Definitely my fave BB of the last 20 years. I had to move to Key2 LE (worst phone ever) after 4 models that had battery/camera fails and the inability to use android apps properly. Key2 just broke and I have to wait for new model. WHERE IS IT??? I can't live without my BBs.
@@aksingh3167 How many apps do you need? Like I said, for me only real downside was browser support. Email was top notch. Sailfish email what I am using now is real pain in the ass, but Sailfish have Alien Dalvik support to some extend. BB10 Alien Dalvik got outdated.
I love my Passport silver edition. It also has the best call quality and audio playback of any phone including today's newest models. I hope the new phone from Onward Mobility has the same type of quality engineering as the Passport.
Agree, It's the best phone I ever had. Is there a way to resurrect it in 2023? I tried to download the Google Play Store, but I needed to download a newer browser to do that, and I needed the Google Play store to download a new browser. Is there a way round this?

I discover the Passport last year in the summer. I am an enthusiast and loyal fan on keyboard devices, when I saw the passport the screen sizes the keyboard the style and gesture I felt in love whit it immediately so I got one my self the day after! It is since then my main phone and I cannot get enough of it! I love it so much, only holding it give me the feeling to use it and type all time, I truly hope that we can come over some serious difficulties after the shut down of the BB10 because this device cannot die like this, even if they make a new passport with Android the passport is a BB10 period! I never got the opportunity to switch to the BB Passport. I had the Leap, and I loved it so much. I miss the Hub every single day. I have an iPhone now, but I loved the BB10 OS. I also will not switch over to Android after my last experience. So, it's iPhone for now.

@@StevealiciousTech I had the Motorola Droid Turbo. It was great in the looks and specs department, but the point A to B was a nightmare for me. Settings were also a little too complicated for me, not that it was difficult, but that that it just was not organized. Sort of all over the place. After a few months it also became glitchy, and even would warm up a lot and drain the battery. Coming from Windows Phone 8 at the time, it just was not what I was hoping for. So I switched to BB Leap after the Droid Turbo, and I loved it.
For OnwardMobility in 2021... a Passport is a home run. A classic or bold-like phone is triple. On the other hand, a Priv/KeyOne is pop fly... good swing and good launch angle, but not enough.
We can hope for it! Would be awesome to see...the Titan Pocket will be an interesting experiment for the smaller form factors and if it's not enough...I think the Passport screen would do it.
one thing i want to point out all who will use this possibly as a secondary device. use you primary Android or IOS phone then move your sim to passport and make that first call you will hear the difference!!! call quality is incredible and the antennae is special as well- phone almost never drops call driving through dead zones
11:05 I reject the one-handed typing excuse. I've been one-handed typing on my Passport since 2014 and still going today. I can easily text while driving one-handed with this thing since the individual keys are much bigger and I can even do it without looking since I can feel for the placement of the keys. Doing the same on my company iPhone 6S is much, much more difficult and far less safe.
Passport SE still my daily driver. I use so many features on it still. Assistant, Calculator, Clock, Videos, Music, Pictures, Maps, Docs to Go, Browser, Calendar, Contacts, Text Message, E mail and the Phone. Wish BB had keep building it and upgrading it with BB10 and treated it as a strictly business phone and didn't try for the consumer side which they could not win in the short run anyways. By doing that they would have ended up with a very low engineering and retooling cost. Making it possible to make a profit on very few units. When you keep doing the fashionista thing you spend bucket loads. Still love my Playbook too. Just replaced the battery but I think it needs a software reboot as it won't take a charge. Sad as the my account must have been scrubbed of Blackberry website so I have to reset it up to get the downloads. Probably didn't need the battery as I had replaced the original 1 1/2 years ago just a reboot. Ohh well will be loading all the os's Playbook Z10 Z30 and Passport into my computer just to keep them around since they will be gone next January.
My passport has crack on the corner and the back light lower left side has become dim. When some calling, the signal disappears. The power button and volume stuck up, just the power button cannot use
Multitasking is more because you can not because it's better, and it was never for your productivity it's for you. The only uses I found for it was a game and a video, and swapping between two apps with a slide instead of the normal way.

