I like going to places where big events happened, but time has allowed the dust to settle; it usually offers a unique perspective. Most cameras disappear, but the story stays. What is that story like from the locals now? Always keep in mind that the people I talk to are the people I talk to. If I had gone to East Palestine on a different day, there would have been a completely different set of people to whom I would have talked to. This video provides an angle into the East Palestine story, and there are many angles in. There could be a whole video about Norfolk Southern, or one focused solely on agencies involved in the cleanup. Thank you for not having clickbait titles or thumbnail shots with you covering your mouth & gasping in disbelief. Your channel is on-the-ground journalism, not tabloid fodder.
I joined this is what we need hope the good Lord seands more like minded folks, you and only you have you and your followers an what they, they want they want, truthfull news. ✝️ ❤🫵
I always find it strange that the media talks about an issue like this for 2-3 days, then tries to act like it never happened. Good on you Peter for addressing this very real situation.
This event was in the news for several months, it was a huge story for quite a while. It went away not because of some intentional cover up, but because that's just how news works, especially national news. It would not be possible for major news agencies to provide updates on every development because there would just be far too many stories.
the fact that this corporation can just say "its safe" and everyone is FORCED to believe it is insane. We need more unions. We need to protect eachother. we need more power.
They seem like conscientious people with integrity and common sense unlike the two blonde women later, they seemed fake nice, convincing you that you dont have issues and that taking a quick profit makes it all fine in the end...One of them said that if people didn't like it they can sell and move as if someone would buy a house in a small town now known for being contaminated...come on, some people seem to want to stick to one version of events regardless of how one sided or tone deaf it may be.
@AA-iy4gm I agree. I think most of the people are just happy to get some settlement money but the first couple is 100% correct. Whatever peanuts they throw at these people is not enough.
My buddy is a chemist . Like he had said , " When they lit those cars on fire, they injured everyone breathing in the area . See when poly vinyl chloride was burned and it went up and hit the clouds ( water ) . It turned into Hydrochloric Acid that EVERYONE was breathing !" ... They did the cheapest way to dispose of chemical and get the railroad back running . $$$$ over lives .. Sad 😢
No, they probably figured it would be better in the long run to burn all the chemicals and dilute them in the air than leave them be and have them seep into the water supply, poisoning the population over decades. Also, highly skeptical of "my chemist friend." Sure buddy.
I live within four miles and actually, you won't have to pay taxes. They were misinformed or didn't read the settlement information. Laws were passed so we won't have to pay taxes.
Well, the Senate just stopped a bill that would have allowed the California fire victims to not have to pay tax on their settlements. They lose their homes, jobs (& 85 lives) in the Camp Fire, fight with their insurance company for a fair settlement (not) and have their insurance company not insure them anymore. Insurance companies have backed out of covering homes in what they deem fire areas by zip code. All homeowners had their policies triple in price AND homeowners (with no fire coverage) & have to get FIRE insurance through the California Fair Plan with high deductibles & only a % of coverage! Many insurance companies have left California.
Peter, regardless of someone’s position on this topic, I want to thank you for being an actual reporter. It’s so typical of the mainstream media, not do the hard work that you do.
That's not true of all journalists working for large organisations. I used to be friends with a journalist who put himself in danger covering conflicts and disasters around the world. He was arrested and threatened to be shot during a coup, shot at by a sniper in Iraq and much more. Once he returned to Australia, he helped share stories that other media companies weren't covering. I think it's unfair to label all of the "mainstream media" with the same brush, because that simply isn't true.
@@dertythegrower You don't know what you're talking about. journalists were never overpaid lol. They were almost always working class and in the last 15 years have been underpaid by a lot. Local papers have been cut. Do you know what you're talking about, buddy?
Anyhow, Peter just has zero fear of people. It doesn't matter how many people are around he will just walk up and socialize. That today is a hard thing to do for a lot of people. I give you props on many different levels.
