You have a good way of giving a review, however, you fell short when describing the keyboard. You obviously did not use the Passport long enough to know all of its great design features. If you do know them, you didn't show them. For example, rather than holding down the backspace key to delete a word, just swipe from right to left on the physical keyboard and your last word is erased in one stroke. When you want to use the highlighter, you do not need to tap the screen first, just double tap the keyboard and the highlighter will appear. To get the numbers on the old Blackberry keyboard, you had to use the alt button; on the new Passport keyboard you just swipe down from the top of the keyboard and you have your numbers and special characters. The Passport keyboard is different, but it is well designed. I have been using a Passport for the last month and yes, you need to get used to the differences, but it is smooth sailing after that. The keyboard is so good, that I usually keep on typing as opposed to swiping up the suggested words. Keep up the good reviews. Please use the phone a little more before reviewing it so your review is a little more accurate.
Well said...the keyboard is genius, but it does take some getting used to that's all...especially if you are not familiar with the OS. I switched from the Q10 to the Passport and the learning curve is not a big concern when you know the swipe gestures etc. of BB10...it just feels like I've upgraded to an exciting new Blackberry experience. I really don't understand a lot of the negative comments from people who don't even know about the Os or how to use it.
I enjoyed your presentation. I picked up one off ebay for $90.00.... My BB Priv broke and I decided to return to BB10 for the remainder of its advertised lifetime (January, 2020). Even in 2019 the phone is lightening quick and battery life is surreal. I respectfully disagree about your critique of the keyboard. It takes some getting used to, but once acclimated it is an extremely enjoyable experience. The swipe feature is amazing and the track pad capability is phenomenal. I do agree with the placement of the spacebar being awkward. In addition, the spacebar is too narrow for my liking... But I def love this device and am going to enjoy the next 11 months riding out bb10's life support with my passport!
I have to disagree with you about the keyboard. I've been using the samsung s3 for about 2 years now and still managed to easily getting used to the passport keyboard, infact I think its even better than the bb cures one I've been using back these days.
1:it's not, you can watch videos and run Google apps 2:there is a way that you can download the play store and install Android games 3:you can download music, videos, apps, pictures and much much more the point is, this smartphone is for anyone
13shivan how does it help me being more productive what does it feature differently than any other phone ?! it looks nice but other than that it has nothing to offer it is not the fastest phone and it doesn't have the best camera and it offers no extra features to help me be " more productive "
I am a fan of Blackberry. First one was BB Z30 and I loved it, bought it about two years ago and it is still in the same condition. I've bought this one online, hope it amazes me..
I got the silver edition and I can't believe how well crafted this phone is. It is just gorgeous, the reinforced stainless steel frame is a joy to behold. I had to send back the HTC10 I just bought because I can't stand android and it's entire Ecosystem. This phone is indeed an eye turner. Everybody wants to know what kind of phone and who made it.
I must say, at first glance the phone looks awkward to hold because of the dimensions. But my father recently bought it, and after I held it for the first time, I really loved the way it felt in the hand. I mean seriously, if premium feeling is what you want, this phone should be seriously considered. The OS, that's another story for another time.
Have switched from iPhone to Passport and after only a week I'm blown away, and wondering why I didn't jump ship earlier... the iPhone is a great phone, but this baby is giving me joy to use... the strength is the keyboard and with its beautiful jesters for many things... no need to use the onscreen shift key, as holding down the letter CAPS it... bad review Btw!¡!
