He's just like me fr fr

Literally you. No judgment though bb. You get your pretty butt clean okay?
indeed lol i recognized myself so much in him, since first meeting with thiollier i thought hes totally a junkie
Babe wake up, new STG… babe? Babe!?
Okay this one made me laugh
*Metal Gear Solid game over music* "BAAAAAAAABE!!!"

Snake?! Snaaaaaaaake!

If you find the cross in the Stone Coffin area before the rune breaks, and come back to Ansbach to tell him about it, he says this:
"To think there was a cross left in such a faraway place and that deep-purple water lilies would be blooming there. This can only mean Kindly Miquella has divested himself even of that... His adoring other self, his blossom of slumber."
Which means that the "I abandon here my love" at that cross could have a double meaning. The first meaning is that It's assumed he divested himself of his capacity for love there, but with what Ansbach says, it becomes that he abandoned his actual love, St Trina, there. Grim.
(also I think that because the Lands Between is a world without true death, a side effect may be that there is no real sleep either, basically every npc is always available 24 hours a day, and the only talk of sleep within the game revolves around St Trina. Because of this lack of real sleep within the world, St Trina became such a beloved figure because she offered actual rest to people that otherwise was unavailable, and Thollier experienced that true rest once and chased it ever since)
Dayum.
That's an observation.
Dude had the slightest taste of the deepest sleep ever and now he wants to find it again? Sounds legit. If only we could follow Thollier's example. Maybe I wouldn't be so exhausted all the time.
Also, I've been saying this a lot recently, but the fact that Miquella gave up his love shows that his age of Compassion is a sham: how can you show compassion if you've abandoned your love? It's just a different type of control.
Age of Pacification is more accurate
My personal interpretation is that St. Trina was not only a love goddess, but also the one responsible for Miquella compelling others. So, I guess he did the right thing leaving her behind. But who knows, uh? 😅
@@rotinasemroteiro from the evidence given, it was his great rune that seemed to compel or charm others. when the rune breaks upon reaching a certain point in the DLC, the spell's effect over the NPC's is shattered. Some continue to follow him, while others realize they've been under a spell and how terrifying a power it is, so they move against him. Not trying to disprove your interpretation, just tossing the info out there. :P
@@SageTigerStar no problem at all! I'm playing it and haven't finished yet, but don't care about spoilers, so that's okay. My interpretation can also change drastically when I finish it and have more info and I'm aware of it. If it's his great rune, yeah, it makes sense. 😅
The phantom is correct in his assessment: Miquella's quest became hopeless when he decided to abandon the reason he was doing it in the first place.
He couldn't save everyone if he couldn't even save himself.
This guy just like me. Adore sleep, make concontion for sleeping, and fell in love with his bed.
Dead? Or has he reached his eternal sleep. One can dream
Thiollier like, VERY quickly went from being one of my least favorite characters to one of my favorites. He's such a good dude worthy of protection.
Dude earned sir ansbach respect you have to be pretty awesome got get noticed by that gigachad
If only it wasn't a fromsoft game. He might've had a chance then...
Didn't expect friend when needed friends most. (Avoiding spoilers). And man put in the work.
Nah the dude was a crazy jealous dude who did everything to please his target of obsession. Defo not a good guy
And he's bad ass enough to know poison and perfume bottles aren't strong but still rock them brilliantly anyway
I like to headcanon that before his death St. Trina speaks to him as he's dying, granting him what he always wanted to hear, her voice.
My theory on why Thiollier joined us despite doubting and attacking us is he finally heard St. Trina’s word and in the Leta boss fight he apologizes to us for not believing the tarnish when passing down her words.
Gotta be one of my favorite dlc characters. A true snoozer male
Someone you can truly look down and sneer on.
@@kayhaichtoxic
@@kayhaich No, you really don't. Not the sharpest blade, nor the mightiest armor, will spare you. From the poison of Thiollier.
Thiollier is my favorite of the new NPCs. Poor sad little man. No confidence, no self worth beyond the hope that St Trina will want him. But in the end is brave enough to take on 2 demigods and dies to accomplish his goal.
I honestly was hoping for a little bit more from the St Trina arc. It honestly seems a little rushed I'm not sure if this was the finale all along or if they made changes to kind of squeeze it in but I feel like it had potential to have such more depth and I don't know more to it
I felt the same way especially the large areas on the map that are inaccessible and empty plus the extremely large areas that have 2 items. But I mean at the same time this felt more like an entire game than a dlc, from my point of view at least
I totally get that feeling but luckily it didn’t feel rushed for me. I do wonder if ur feeling if it being rushed has anything to do with how they tell stories and what stories FromSoft tells. We always are there late, after many important events have transpired. While we can have some effect on the world, most of the impactful and life-changing events have already gone down.
Welp if you want a little bit more here's some 1.0 lore and the fact trina's cookbook gives you the bewitching branch recipe...