@PeterSantenello is the new face of journalism. Three million subscribers testify to that fact. Even on independent media, journalists willing to just tell the truth, as experienced by the people involved, are as rare as hen's teeth. Most TH-camrs seem to be much more concerned about their agenda, views, and likes, than the truth, but at least a few shining beacons of truth like Peter can be found. I have to admit that I have been brought to tears a few times simply because people who have been silenced their whole lives had their story told truthfully for once by Peter.
I’m 45 minutes south of East Palestine and could feel the burning in my nose and eyes. Good luck to these folks, don’t trust the big money involved with the testing!
I hope the chemicals didn't effect your area for long enough to get into the soil and water or cause lasting harm. I saw this on twitter and wondered why it took the national media so long to recognize it.
I can tell you as someone who lives about about a 1/2 hr from East Palestine that Erin Brockovich was in our town in April. I believe she went and spoke with ppl in E. Palestine. I think its important these ppl aren't forgotten, bc in 5-10 yrs, if there are health issues that arise, I would want her on my side.
When the train FIRST derailed I literally thought of Erin Brochovich. She's a badass, no matter WHAT some people think of her. She specializes & cut her teeth on these types of residents vs. chemical negligence. 🎉🎉🎉
i think its wild how mainstream media swept this under the rug so fast and nobody gives us an update, thank you Peter! also the lady that said its not that bad i wonder if she’ll think the same in 20 yrs
This is the Peter Santenello style I fell in love with years ago! This is raw, talented journalism, amazing editing and storytelling, and most of all, taking risks in conflict areas to tell a powerful story ... Keep up the amazing work, Peter! 👏👏👏
Michelle, the one you met at the family reunion at the park is my cousins wife. Cool to see you here in my area and glad you're spreading this around because humanity tends to move on with their lives like nothing ever happened while we still have to deal with it.
Was cheering Squirrel Tribe also to keep this in the minds of the masses. Erin Brockovich etc...Peter came through. Your in my prayers and thoughts. Thanks for commenting.
The family at the end really gave me classic vibes. Kids that weren’t raised on social media and really had no interest in it. The little boy in his overalls climbing the ladder with dad and the lemonade stand. Glad to see families in today’s world like that.
They'll never get paid. IF they win, it will be tied up in appeals for years, if not decades. That's entirely by design. In the end the lawyers will get the lion's share. Class action lawsuits sound a lot better than they usually turn out to be.
The biggest thing out of this I got was the family talking about what mainstream media did people need to pay attention they literally said "we would tell them this is how it went and the next day when there story came out it was the exact opposite of what we said and if they do that here imagine what they do other places" she also said "I haven't watched mainstream media since this happened its a waste of life to watch that" people like Peter should be what media is going forward just someone that goes in with no bias or agenda and gets real stories from real people thank you for what you do sir
My mom watches the news for hours every single night and follows it religiously and it just kills me how she doesn't see its a waste of time and that its also heavily skewed in one direction with an agenda. When all the stuff with palenstine and isreal first started, news like msnbc was on the side of isreal and i remember her saying something like good for isreal for defending themselves like that because the news she watched was on isreals side and painted a picture that isreal was right. Come a few weeks later and msnbc came to realize palenstine was the victims and all of a sudden she started talking about what awful things were going on in palenstine. Its a shame when people cant tell that the news they are consuming is biased and focused on an agenda, right or left.
@@morganriddiford2646 my mom does the same thing too I think alot of it is when they were younger the news was actually the news not all the doom and gloom and political propaganda it is today
@@morganriddiford2646 Israel was the victim of a massive terrorist attack, so of course the media supported Israel. But over time it became clear that their response was killing far too many civilians. The world isn't black and white, both the governments of Israel and Gaza (Hamas) are war criminals/terrorists. You're not wrong that there is bias in the media, but that is true of everything you consume (including this channel). It can be as simple that bias from eyewitnesses, or bias from our cultural experiences. What is important is critical literacy and understanding which way the media which you're viewing may be misrepresented.