I opened up the drawer only to find my Bold, first gen last week. I will tell you after charging it up, I MISS THE PHONE! Typing on those keys was just KING! No mis types. I cant find my Passport though.
They aren't down just yet...so one Passport I had is having issues outside of wifi...the other is just fine for now. But I think after today things start to shut down...but as of right now the servers seem still up or at least mostly up.

I used one for almost a year in 2018, then accidentally scuttled the poor thing by installing a developer ROM on it, which stripped out a lot of functionality. #sadface...luckily found a newer version official ROM and now it is ready to go once again!
I sold my beloved Passport when BB stopped supporting the OS, it was a joy to use and very easy to code apps for. Too bad it didn't get the market share it deserved
Yes! Rock my Passport SE daily for emails as you and it's such an awesome experience! So advanced for its time and still today in 2021 looks way ahead of its time! Have also installed Google Playstore and lots still work. Did you around to installing PlayStore? Great video.

No, I don't believe so. There won't be any updates pushed from BB anymore...there haven't been in a while but while the servers are still up for this year you should still be able to get over the air updates for any BB you still have that you reset or maybe purchase or for whatever reason never updated. Same goes for any that you wipe completely...the servers will still have the software this year. Thanks!

Hi StevealiciousTech - Great video as always. You may wish to do a video on the Blackberry Passport camera. I use this as a camera (for taking a number of shots) yes, it’s a lowly 13mp, but the results do come out rather impressive for a six year old device! It may take getting used to the settings in the device, but once this is mastered, the images can come awesome.

I miss my bb10 devices! Loved my passport but couldn’t use it long because I had to move to straight talk and they wouldn’t allow it and at&t is very week in my area. I wasn’t able to use anymore bb10 phones after moving to straight talk. :(

Love this passport. Unfortunately only Gmail, text message and phone work. Twitter doesn't load well in built in browser. Coating of back part of two upper corners are easily worn after being inserted into back pockets of jeans a few times.
Reddit and Spotify should be ok. Banking I don’t know if I’d use unless through the browser. Perhaps older watches with apps for BB but not a lot. Thanks!
That's a good idea. I keep holding out hope they would unlock it in some way or repurpose it. I think the reason they are hesitant to do anything with QNX is because they still use it for their software business...but, like you said, maybe not unlock it or make it open source but make it do something else...that would at least be nice. The Passport was one of my best phone ever! But with Android 11 now, I begin to forget the beauty of bb10! The lack of app on bb10 was the problem, and no dark mode into the Hub. Android 11 is amazing, and it should be great to see a BlackBerry Passport on Android or a Classic! Thanks for your video!
Apps from third party can compomise security. The Passport was designed for employees of government agencies and business users in general who had little use for many non essential apps.
Waze I've gotten to work just very slow. Instagram will work on the web as will the others but all very slow at this point unless you are just using the native BB stuff or email and phone. Thanks!

I only just got my BB Passport out, purchased a SIM and was already to go... And.... You have a year, max until its a cool looking coffee table WiFi enabled brick. So gutted. Its an amazing phone. I do hope there will be a workaround, but once 3G is dropped, then... 😏😔

The BlackBerry servers will shut down. You won't be able to download software or restore devices...activate a device if something happens...some push notifications and features will fall away as well. It will become a lot tougher to use reliably. Thanks!
SE had a design more like the Key2 with the aluminum frame and look. Also wireless charging which the ATT refresh had anyway, I believe. But just a cool looking device. Thanks!
Blackberry just keep that design and replace some 2021 features such as: Android, mid chipset, good camera with price under 600$, i believe bb fan are willing to buy it without considering. In Vietnam right now, the key2 le is clearing stock with under 200usd and sold out stock within 3 days.

Thanks! I've gotten telegram to work recently. It keeps bugging you that it needs a newer version though but I think it will still work ok for a while if you ignore that. Facebook I haven't gotten to work. Android apps I've find run quite slowly on mine, unfortunately. Anything you can do web based is a plus.