Personally for me the Blackberry app store covers most of my needs, then there's the Amazon's built in app store, which has Spotify... but then it goes on further with the app called Snap, which has all the android apps, but some of these apps don't work, but for me I'm not disappointed, as I use my BlackBerry Passport to communicate and not use it as a toy, have my iPad mini for that... it's strange at first when you swop from the iPhone, but after a week or so, you will notice how fluid the swipes are, compared to pushing a button between apps... I'm only using the apps from BlackBerry's app store, as these are built for BlackBerry, thus run supper quickly! The square screen has a point, you will only notice it when you're using it for a few days, web pages, emails and replying to TH-cam comments looks full with information compared to a narrow but long screen, BlackBerry have obviously put loads of thought into using square over rectangular, as it's not just to be different, but much more practical, but it's better than the long screen in my opinion, despite some reviews because of watching videos, if you want to watch videos, then use a lager device, and that goes for all phones, as it's a pocket device meant for communication and not trying to be an everything... I still have no regrets, and I'm still finding new features that excite me after a months use... the Blackberry platform is super stable and had nothing frozen unlike Android sometimes does, and even my iPhone did a few times which was a shock... the iPhone was once a beautiful simple device, but they ruined it by trying to keep up with the market of Android, thus making it more complicated than a mission to Mars, the navigation on the iPhone has now become a horrible experience making the BlackBerry's OS so pleasing to use, very simple and clean, but has so many more options, useful options may I add... it's not for everyone, but my goals are met fully and having the known security of BlackBerry makes it even more the device I want to keep. You'll only know for sure once you've tried, no guarantees tho, as everyone is different, and those who use BlackBerry are different people, and we are those who don't follow the cloning sheep band waggon of Apple, but choose what we want without being advertised this is what you have to have... notice BlackBerry stays neutral and keeps itself to its self, as they know you either want a Blackberry or you don't... hope all my blah blah helps... plenty of info out there so do what I did, and research your needs, then you'll know if it's right for you :))))
Im coming over from an iPhone and just want something different, I've had android and IOS for years now, and i dare touch windows phone haha, hence the need for Blackberry
What is your Prime use for a phone?¿? To communicate probably... this is what the Blackberry does the best... the iPhone is just a toy really... know what you mean about Windows Whahahabhua
Mine arrives tomorrow. I'm keeping my 6 S Plus but I'll be using this for its battery, reception and I need a phone using a different network. I think this phone will go down as a classic.
there are a lot of unmentioned features about the keyboard, you don't have to use the screen to type any symbols or number, u just swipe down on the keyboard, and then type the corresponding symbol by pressing the physical key...just like the old blackberry keyboard, but its a swipe instead of pressing alt. and for shift u just long press any key...the keyboard has a higher learning curve , which this reviewer obviously didn't learn, and all the "fail" points he mentioned are invalid due to this...lack of third party apps ? you can download and use almost any android app, and the last time i checked android has a huge collection of apps that runs perfectly on the passport. i do agree that the camera has a slow focus and the learning curve for the BB10 is a bit steep but i find that the OS experience is worth it...
Liza L. yes got the phone, and happy with it, getting the new DTEC 50 as i always like to have 2 phones, to switch from one to the other every month or so
this is a phone for specific user's I own a Blackberry z10 for me this phone does it all, it has been a very solid piece of kit for over the past year, I cannot see myself wanting a passport, but I would be interested to see if they bring up another touch screen phone, OS 10.3 is an amazing system and the one thing that I love about Blackberry OS is it's very functional and it'smeant for productivity, I have tested and reviewd Apple new phone and system, not impressed, it was frustrating , as with Android , but that is me, I love the HUB I love getting things done fast and not searching around, but it's nice to see Blackberry slowly getting back,
@mathew way too wide? Remember when apple said the samsung note was way too big? Innovation is the word. You can't think wide when you think too narrow
The keyboard is actually one of the strengths with this phone, It's amazing. I have seen plenty reviews and this one was a bit off in that regard. Swipe gestures, predictive text. Quick scrolling of webpages when pressing space bar, or pressing letters T and B to get to top and bottom of page instantly. Are you sure "veteran users of BlackBerry" are having problems with it?
Why is he complaining about the keyboard so much? I moved from an HTC One to a Q10 to the Passport now, and I'm loving the keyboard. Not sure whether I can type faster on the Q10 or the Passport, but the Passport keyboard certainly feels better because the keys are much bigger. Going back to the Q10, I often press more than one key at once now.
***** The reviewer is full of it! There are two things wrong with this review: (1) there is no need for the shift key to capitalize letters because all you have to do is hold the key down and it will automatically capitalize (2) to delete a word all you have to do is swipe to the left to delete the whole word.
Yeah, this john v is making a big deal out of the keyboard when it is in fact the widest and most spacious physical keyboard of any smartphone and even any Blackberry at the moment. I can understand he is a touchscreen guy, but so he should not be trying to sound like he is a PKB expert. And he is relishing the "affirmation" he is getting from all these Blackberry haters. So much for this "review". He actually reviewed it so that it will be hated. Whats the point then? Might as well, just dont make such a review. Glorify all those androids and iphones all you want then. And leave Blackberry to languish in obscurity, since that is what you and your cheerleaders seem to want. You are just wasting OUR time.