I feel for these people. I have worked in the plastics industry for 25 years (2 places) and breathed in the dust, smoke and chemicals and now I have COPD and struggle to breathe normal I hope that they don't have to go thru this.
Turkey 🇹🇷 is a beautiful country. Unfortunately prone to earthquakes. The kind lady was so right to get her children straightened out on inconvenience vs tragedy.
Peter, you really found your calling. You are quite amicable, respectful & unassuming, putting people at ease. You go to places to remind ours of recent and historical times. Keep doing you!
Yeah, id be telling Norfolk to shove it up their ass, and if I develop a disease later in life that can be connected to the chemical spill, ill be seeing them.
ONLY if one could use that money for better purposes - but I totally agree. (edit : That also should never be an agreement to lose ones right to be future compensated or to sue in the future etc.)
there is a clear agenda happening, that owns media, politics. and top institutions and industry. humans are brainwashed and obeying a system that is enslaved them and creating chaos for control, it will stop when enough of us understand this .
I can't believe they soaked it up from the creek and took it to a park and washed it into the ground. Sending you a settlement and 1099ed people. Amazing. I trust my ruling class as far as I can throw 'em.
You know its sad how many pets dropped dead as a result as well as wildlife, there is more to this story than being shared, no one wants to buy a house there not even if its cheap!
Wow, that welder and his wife have an uncommon amount of common sense and common knowledge. Those children are incredibly lucky to have parents like that.
I can see you or others seeing that family as having a positive attitude about things and just making do with what theyre given. I have serious concerns with their lack of interest in holding this company accountable. Lots of "the media" talk and keeping her kids off "youtube" which seems to translate to making sure her kids have only the mindset that she and her husband have and dont get to have all of the information, but only what their parents want them to have. It is awful seeing people who have had a massive burden put on them, their family, their health, and their livelihood all in the name of saving money by a massive and wealth corporation. They may have their lives shortened for it, all because of negligence caused by a greedy company that wont spend the appropriate amount of money to prevent these severe and dangerous accidents from happening. But what they claim to be concerned with is 'moving on', but arent worried about pressing upon these awful business practices to ensure this doesnt happen to someone else. That should be a core concern for anyone in a similar situation. No right is being made for all the wrongs. She's complaining about the media lying to people about crops being grown in the area and that somehow she knows better because she stands to benefit financially from growing crops there... what in the hell are we doing here? shes advising that she has been informed by some media sources (possibly and maybe likely from educated sources) that its probably a bad idea to consume food grown in the area, but admitting that she doesn't care for what she's been told because it could make her money. That mentality is as bad as Norfolk Southern and she's willing to risk other people's health for a little extra money. I just feel bad, like bad stuff happened to them and theyre happily complacent about it, and kind of actively malicious regarding potentially further impacting others.
She knew my name somehow..... Peter. You've got over 3million subs and you focus on uplifting communities and neighborhoods many folks have heard of but have no personal experience seeing. Its very easy to travel "with" you on your channel. You are an icon to many small town people :P
Man those ladies just seem so out of touch. "They could have just sold their house and moved if they wanted". Not that easy when your entire life is in an area.
Exactly, and who is going to buy a house in a contaminated area? Even if the house does sell, it's going to be decreased in value, the money from selling the house would not be enough to get established elsewhere.
I’m 100 miles from where this happened and we could small it days after it happened for a few days at least. I can’t imagine living there and going through this. The settlement is absolutely not worth what this could do to the locals health. Thank you for this coverage, Peter. Living in the same state we only saw this on the news and social media for a week or two. Bless the locals that are still there!
I live in Beaver Falls - 30 miles north of Pittsburgh, and 13 miles from East Palestine. This whole series has made my heart happy! I’ve watched you for a long time and hoped you’d get here to our little corner eventually. Thank you for doing what you do - you are one of the few true journalists around with no bias or agenda beyond showing us life as it actually is for locals. Your work is important and I’m grateful for you!
This is stuff you never see reported. The actual voices and thoughts of the people here… just random folks here. This is interesting to se. thank you Peter. So grateful for your channel.