Passport was cool and unique, but definitely NOT the best. I was ok with the square screen but it just isn't optimal in today's world. Even computers aren't square. The 3 row keyboard was ok at the time, but looking back on it it's just awkward to keep going back and forth between pkb and screen to type. Now the square screen, long battery life, loud stereo speakers, and lots of storage.....it makes the passport the best stand alone mp3 player of all time.
I don't think they'd do a 1:1 aspect ratio...but I don't think 4:3 is out of the question for a device that you want a decent sized keyboard on. I don't think so either but you look at the Key devices and wonder if that's the road they would really go down...I still think the Key devices don't handle things well. Perhaps more like a Priv? Either way, I just hope it's different from the Key in material ways. Thanks!
I can't speak for Signal but telegram, yes. I was able to run telegram...I kept getting the notification that I needed to upgrade to a newer version but others have said they don't get that. Either way, it does function! Thanks!
I absolutely love passport but let's be real here. This is not a form factor of a device to use for everything you want, at least not in 2021. OnwardMobility CEO himself said that they want to provide us a device that is capable of doing everything we love about a BlackBerry while still being a modern device that will be a GLOBAL FLAGSHIP for everyone, not jusy crackberry fans. Some things in life shouldn't be repeated. They only feel good at the time you experience it. I know it's tempting but blackberry has to make smart decisions. OnwardMobility has a one shot chance on the matter and I doubt they would waste (there I said it) it on rebooting Passport. BlackBerry Torch sort of devices are the only logical conclusion to make when you want the best for the brand, and for yourself. KEYS ARE GETTING IN THE WAY. Let's just accept that, shall we? Sometimes you just want to watch a nice youtube video. Why shouldn't you be able to watch it on your favourite blackberry? You can still have keyboard? a little slide or a similar mechanism won't hurt nobody. It's not like BlackBerry phones ever had IP rating.
app support?? with more and more folks working on their desktops/laptops the need for app support is MUCH LESS!! also- i dont' want any google play or anything google on my passport. The BB world still has apps as does the Appstore with amazon thats all we need!!! blackberry for life!!

Sorry for the late reply... While Unihertz hasn't always done so in a timely fashion, they continue to provide updates for the Titan and that includes security updates plus a system update to Android 10. Don't know about Android 11 though.
By 'clunky' I presume that you mean that the Titan isn't as refined as the Passport,, which it certainly isn't.. Then again as the commercial put it, the Titan is designed for people who get "stuff" done., who value productivity like me. The Titan is a armoured and waterproof Passport with beefed up internals and a tool belt.. If you're willing to put in the time to get used to it, the Titan is a great device. IMHO..
Great device, for sure. A class of its own. If only it could run the Covid app (Android 6+, i believe) in Canada, I'd fire one up again! Great love note to BB10!

My Passport and Bold are still working without any issues, despite the servers being decommissioned.

Yes! Rock my Passport SE daily for emails as you and it's such an awesome experience! So advanced for its time and still today in 2021 looks way ahead of its time! Have also installed Google Playstore and lots still work. Did you around to installing PlayStore? Great video.
I keep forgetting you have an SE! Jealous. I did on one of the other ones. I used some apps but they seemed to slow it down a bit so I just stuck with the few I wanted on there. Thanks again!

No, I don't believe so. There won't be any updates pushed from BB anymore...there haven't been in a while but while the servers are still up for this year you should still be able to get over the air updates for any BB you still have that you reset or maybe purchase or for whatever reason never updated. Same goes for any that you wipe completely...the servers will still have the software this year. Thanks!

StevealiciousTech - Great video as always. You may wish to do a video on the Blackberry Passport camera. I use this as a camera (for taking a number of shots) yes, it’s a lowly 13mp, but the results do come out rather impressive for a six year old device! It may take getting used to the settings in the device, but once this is mastered, the images can come awesome.

I miss my bb10 devices! Loved my passport but couldn’t use it long because I had to move to straight talk and they wouldn’t allow it and at&t is very week in my area. I wasn’t able to use anymore bb10 phones after moving to straight talk. :(

Love this passport. Unfortunately only Gmail, text message and phone work. Twitter doesn't load well in built in browser. Coating of back part of two upper corners are easily worn after being inserted into back pockets of jeans a few times.
My coating hasn't come off at all but yes only really email at this point but still great to carry around for that!