I have to comment on his review of the keyboard. I've been using my passport now for about three weeks and as I've gotten more used to it I really love it! It's a joy to use and the interactive features like scrolling and swiping are awesome. I came from an iphone and I honestly love this BlackBerry passport. It's incredibly fast and responsive and I have google apps working on it as well as all the native BlackBerry apps. I would recommend this phone to anyone for work or play. Especially if you're tired of all the slab phones out there and want sometime new different and exciting. It's an awesome device.!!
people are just afraid to try different things if they use this phone they will love the thing is people see it and touch it for 5 minutes and make up their mind if they give it a week or 2 they'll fall in love with it
Absolutely. Give it a chance. I know it's different but I've been waiting for a device like this from BlackBerry. I went in to att&t with every intention on buying the classic. Then I checked out the paaport and am so glad I did. Still learning some features of the phone. It's really an amazing device. I look for reasons to use this keyboard. Really the best phone I've had and I've had them all.
Mike Abrames people believe anything they hear, no apps ? really how about snap, amazon app store install any apk file you can think of from the net, the keyboard is one of its strong point and this guy completely misses it
When you start typing on the keyboard symbols will appear above the keyboard, coma sign, semicolon etc...just touch the numbers symbol @123 and all the numbers come up over the keyboard as well as other characters.
I disagree, used the passport today, just a different learning curve from the basis tactile keyboard of the past the new design packs to much innovative improvements not to be recommended, nothing in the market from android or apple will come close to this as a serious business tool, tech companion....the market is flooded with the same generic design patterns, hats off to blackberry for thinking outside the box @king2ththrone
With many features that no other smartphone has. The screen is perfect for reading due to its width, the speakers are (hands down) the best on any phone, the OS is the best out there, touch sensitive keyboard, etc. Sure it's square, but so what? It's still mad innovative.
yup. All the smartphones look the same nowdays. I love to see someone trying a new design, because we really need that. This phone is far from perfect, but I trully hope that Blackberry comes up with something awesome in the future.
***** Just out of curiosity...what do you mean it's "far from perfect"? It has everything every other smart phone has PLUS more like an awesome touch sensitive keyboard, awesome screen, dual speakers (which are the best on any smart phone), the best OS, etc. Just asking is all...I'm assuming you think every smart phone is far from perfect if that's the case? Also...what do you mean by "I trully hope that Blackberry comes up with something awesome in the future"? Is the Passport not an awesome device? Well I guess not considering the previous sentence. I know this comes off wrong but I am just asking for curiosities sake.
Logical Reason Bold 9000 was perfect. They should make something awesome in the future that's gonna give people some reasons to use Blackberries over traditional touchscreen smartphones. Most people aren't impressed by this at all...obv they did something wrong.
2:48 he complains about the backspace and having to hold the backspace button. The keyboard is touch enabled so you can swipe back and it will backspace faster.
Sahil B K For that blackberry had a caps lock feature (alt+right shitft) which is exactly for such things.. typing long words with all capital latters.