18:12 she just tanked any court case she might ever try in the future due to illness. it's almost like she's in a deep denial over it. this was serious & continues to be, just because one can't smell it doesn't mean a thing.
Hey Peter. Hope you are doing well. I’m sorry but I have a question that is totally unrelated to this video…. Some people are saying some really bad things about Titus Morris and I wonder if you could help clear some things up or do you even know about what people are saying.? I’m certainly not accusing him of anything because I know nothing but what I have heard and seen on TH-cam. I really don’t even want to say what they are accusing him of but I would like to know if you could help and clear some things up for the people that are concerned like me. I’m concerned they are dragging him through the mud for no reason but like I said I know nothing but what I have seen on TH-cam. I know you’re a very busy person and hopefully you can help clear some things up for the public. I know I’m being very vague because I do not want to spread more junk about someone that might not be true. thank you.@@PeterSantenello
To the lady who spoke at @36 minutes + or -, God bless you for putting the situation in perspective. Your family is fortunate to have you as their matriarch. ❤
Thank you for coming to E. Palestine! Once again, i must commend you on your amazing work. If only mainstream media could be as genuine and honest as you have been… 🙄😉😊 But i digress. It means alot to me that you even gave them the time, so im sure, without a doubt, that the locals there appreciate you doing this as much as i do. Thank you again!
We had an Uncle that was in WW1 that suffered from mustard gas exposure. Treated at the VA in CLE in the 60's. Sum of the same chemicals in the "burn". I pray for all affected by this disaster.
Yup same thing for my great uncle in canada. Our own gov paid the men extra to stand in the field and close their eyes while they got sprayed. to test the gas
Thank you for doing this interview. I live 20 miles from East Palestine and it’s been mind blowing to have experienced this personally and also to see the exposure it has received nationwide. I could smell the chemicals from inside my house after the derailment. To this day I wonder what, if any impact this will have on my health.
You have truly encapsulated what journalism used to be and to better credit yourself. The absolute level of respect you give to the people of the area that had been afflicted by whatever the situation may be is commendable. Keep doing what you're doing. Great work, great respect, great journalism, and great integrity 👏 🎉👍
As someone who grew up homeschooled but with a parent that allowed social media, those kids are beyond fucked, socially. That girl talked about not understanding memes and the mom not allowing TH-cam, but having a general knowledge of pop culture is the easiest way to break the ice when meeting new people. Best of luck to those kids, but living a socially inept life like that in modern society is going to turn them into those Weird Homeschoolers everyone hates and fears

First video of yours I've ever seen. Gotta say, I appreciate your style. No spin, just walking around listening to what people are willing to volunteer. Excellent work.
I have a little fish pond and I'm 20 minutes north. When it rains we sometimes get weird film on top of our water that looked like the things they were finding in the beginning (shiny spots). Had some fish die. I got the notice in the mail for the class action thing. Our water has been over chemical tasting, wrecks your hair. I had way better water in Columbus Ohio. We moved up here a couple months before it happened thinking we were heading somewhere safer. Nowhere's safe.
My Aunt lives in New Springfield, my other Aunt Canfield & I was born at North Side Hospital but I live in Tampa. That has to affect the water & air in the whole area . You're pond says it all.
I'm so sorry for you moving thinking it would be better and then going through such a horrible event. Prayers for you and everyone who's affected by this.
I liked hearing the mom talking with her family at the shipping containers perspective on the news about the derailment vs the earthquake in turkey at the same time.
And shut their businesses down. Nefarious. They are trying to choke us to death financially. We've had one of the best water years ever and they shut the water off to Idaho farmers. Their crops will die if they don't get water soon. It's harvest time and they are deliberately destroying the food supply! It's time to rebel and take our country back!
Yet many are "happy" and content after being paid... it's so sad to see folks don't care to think about the near future and what it looks like for coming generations..a coworker of my husband's lives in epal and he isn't so kind about it all.