Reddit and Spotify should be ok. Banking I don’t know if I’d use unless through the browser. Perhaps older watches with apps for BB but not a lot. Thanks!

blackberry should load the passport with QNX and let you use it with your car electronics. It would make an amazing remote for that.
That's a good idea. I keep holding out hope they would unlock it in some way or repurpose it. I think the reason they are hesitant to do anything with QNX is because they still use it for their software business...but, like you said, maybe not unlock it or make it open source but make it do something else...that would at least be nice. I don't believe so. There is still BBM Enterprise for Android but the BBM servers were shut down.
The Passport was one of my best phone ever!
But with Android 11 now, I begin to forget the beauty of bb10!
The lack of app on bb10 was the problem, and no dark mode into the Hub.
Android 11 is amazing, and it should be great to see a BlackBerry Passport on Android or a Classic!

Apps from third party can compomise security. The Passport was designed for employees of government agencies and business users in general who had little use for many non essential apps.

Waze I've gotten to work just very slow. Instagram will work on the web as will the others but all very slow at this point unless you are just using the native BB stuff or email and phone. Thanks!

I only just got my BB Passport out, purchased a SIM and was already to go... And.... You have a year, max until its a cool looking coffee table WiFi enabled brick. So gutted. Its an amazing phone. I do hope there will be a workaround, but once 3G is dropped, then... 😏😔

What will happen after this year for BB10?
The BlackBerry servers will shut down. You won't be able to download software or restore devices...activate a device if something happens...some push notifications and features will fall away as well. It will become a lot tougher to use reliably. Thanks!

What is differense between first passport and SE ?
SE had a design more like the Key2 with the aluminum frame and look. Also wireless charging which the ATT refresh had anyway, I believe. But just a cool looking device. Thanks!

Blackberry just keep that design and replace some 2021 features such as: Android, mid chipset, good camera with price under 600$, i believe bb fan are willing to buy it without considering.

Thanks! I've gotten telegram to work recently. It keeps bugging you that it needs a newer version though but I think it will still work ok for a while if you ignore that. Facebook I haven't gotten to work. Android apps I've find run quite slowly on mine, unfortunately. Anything you can do web based is a plus.

Passport was cool and unique, but definitely NOT the best. I was ok with the square screen but it just isn't optimal in today's world. Even computers aren't square. The 3 row keyboard was ok at the time, but looking back on it it's just awkward to keep going back and forth between pkb and screen to type.
Now the square screen, long battery life, loud stereo speakers, and lots of storage.....it makes the passport the best stand alone mp3 player of all time.
There is no way Onward Mobility will make their 1st phone based on the passport.
I don't think they'd do a 1:1 aspect ratio...but I don't think 4:3 is out of the question for a device that you want a decent sized keyboard on. I don't think so either but you look at the Key devices and wonder if that's the road they would really go down...I still think the Key devices don't handle things well. Perhaps more like a Priv? Either way, I just hope it's different from the Key in material ways. Thanks!

I can't speak for Signal but telegram, yes. I was able to run telegram...I kept getting the notification that I needed to upgrade to a newer version but others have said they don't get that. Either way, it does function! Thanks!

I absolutely love passport but let's be real here. This is not a form factor of a device to use for everything you want, at least not in 2021. OnwardMobility CEO himself said that they want to provide us a device that is capable of doing everything we love about a BlackBerry while still being a modern device that will be a GLOBAL FLAGSHIP for everyone, not jusy crackberry fans. Some things in life shouldn't be repeated. They only feel good at the time you experience it. I know it's tempting but blackberry has to make smart decisions. OnwardMobility has a one shot chance on the matter and I doubt they would waste (there I said it) it on rebooting Passport. BlackBerry Torch sort of devices are the only logical conclusion to make when you want the best for the brand, and for yourself. KEYS ARE GETTING IN THE WAY. Let's just accept that, shall we? Sometimes you just want to watch a nice youtube video. Why shouldn't you be able to watch it on your favourite blackberry? You can still have keyboard? a little slide or a similar mechanism won't hurt nobody. It's not like BlackBerry phones ever had IP rating.

Sorry for the late reply... While Unihertz hasn't always done so in a timely fashion, they continue to provide updates for the Titan and that includes security updates plus a system update to Android 10. Don't know about Android 11 though.
By 'clunky' I presume that you mean that the Titan isn't as refined as the Passport,, which it certainly isn't.. Then again as the commercial put it, the Titan is designed for people who get "stuff" done., who value productivity like me. The Titan is a armoured and waterproof Passport with beefed up internals and a tool belt.. If you're willing to put in the time to get used to it, the Titan is a great device. IMHO..