Intellectually this is a really poor review, missing out so much stuff might as well be a book with all the pages missing. The build quality alone outshines all the others and it feels not only solid but makes your feel proud when you use the phone. Having had the passport from the first day it came out, I find I can't keep my hands off it. It is a real pleasure to use, and the size is not an issue at, and fits in a pocket as easily as a large 5-6" rectangle device, so the point here is...moving on eh... The keyboard is amazing, I am trying to understand why he says the keyboard is too wide. Ergonomically it really works, because you hold the device securely and then it allows your really type fast and accurately. Granted if you want to be one handed then buy a smaller phone with on screen touch typing and don't forget to keep finding the back button when you over type all the time :) I can appreciate a physical keyboard does not appeal to everyone and that is fine, but you can't diss this fantastic keyboard. It is the best keyboard and most intuitive I have ever used. As for the spacebar, errm I am at a lost what he means by that, its located in the middle between V and B and is perfectly centred in the middle of the width of the screen so you know where it is at all time. Technical specs, well...they are fine, high end, fast phone, doesn't fail like certain other OS's do. As for the camera, personally it takes a decent picture, people forget these are phones not professional SLR's. People who want to own this are not actually Die Hard Fans, they are people who want quality, excellent OS, superb message management, superior reading and emailing experience whether for work or pleasure. This is a fast secure device that you can trust and most importantly all round versatile quality. So if your into Tonka Toys and all things that can't be shared unless your like to play games or app that sits there using up battery life because that is what it does, then you know what you need to do. Rant over :-) Here is my out of 10 verdict: Build quality: 10/10 OS 10: 10/10 Keyboard: 10/10 Camera 8/10 Video: 8/10 Call Quality: 10/10 No Bloatware: 10/10 Blackberry Blend: 10/10 Battery life: 10/10 4G: 10/10 Web browser: 10/10 Touch Screen: 10/10 Resolution: 10/10 External Storage (upto 128): 10/10 Selection of Apps: 6/10 Quality of Apps: 10/10
how much blackberry paid you for this comment? my friend had this phone with his another smartphone and sell it right after 3 weeks of use. camera sucks for video and camera (i didn't know how you rate it 10 out of 10), keyboard is 'maybe' amazing but learning curve is damn too painful. this phone is simply useless when you can get everything on another cheaper smartphone.
Thanks for your reply :) I appreciate as with all phones some are good experiences and some are bad and sounds like your friend had a bad experience. I have had the odd bad experience with a phone, but then had it replaced and was fine. You can get most functionality on all phones whatever OS they use, but some phones are more premium than others hence why you have a range of phones, so I agree with you. Just to clarify the rating on the camera is 8/10 not 10/10 however I really should of given this a 7/10 in all fairness. As for the learning curve it is like any OS you do get use to it, but there is no question that is superior to android and apple. I have an iphone and a note edge and in my opinion these phones do not come close to the passport or indeed the blackberry OS. I agree they have better cameras for sure but in my opinion that is where it ends unless your bothered about the silly amount of pointless apps then blackberry is not a phone for that. :)
guys, blackberry is like apple in 1997 right when steve jobs returned to the company. Apple was at that time battered to the ground by IBM and microsoft. But steve jobs helped apple remember their roots about beautiful intuitive products for regular consumers that work seamlessly. And also apple was minority "different" unique brand. Blackberry i feel is the same way, except blackberry's focus is the business and productivity customer. I feel like blackberry got distracted and lost, but I feel like the remembered that their roots were built in productivity, and they went straight back to that. Blackberry blend proves it. I hope blackberry comes back like apple. I have a iPhone 5s now, but I am no fanboy and will consider blackberry if they make it a little smaller. Anyone else see the parallels in 1997 apple and the 2014 blackberry? its quite interesting.
I don't like the look of it but other than that this is an excellent smartphone. The keyboard might take a while to get used to but I think with a little bit more practice it might actually become the best feature of this phone. After owning a few smartphones I found that I prefer blackberry os the best and now specially with 10.3 which was not even mentioned in the video is even better. And blackberry blend, nobody's talking about it and it's something I am interested in.
This is a common trend with BlackBerry. No one ever talks about the OS and how good it really is. I have a Q10 and LOVE BlackBerry 10. Hands down the best mobile OS out right now.
I currently have an iPhone 5 and I am considering the Passport. My dad got it and absolutely loves how it runs and the OS. He is a lawyer and is getting and sending emails constantly and he really loves that the wide square screen allows him to view messages so effortlessly. Blackberry is not for everyone and they know that. I really appreciate that they are making a product to best suit their consumers instead of trying to draw more to them by becoming more like Apple or Android. Most of the people here that are complaining about it are never going to understand the draw and usefulness of this smartphone.
Nathan M Screnock Agree! I use a Q5 right now for both personal and work, and BB has the best email software out there. Sorting through emails on an iPhone is not the best experience!
I've used Blackberry 10, it is a solid operating system and very useful for productivity. If you could download a hub feature on Android that would be perfect, it could replace my magazine, blink feed etc. On the other hand I moved to Sony and I don't think I would move back and that's not because Blackberry is lacking major apps but it is the camera and design, this square phone looks like a retro PDA.
This is the most innovative and unique Blackberry device to date. Everything internal is top notch hardware. Definite flagship device for Blackberry. Blackberry now needs to put these hardware specs on a 5.5" phone with 3,500mAh battery. Attach the business market and consumer market. The passport can compete with the Note 4 and other 2K phones as far as display and resolution.