Not a town multiple states . The river /creekthat was contaminated flows to Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. Things like this will settle to the bottom of bodies of water and people will not actually experience the side effects fully until after years on down the road..
Yeah, its unfortunately not the only town in that county that has been poisoned. A town a few miles south of this called East Liverpool has a cancer rate 3 times the national average due to a waste incinerator spilling toxic chemicals all over the town about a decade ago its shameful and sad.
I adore the last family you talked with! wonderful family with wonderful hearts! the values that are being taught there are what we were supposed to be creating!! I pray they are blessed, along with anyone impacted by this disaster. These folks seem so lenient with how things have been handled!! I also understand the options are limited. So pleased to hear Erin has been involved!! Bless that woman!!!!
That last family in particular was lovely. Totally aligned to their approach of keeping their kids/teens off social media and the Internet as long as possible.
I live in eastern MA and days after this there was rain fall here that left a white residue on everything. When people started pointing it out "experts" said it was not related but I have never seem anything like it before or after.
Thank you Peter. So good to have a report 18 months later. As the last person you interviewed spoke of how the MSM wasn’t really interested in their point of view but a sensational story. So happy to see the people thriving and living life again.
All I can say is, Wow! The contrast from the mainstream media versus the people who had first-hand experience is night and day! I hope there aren’t underlying issues that will pop up 10, 20, 30 years from now!
I trained as a Chem Engineer...despite disliking the chemical industry...my home town was filled with soot and sulphurous fumes on a daily basis...pit stacks everywhere you looked...grotty streams with no fish...it was the pits...and it was the pits...there was one every half a mile...they used to dump chemicals regularly into rivers, every now and then get caught, pay a fine...day after...pumping their toxic waste in there again. The way industry works is shoddy...and they make very arbitrary estimates of what is safe, and not safe...in other words, they have no idea. You wont know the full impact of this spillage for maybe 30 yrs at least...and thats assuming research is done...which it probably wont be...thanks Peter for highlighting a major issue in this world through the effects of this one incident...they could happen anywhere, anytime...Mankind would have been better off living naturally...thats my thoughts...besides, I could have studied something else then...or become a lumberjack
Allied Chemical did the same here in VA. Dumped Kepone into the James River, which now is an obsolete insecticide. It was hushed up even after it killed fish in the river.
@@jgwood10 They imagine they can do what they want, almost out of sight, out of mind. I think by the time mankind began using these chemicals and ecologically destroying the planet, and the wildlife, animals, and humans on it...they had become so sociopathically retarded, they no longer knew of the dangers to themselves and others. I guess it's like children playing with fire...and one day, there's no doubt in my mind much of the earth will either be poisoned or burn due to men's indiscretions towards nuclear power and his ineptitude to lead a 'normal' and natural way of life. The earth can only take so much...but still the intellects, seek new formulas ...with both eyes on the profit margins. SAD!
Happrned here near Boulder at Rocky Flats with their nuclear weapon component production. Only time in history one U.S. Agency has raided another. Greedy developers continue to try and build on the contaminated superfund site. Newcomers have no idea
Hi Peter! I'm one of your new subscribers. just Love your travels, especially your tour of Native tribes, & that wedding proposal was adorable! ... He's also still covering the water/pipes problem in Flint Michigan, and another town being poisoned by a paper-processing mill ... that one's in Ohio, I think.
So almost immediately after this happened, they hired a ton of maintainance people at Norfolk Southern that had been laid off year prior. I know this because about two weeks after this happened, they called a buddy of mine who I work with. He had been laid off 5 years ago from NS. He went back, and then 6 months later he had called me telling me there were new rounds of layoffs coming. They hired a bunch of people to make it look like they were solving the problem until the cameras and attention went away. Then they started handing out bags of money to keep the residents quiet. This is why you have a lot of people who won’t talk on camera, they signed off saying they won’t say anything about it.
Former railroader here. Railways could care less about the environment or people, it’s all about money. Don’t trust them !!!!! Especially NS bottom of the barrel

We love you too, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. Hope to make it to Australia someday. A college mate of mine unintentionally convinced me the people of Australia are the best in the world.
