership let alone find an abandoned one. I find that skeleton kinda funny! I agree with you on the Malibu vs Camry. We had a Malibu ,bought it brand new and the battery died 2 weeks later(no joke), we also had some major heater problems with it too. That is why I am a Ford Guy and hence why we have 2 Fords. They have not given us much problems except for maintenance. I am kinda curious about why you like GM? To me their cars and other automobiles are not that great compared to Ford.(I do know Ford has some junk cars too)

I would be so attempting to power that old computer equipment up. Who knows what is on the hard drives related to automotive history. same goes of the old GM manuals. and maybe a couple of those old can coozies lol.

It's an early dealership for sure. The original part of the building with the chimney and the garage dates from about 1952. The back shop was added about '60 and the showroom about '70. Not totally sure that it started life as a car dealership.

I like the older Chevy's and other GM cars a lot - I am thinking about getting an old Chevrolet Impala or possibly a Cavalier as my first car! I am also considering some cars like the Buick Lucerne and Pontiac Grand Prix as options too! It's a shame newer GM cars are not nearly as reliable as they once were - though they do look cool!

Old impalas are tragic rust buckets. The 01 to 12s especially, for some reason the rockers and understructure just dissolve. It’s why there’s so few on the road. Cavaliers are just as bad if not worse. The newest ones are almost 20 years old and unless you find a rare survivor you’re just not going to find one. Those you do find are essentially rotted away. Grand Prixs are pretty much dust in the wind too given they rotted away as bad as the impala. You might get lucky on the Buick, given the average age of a US Buick buyer was 69 years old

@@matthewcaughey8898 I like the old Regals too!
I have heard that - I was mostly interested in the 3800 engine (or the 2.2 for the Cavalier - both absolute tanks!) I was wondering if I could find one not rusted out if I look hard enough - I am in the south after all. I have seen a few...

Just put money in a Ziploc bag and mail it to the nearby Chevy dealership. So you're NOT stealing the bumper, but you're BUYING the buying it!
I'd recommend googling the price of a USED bumper, since it's not really new (sitting for X-number of years), deppreciation value, before paying up!
Again, you wouldn't be stealing if you paid for the part!

The books in the blue binders are actually parts books not service manuals. They go for good money on eBay believe it or not. Even if they were on microfilm which GM did later on they’re still worth money. Today’s parts department of course is all computerized.

There's going to be more dealerships similar to this one in the future. This is awful to see but with the effects of the pandemic and economic issues. Abandoned work places are going to be something of a normal occurrence all over the country. But what really bothers me is the abandoned schools because of really low enrollments and higher drop out rates.