Reviewer doesn't seem familiar with the OS. A long press capitalizes a letter; no need for the shift key. A swwibe back deletes the last word, no neeed for "Del" key (that key deletes the last letter typed). A right swipe inserts a space, no need for space key.
Some things not mentioned in the video: Sound quality is better than my SGN4 for music/media/talk! Websites always render the way they are supposed to and documents are a breeze to read especially with the Work Wide app. If you want to back space several characters, you slide your finger backwards across the whole keyboard. I have this phone and love it! The keyboard has flick technology and predicts your words in three sections on screen above the keyboard for faster typing. I don't mind the boxy lines while watching videos. The videos are crisp and clear. Plus BlackBerry is known for privacy so this fits the mantra. BB Hub is awesome! I love BB Blend on my computer as I can respond to texts, emails and BBMs as well as read my BBM channels without picking up my phone! I just switched from the SGN4 too. You have the Amazon app store, Snap, and you can install the Google app store if there are apps you can't do without. Another positive about the physical keyboard is it will stop most people from texting and driving! It takes two hands to use. Quite practical...
that is a very awesome looking BlackBerry, and I am a huge fan of BlackBerrys, I absolutely love them, I have had 5 BlackBerrys in my time and only loved 4 of them, even though two of them were the same model, this won't be my favourite BlackBerry as the Bold 9900 is my fave, but it still looks quite awesome, it looks unusual, which makes it look awesome, I love unusual looking phones
If you're going from a touch screen to this, typing might take a couple weeks to get used to. If you've been using a BlackBerry physical keyboard, then this shouldn't be a problem. As to why people say the keyboard is problem is ridiculous. When I used my work phone, a touchscreen, it took me a week to get used to typing on that thing and then I was fine with it. It's the same thing with this phone.
Like the idea but a little to square or boxy for me loved my blackberry back in the day but hate the designs their coming out with if I pay alot of money for something I want it to look good too
5:30 he complains the pics are blurry. It's because you have to tap the touchscreen everytime before you take a pic to autofocus. Yes its annoying but the pics come out gorgeous! He took really bad pics bc he doesn't know how
There is obviously an interesting divide in what people consider a good looking phone. For instance, I honestly think all the iPhones to date have looked truly shit. Whereas phones like the HTC One always look amazing. Blackberries - like the 9900 and now this have a beautiful smartness about them that some people fail to see.
played with this phone ,i love it its smooth fast and the display is the best i have seen ,crisp clean build and the display is perfect for reading web and work , the thing that killed the deal was the keypad in the dark it does not have back lighting and i tried to type in the dark and it was a mess lol and being drunk in the dark would be a nightmare text sesh
The design really caught my attention. I actually love it. I wish I owned one honestly. But let's talk about the real star of the show... The cat! So cute! ☺
I don't know why he said the space key is in a wierd place. I always see them in most BlackBerry devices. The things I don't like about the keyboard is the lack of numkeys on it as well as the boring design of it.
I have been using android for two years, I got this as gift from my partner and same day I got iPhone as gift from my bro, also got samsung galaxy as gift. I decided to use this one.
I thumbed down this video because it felt like he wasn't even giving the phone a chance. That's the point of being a phone reviewer. He's totally caving in on what society thinks of blackberry. I doubt you went in with an open mind. Other reviewers who aren't biased loved the keyboard by the end of their review period. Very disappointed.
You don't have to press the "shift" key to capitalise on a BB. All you need to do is to press down on the key you want to capitalise for a second longer and it will do just that. Obviously this guy doesn't use a BB. This phone is not meant for multimedia as well, obviously not targeting multi-media heavy users - you have iPhones and Android phones for that.
Why does every review talk about how "distracting" the letterboxing lines are when viewing video. It is a SQUARE screen - what do you expect???? The viewable size of a 16:9 aspect video file is exactly the same as when viewing that same file on an iPhone 5s (or similarly sized screen) in landscape orientation. Distracting? It. Is. A. Square.