This is why a lot of americans are so mad right now. Areas like this are being turned into 3rd world countries will still being taxxed to hell and being told they need the money for “global responsibilities”. No, WE need that money for food and rent nowadays 🙄
@farzana6676 I have always looked towards the USA as a great country, land if opportunity. Only my perspective from what I have seen from the news and youtube. Compared to poor countries where they have alleged corrupt governments. The way the homeless, the sick the vets are looked after, seems wrong. Like the government and major corporations want your money but don't want to give any back when you need it. Correct me if I'm wrong. Only what I see

I grew up going to East Palestine Pool in the summer (the 80's), what great town it was. What is sad is the young people that are SICK, getting mocked when they go to local hospitals. The hospitals REFUSE to test for dioxins that are truly making these people ill.

I smell a non-disparagement clause attached to the settlement! The way SO MANY people had the same talking points: we don’t know what’s going to happen 5-10 years from now, if we do get sick, we don’t know if it was from something else before the spill, the EPA and Norfolk listened to us and are doing a great job…. There’s NO WAY everyone said the same stuff without being coached by the people holding the bag!

CNN & the establishment media are all a part of the coverup. True journalism is done. No different than what happened in Butler, PA. The media is not interested in getting any answers or conducting true investigations. Thank you to Peter for this channel that provides real insight from an unbiased perspective.
It's sad what happened and they need to be compensated. But I noticed everybody knows exactly, sometimes up to the foot how far away they live from the ground zero. Thank you for shedding the light on America and the World, You are a good man. God Bless!
20 minutes in the lady in the pink shirt represents so much of Ohio. If they read it, they believe it. Interest rates are high, inventory is low. She makes it sound so simple and true.
Is easier for someone to believe in a lie than it is to convince them they were lied to. She seems like a "glass half full" type, but she also contradicts herself. The health problems are immediate and long term. These are forever chemicals that water treatment plants can't remove. Water and air are life, but unfortunately the railroad is a corporation that gets what they want.
Only way to know water is good.. is going yourself, getting the vial filled, and having multiple out of state college level labs test it.... otherwise, could be simply a 'paid off' lab, and yes those exist as ive seen people 'shop labs for the best result' for hplc testing law rules confirmation
Many grew up watching a certain news channel, what you believe depends on which way they lean politically. As a kid watching Cronkite it didn't seem that there was a spin on it,they just reported it. You can't help but think there's more to dividing us. I believe what happened there will cause problems down the road. I was in the Marines in the 70s & the water there was contaminated & yrs later many died because of it.
These are the people who are afraid of 'big city' folk from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus. They are a lot stereotypical rednecks and hillbillies who love that pay day though - probably the most they've ever seen.

I hauled hazardous waste water out of EP from the start of the derailment to the end of the clean up, it was more than 18 months. It was exceptional pay but I’m glad it’s done. Towards the last several months of the clean up one of the delivery/ disposal location was in Huntington, WV. They wanted us to do 1 load per day which was stressful AF. It’s a 10 hr 30 min drive round trip 5 days per wk pulling a tanker through the WV mountains. Not fun. I considered quitting my job, but thankfully I was able to stick it out till the clean up came to an end. I love my job as a chemical tanker driver and I love the company I work for, just didn’t like that route. I still have pics on my phone of my truck and tanker backed up to the wreaked train cars during the first week of the wreck. They were pumping out any remaining product before scraping the wrecked train cars. It not the first train derailment I’ve been to and won’t be the last, but it will likely be the largest one.
Great historical quote... Gotta say again.. 1, Joe did not even visit.... 2, The EPA, barely did any work... But they sure moved a lot of insurance money around, and ignored people there...
The irony is that one party is openly suggesting dictatorship now, and nobody is even raising their eyebrows, many say outright that the country needs it. It will not end well.

I always find it strange that the media talks about an issue like this for 2-3 days, then tries to act like it never happened. Good on you Peter for addressing this very real situation.