I really enjoyed my blackberry curve when I had that device but I'm not so sure about this passport. I may of considered going back to a blackberry but this device doesn't have me sold. The design of the phone just looks like a brick to me and doesn't satisfy. The user interface does look pretty decent and I do miss using my blackberry because I did get used to the cramped keyboard and it all worked out. It is going to be interesting to see how many of these passports are going to sell. I'll be on the lookout to see how many people will have these devices in their hands
You can always get BB classic. The new OS is way better than most OS out there. I came from iPhone to BB Q10 this April and the OS actually astounded me
Best device I've used. Good battery life I have all the apps through snap... its true the camera can be slow to focus but it's a minor flaw. Otherwise this is an excellent device
Seriously stop noting third party apps as a con. This was the case with earlier blackberry. The Passport comes with the amazon app-store installed and if the app you want isn't on that you can sideload almost any app you want from the Google Playstore via Snap. You didn't even pay attention to this in the video?
He says that the keyboard is the biggest disappointment on this phone. I respectively disagree. Granted that this keyboard does have a bit of a learning curve, once you get used to it it's a pleasure to type on. I have owned a BB 9900 which is the best keyboard that they have made in my opinion. But I have to say that this Passport keyboard has grown on me each time I have used it.
clearly the reviewer didnt take the time to review the phone before reviewing it himself the swipe to delete is pretty easy to use to delete words no buttons to press clearly someone didnt study
"Square-ish looking display"?? Actually, it's exactly 1440x1440 as you said. That doesn't make it a "square-ish" display, that makes it a "pixel perfect square" display.
This reviewer is a huge apple fanboy who is very bias towards BlackBerry. Every review that he does for BlackBerry are always the same. Steve Jobs was gay, the apple ceo came out as being gay and 93% of the reviewers are also gay. Steve Jobs are their favorite tech hero of all time, aside from them having investments in apples stock they will always choose apple over BlackBerry. That's why he failed to talk about BlackBerry blend, or the amazon app store, or snap for that matter. and that's why he promotes all other phone manufacturers at the end. He hates the keyboard, the square screen for watching media. He hates the 13mp camera, he doesn't like the sound quality, he had an agenda, the same one he had when he reviewed! The Z10. Terrible review!
It was a shame that this phone came out with an OS that was doomed. Loved the hardware though. I actually liked the pkb. The touch sensitive functions were awesome.
I like the phone so much but i don't know how it stands with apps? Are there enough? I mean I'm not using some crazy stuff, rather basic apps like one Microsoft's onedrive, onenote, outlook. Of course, some other popular apps wouldn't mind.
Doesn't look like you spent much time using the Passport for two weeks, which is the length of time required to become proficient. Also, you put a negative as learning to navigate the OS. Have you compared it to the confusing, frustrating Android experience?
Kudos for trying. I left Blackberry for iPhone. I had a good run with my Black Berry Bold (9000), but its going to be the same issues just like before. NO developer support and the apps were never updated nor functioned properly. This is a phone for a email/phone call only users....
I purchased to Blackberry passport 5 days ago and sold it today! The device keyboard was just impossible to use as its location is way to low! the performance was great but I need to type. This failed attempt by Blackberry I am afraid will kill the company.......
Steve Freiburger Do games like clash of clans run on it??
hi hope you doing well steve ... just want to check with you can we use whatz app & viber on this phone
tharindu balasooriya ofcourse it does..

The one person who complained about the keyboard. Everyone else loves it
I enjoyed your presentation. But I def love this device and am going to enjoy the next 11 months riding out bb10's life support with my passport!
I'm a veteran user and the BB keybaord is amazing to use. How can you make such a comment when you're clearly not a veteran BB user? Crazy review.
I have to disagree with you about the keyboard. I've been using the samsung s3 for about 2 years now and still managed to easily getting used to the passport keyboard, infact I think its even better than the bb cures one I've been using back these days.
this is not a phone to watch videos or play games... it's amazing phone for people who want to be productive
1:it's not, you can watch videos and run Google apps
2:there is a way that you can download the play store and install Android games
3:you can download music, videos, apps, pictures and much much more
the point is, this smartphone is for anyone
+Robo Star
it support all antroid software ??
13shivan
how does it help me being more productive
what does it feature differently than any other phone ?!
it looks nice but other than that it has nothing to offer
it is not the fastest phone and it doesn't have the best camera and it offers no extra features to help me be " more productive "
+Thermoman69691 whats the app store like? can you get spotify etc?
To communicate probably... this is what the Blackberry does the best... the iPhone is just a toy really... know what you mean about Windows Whahahabhua
right
Keyboard is awesome, so it should be "i dont know how to use it ;)"
Mine arrives tomorrow.
Do you have any idea what your talking about I own this phone keyboard is awesome goof review
+Johnny Boydianno Can you get spotify on it? is the app selection any good?
+Jack Bailhache no
Shane Horne I have spotify on it just to say
+Jack Bailhache yes, Spotify is available. Did you end up getting the phone?
Liza L. yes got the phone, and happy with it, getting the new DTEC 50 as i always like to have 2 phones, to switch from one to the other every month or so
I like that the backspace becomes a deleting function if you hold it.... I hope that blackberry fixes the camera soon!
this is a phone for specific user's I own a Blackberry z10 for me this phone does it all, it has been a very solid piece of kit for over the past year, I cannot see myself wanting a passport, but I would be interested to see if they bring up another touch screen phone, OS 10.3 is an amazing system and the one thing that I love about Blackberry OS is it's very functional and it'smeant for productivity, I have tested and reviewd Apple new phone and system, not impressed, it was frustrating , as with Android , but that is me, I love the HUB I love getting things done fast and not searching around, but it's nice to see Blackberry slowly getting back,
@mathew way too wide?
*****
The reviewer is full of it!
Mike Abrames people believe anything they hear, no apps ? really how about snap, amazon app store install any apk file you can think of from the net, the keyboard is one of its strong point and this guy completely misses it
When you start typing on the keyboard symbols will appear above the keyboard, coma sign, semicolon etc...just touch the numbers symbol @123 and all the numbers come up over the keyboard as well as other characters.
you don't have to use back space button for erasing it you just swipe left and it all there
A backspace is a delete button, so I don't get what he meant. Keyboard is great once use to
I disagree, used the passport today, just a different learning curve from the basis tactile keyboard of the past the new design packs to much innovative improvements not to be recommended, nothing in the market from android or apple will come close to this as a serious business tool, tech companion....the market is flooded with the same generic design patterns, hats off to blackberry for thinking outside the box @king2ththrone
With many features that no other smartphone has. The screen is perfect for reading due to its width, the speakers are (hands down) the best on any phone, the OS is the best out there, touch sensitive keyboard, etc.
Sure it's square, but so what? It's still mad innovative.
Rajiv Ravishankar It's a rectangle...
I am ready to trade off typing speed for accuracy, simply because it takes me much more time to correct my texts.
The best phone design I have ever seen. The quality is similar to other flagship models. Simply awesome phone.
Dude... you never needed shift key for capitalizing letters on a BB.. same goes for passport..you just press and hold to capitalize a letter.
Yeah, try typing a five letter word that way. You may even learn the meaning of patience
Sahil B K For that blackberry had a caps lock feature (alt+right shitft) which is exactly for such things.. typing long words with all capital latters.
Honestly the keyboard is AMAZING it took me 2 days to get used to it. But this is the BEST phone I've ever had.. love my passport
i have it and i was using a touch phone before and the keyboard is amazing when you get used to it
"Long long time before we saw a Blackberry Smartphone" TF! Blackberry never stopped making them.
It's a great comeback for blackberry imo. If I had money to throw around on expensive things I might give it a shot.
Rant over :-)
Here is my out of 10 verdict:
Build quality: 10/10
OS 10: 10/10
Keyboard: 10/10
Camera 8/10
Video: 8/10
Call Quality: 10/10

***** go to bed kid
how much blackberry paid you for this comment? my friend had this phone with his another smartphone and sell it right after 3 weeks of use. camera sucks for video and camera (i didn't know how you rate it 10 out of 10), keyboard is 'maybe' amazing but learning curve is damn too painful. this phone is simply useless when you can get everything on another cheaper smartphone.
Thanks for your reply :)
I appreciate as with all phones some are good experiences and some are bad and sounds like your friend had a bad experience.
:)
Whats with showing your benching it in Geekbench, but show no results?
guys, blackberry is like apple in 1997 right when steve jobs returned to the company.
Well, the BlackBerry Classic comes out in 10 days, and that might be the phone for you
I don't like the look of it but other than that this is an excellent smartphone.
Its matter of choice, just say confidently. Buy if you like, everything is different and unique with own features.