It was in the news for like a month
And if they do, it's only to steer people's opinion away from the true disaster it is.
Locally it’s been in the news for a long time
This event was in the news for several months, it was a huge story for quite a while. It went away not because of some intentional cover up, but because that's just how news works, especially national news. It would not be possible for major news agencies to provide updates on every development because there would just be far too many stories.
They don't 'try' to act like it didn't happen, they just move on on the next story.
That couple on the porch speaks about the subject so clearly that I can obviously tell it's weighing on their minds every single day...
the fact that this corporation can just say "its safe" and everyone is FORCED to believe it is insane.

No, they probably figured it would be better in the long run to burn all the chemicals and dilute them in the air than leave them be and have them seep into the water supply, poisoning the population over decades.
Also, highly skeptical of "my chemist friend." Sure buddy.
To have to pay taxes on settlement $ of 70K is insult to injury.
yeah im with you there, that is just ridiculous
Right
It’s weird cause everyone is entitled to a one time tax free settlement
I thoroughly enjoy your humble, non partisan approach to all matters you cover.
Peter, regardless of someone’s position on this topic, I want to thank you for being an actual reporter. It’s so typical of the mainstream media, not do the hard work that you do.
That is why their industry is lowering pay and jobs, they were lazy and overpaid for decades...
Agreed!
Watching main stream media is wasting time in your life..
Are there any creators with channels that you’d recommend who are of a similar caliber as Peter and his work? Would love to find more similar content.
Good question. Peter is unique in that he listens carefully and follows up with great unscripted inquiries.
Please keep shedding light on this.... The couple ,being interviewed on the front of their porch, know exactly what is going on.
I believe them too.
This might be the only video he does on it. But, at least he had this one to bring attention to it.

The people of East Palestine need to do a class action lawsuit. Don't take the payoff!
That’s what they are doing and it’s a very small payout!
They'll never get paid. IF they win, it will be tied up in appeals for years, if not decades. That's entirely by design. In the end the lawyers will get the lion's share. Class action lawsuits sound a lot better than they usually turn out to be.
We need Erin Brockovich on this

@Lincoln_Vail unfortunately...this is true.
They are truly the Enemy of The People.

Jordan Chariton's Status Coup has been covering this story on-the-ground since the incident. I think you might Really enjoy chatting with him. He's also still covering the water/pipes problem in Flint Michigan, and another town being poisoned by a paper-processing mill ... that one's in Ohio, I think.
Best videos on TH-cam! 👍
Thanks for supporting the channel!
This is why you have a lot of people who won’t talk on camera, they signed off saying they won’t say anything about it.
thank you for doing what's right @peter.
Former railroader here. Railways could care less about the environment or people, it’s all about money. Don’t trust them !!!!! Especially NS bottom of the barrel
As a boilermaker welder in Australia. He's not sick from his trade. Wise up America. Im starting to feel for Americans the same i feel for the poorest country in the world. Love everyone.
We love you too, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. Hope to make it to Australia someday. A college mate of mine unintentionally convinced me the people of Australia are the best in the world.
What does that even mean? Feel for America the way you feel for the poorest country in the World.
Only what I see
@GoodShepherdBandFan Some of us are ok😄. I like it here. I would love to see the US one day or weeks. The wildlife, the natural wonders, and the man made structures. All look amazing. I can see why a lot of you are so patriotic.
I grew up going to East Palestine Pool in the summer (the 80's), what great town it was. What is sad is the young people that are SICK, getting mocked when they go to local hospitals. The hospitals REFUSE to test for dioxins that are truly making these people ill.
Where? I live in Chippewa. That park has been dirty since far before the train derailment.
@@philpit82 My mom's best friend lived there in the 1980's. The Wigton family. I agree that it went downhill. Somewhere in the 90's it needed an upgrade.
@@openyoureyes3969 America hospitals are as deranged as the Railroad workers
Reading this was so intense. If thats true, this really opens up a whole can of worms for me my dude.
The medical industrial complex is a part of the problem.
Plants over pills,
Big Pharma k!lls.
I loved the homeschooling family! I enjoyed hearing the wisdom the wife shared with her children, and it was just nice to see parents who set boundaries for their children, so they can have an actual childhood.
I'm very good friends with one of the fathers sisters.
My thoughts exactly before I even read your comment
Yep, the only way to get money they greatly need was to sign their life away.
@@Cr15t1n3 ... Exactly! There are many residents who are sick and have been treated like criminals by the residents who aren't sick. Don't believe anyone that says what a tight knit community it is. Maybe it was years ago, but those days are long gone. Anyone treating someone who got sick by Norfolk Southerns toxic chemicals like a criminal, is a criminal themselves. It's so disgusting. There has been paid opposition FOR SURE.
So cynical you don't believe the locals
The difference is that the locals have a sense of integrity, unlike you.
Wow Pete
Thanks for checking on this story and the people
Even CNN hasn’t gone back
True journalism!
Best to everyone in Palestine OH ❤
CNN doesn't talk about anything negative that happens under a D administration. Ever.
CNN and msnbc... is full on disinfo, daily now
"Even CNN"? Hilarious.
CNN & the establishment media are all a part of the coverup. True journalism is done. No different than what happened in Butler, PA. The media is not interested in getting any answers or conducting true investigations. Thank you to Peter for this channel that provides real insight from an unbiased perspective.
CNN hasn't covered anything fairly since 9/11
It's sad what happened and they need to be compensated. But I noticed everybody knows exactly, sometimes up to the foot how far away they live from the ground zero. Almost like it's a status symbol how close you are. I worry how many times things like this have happened without us knowing it. Thank you for shedding the light on America and the World, You are a good man. God Bless!
I live in Canada and we could taste the air from here. Can only imagine what these people went through and still going through.
Ohioans aren't the brightest
Thanks brother. You show all of the stories that make us America. If you ever want to come to New Haven or Hartford Connecticut I could give you a great historical tour
Some real history there... being forgotten
Is the mugging or drive by shooting included in the tour? Remember when everyone OD'd on the green by Yale a few years ago? 😅
That's an interesting place, but how long u lived there? How much history do u really know?
Massive respect for you Peter in seeking permission to record people and the children too.
Great video .The kids' reaction to the amount of money they made with the lemon aide stand was priceless.A lemon aide stand in 2024.The American dream lives on
My favorite part of that conversation was the father's reaction to what the mother said about it not being a true reflection of business. 😂
love seeing someone shed some perspective onto these small Ohio towns. I was born & raised in Ohio and now become a city boy in NYC. Videos like this bring me back
Still living in my small rural Ohio town. There is no amount of money that would convince me to move to NYC. 😂

That blonde lady is sweet and optimistic, but so naive. She and her family and generations of their families, are essentially consigned to a life of complications. Its one thing to be positive, its another to be naive and ignore the writings on the wall.

The craziest thing about Peter and His Channel... That more and more people are recognizing Him and are willing to tell Their story for the record. I look forward to every video. Thank You Peter
So Huntington WV was where they disposed of all the toxic waste?
“No matter how paranoid or conspiracy-minded you are, what the government is actually doing is worse than you imagine.”
- William Blum
Great historical quote...
Gotta say again..
1, Joe did not even visit....
2, The EPA, barely did any work...
But they sure moved a lot of insurance money around, and ignored people there...
It was a private company that caused the derailment. Not the government. You got what you wanted.
The irony is that one party is openly suggesting dictatorship now, and nobody is even raising their eyebrows, many say outright that the country needs it. It will not end well.

Love the homeschool mom with her realistic and balanced perspective. Blessings to everyone in East Palestine as the community movies forward.
The settlement attorneys completly let the residents down. No one will be able to leave the toxic town with the amount they are getting... Disgusting.
That’s for sure It’s a travesty
See this is real journalism. Not politics or opinions or theater just real facts from people who lived it. Screw the main stream media.