One word for this phone, BOSS. Not for kids.
The strain on your thumbs to use that tiny keyboard on such a top-heavy device will no doubt cause some serious hand and thumb injuries.
A right swipe inserts a space, no need for space key.
i want one so bad. :(
Why would you use the delete button to delete a word, or more, and not use the swipe left function that deletes an entire word? C'mon man!
Like the idea but a little to square or boxy for me loved my blackberry back in the day but hate the designs their coming out with if I pay alot of money for something I want it to look good too
The Bold 9000 was the sweetest phone ever.
This is beautiful. And Unique. Wont ever buy it but love it.
other than the space, the layout of the keyboard seems just fine. its classic qwerty
i'm not sure about whether Spotify works on this phone...
BLACKBERRY Z30 and Blackberry Passeport are the best smartphones on the planet for productivity , for professionnel people!
I like it. Which is weird, I didn't expect to. I would still rather get an iPhone 6 or LG G3.
I decided to use this one.
you got three phones at once
what a luck
You are so lucky. Everyone around you is so generous.
To think that BB were once a big time player in the smartphone market...
You don't have to press the "shift" key to capitalise on a BB. All you need to do is to press down on the key you want to capitalise for a second longer and it will do just that. Obviously this guy doesn't use a BB. This phone is not meant for multimedia as well, obviously not targeting multi-media heavy users - you have iPhones and Android phones for that.
keypad is excellent
It should have multiwindow , I can imagine how ppl can watch TH-cam video while texting or browsing Twitter feeds at the same time !!!
I actually like this phone with the nice specs and the look is different something new
Why does every review talk about how "distracting" the letterboxing lines are when viewing video.
I came from iPhone to BB Q10 this April and the OS actually astounded me
if you do not get bored wearing android? Unlike Android Only Just In his feature, so all Just Different Features, Do you Agree?
that backspace button is a delete button, look at the icon.
this reviewer doesn't know what he's talking about he forgets to mention that you can easily delete by swiping back
Best device I've used. Good battery life I have all the apps through snap... its true the camera can be slow to focus but it's a minor flaw. Otherwise this is an excellent device
What is its operating system?
I'll wait for the blackberry passport porsche design
2020, is this still worth buying? I just want to view Netflix here.
who would show the browsing details?.. a complete review is mandatory
Phone arena, can you please list the reviewer in the titles for now on. Jon v is hella annoying...
Hey do you sell blackberry passport?
Will the passport and the classic work on Tmobile?
Yes I have a classic and I am on TMOBILE, it works great
Does it have LTE or HSPA+ on Tmobile? Thanks for replying.
Jimi Andra You have to ask for a BlackBerry 4G LTE SIM card from your carrier and then you'll get all of the BlackBerry features.
A blackberry 4G LTE SIM? I thought I could use my T-Mobile Sim card from my nexus 5. My apologies for my ignorance.
It will do full LTE with any standard T-Mobile sim
i just a headache from the blackberry camera
1440 x 1440 its in fact a square right?
The keyboard is the best thing about this phone lol. 'Crack is wack' Mr. Reviewer lol.
i want to buy this phone
there's no point for a smartphone with a touch screen to also have a physical keyboard in my opinion
Kudos for trying. I left Blackberry for iPhone. I had a good run with my Black Berry Bold (9000), but its going to be the same issues just like before. NO developer support and the apps were never updated nor functioned properly. This is a phone for a email/phone call only users....
Compare to those humbling follower of iPhone, this BB passport at least is totally unique.
I know blackberry wouldn't do this but if it were running android it would have been much more popular
I thumbs upped this video if only for the cat! Although, it kind of concerns me that John lets his cat climb on his counter, lol.
i think the camera quality is the most disappointing feature
i dont use blackberry but come to think of it do people still buy blackberry? no offense
blackberry is like a secret escort service with the best sluts in town they just dont let anybody in
Does what's app work?
I purchased to Blackberry passport 5 days ago and sold it today! The device keyboard was just impossible to use as its location is way to low! the performance was great but I need to type. This failed attempt by Blackberry I am afraid will kill the company.......
I am able to use this device with 1 hand and type
You fail to mention that it can install almost all android applications. And the hub... THE HUB!
I don't know, I like it and I haven't found it in my country, they're all sold. 0_0