in the 1.0 release the sleep(sophoric) grease states "solidified grease using st trina's jealously guarded arts." "The saint of the cradlesong has become the very symbol of lost repose, and the feeble of heart were powerless to resist her kindness upon the battlefield."
Is thiollier genuine? this implies the charm ability was not exclusive to miquella but also on trina as well.
I like how when speaking to Leda about her comrades and bringing up Thiollier, she dismisses this idea saying he’s no threat. and then Thiollier is a summon against her and Miquella
I would like to hear the story of Redmane Freija and pureblood Knight Sir Ansbach. How the two started off as friends and how they became on opposite sides of the battlefield. Also I think maybe look at Thiolloer's voice lines in the final two battles as I believe that might explain how he came to the conclusion to help us.
Yup! He confirms my assumptions. He fights to serve St Trina
dryleaf dane does say "kindly miquella" before he dies.
he's simply a monk studying miquella. thas it i guess
He gave me my favorite weapon after an honorable duel, and for that alone I think he's a badass.
Absolutely my favorite NPC. Getting to the last location blew my mind
I feel like St. Trina's "velvety sleep", although obviously not the same thing, is a somewhat clear reference to opium. She shared the "compassion" and "kindness" of Miquella, but in contrast to his "abundance of life", her kindness was granted through sweet "poison", as Thiollier calls it. Relief through sleep, through numbing, through something that ultimately ends in obsession/addiction, and finally, death. That is to say, I feel like "imbibe nectar" could be perfectly replaced with "sip on that lean".
"I'm sorry. It's up to you now: grant Saint Trina's one wish..."
I felt like this was one of the best questlines in the game (aside from alexander) because there was an actual story to follow unlike other questlines that are either easy to misunderstand or get lost
So basically Thiollier was a Tier 3 sub who was simping hard for St. Trina and thought he was "that guy" but it turned out "that guy" was the Tarnished.
Thiollier is also tarnished.
“That guy” was you specifically, my G 😎
THIOLLIER THE LITERAL LOVE OF MY LIFE
Really loved the cast of NPCs we got with this DLC. I think The Old Hunters only had one that moved and a couple others with items but every NPC in SOTE felt really fleshed out and purposeful. It was both really fun and tragic to have them face off with you and one another right before the final boss.
“It must be me, only me”
Proceeds to follow by example
Would love a vid on Sir Ansbach or Igon they were some of my fav NPCs in the dlc
I love the way SOTE characters are written
All of them are searching for love, in their different manners
when Thiollier attacks us for getting the love he couldn't have
when Messmer attacks us and destroys whatever he has to in order to get the love his mother denied him
when Miquella steals the player's heart
miyazaki was so real for that
And Freja just wants to indulge that everlasting love for BATTLE.
trina can also charm people or is implied to be able to.. the bewitching brach cookbook is hers.
but also in the 1.0 release the sleep(sophoric) grease states "solidified grease using st trina's jealously guarded arts." "The saint of the cradlesong has become the very symbol of lost repose, and the feeble of heart were powerless to resist her kindness upon the battlefield."
because of this i cant say for certain whether thiollier is genuine..
i finally made it down there and she's just so eerie to look at, but I wish we could know more about her then through Thollier's creepyness lol Thank you for this video!
Isn’t this character the only one of Miquella’s initial chosen who says outright they are/were a Tarnished? In-game, St. Trina’s sleep can only manifest ‘half-way’ in The Lands Between, as Miquella’s influence on St. Trina’s lilies prevent them from being as potent as they should be. In the Land of Shadow, St. Trina’s lilies become concentrated and velvet- a sign that the flower is at its most potent. Deep sleep is probably the only way a Tarnished could experience what amounts to true rest, and analogous to wanting a true death in a way. Poison Boi was given grace, although he admits he’s not fit to fight Marika’s eternal struggle to become Elden Lord. Maybe the breaking of Miquella’s rune reveals that Tholier was seeking what amounts to a true death for a Tarnished, and the full power of St. Trina could be the only thing that could grant him anything that could feel even close to that.
As Trina has been firmly established as a manifestation of Miquela, the next question to ask would be, how long have they been a part, that is, how much time has passed since Trina has been cast away? Was it during the the shattering? Was it after the cocoon incident? Was it after our tarnished arrival? Even more importantly, was Trina a clear entity before the split, or just a guise, a mask of Miquela before the split?
The implication is that they were separated in the land of shadow.
@@square-table-gaming yep, but how long since Miquela went there, that's what i'm wondering. If Melenia fought Radagon during the shattering, and by the time her body was taken bake to the Brace, Miquela was already gone with Mohg, that may imply that it's been quite a while.
@@ilejovcevski79 it happens while we are there, miquella abandons his grace in real time, the game tells you as much. We are literally right behind him. Trailing him to the very end. You can even find mohgs body before it’s filled with radahns soul.
@@sampalace358 and there is the breaking of the seal...
I think it might have been beforr the kidnapping as Miquella with St Trina as the other half probably still has his humanity and kindness for lack of bettter word probably woukdn't have done something so cruel. But this would lead to other questions. Mainly, how Miquella gained access to the land of shadow before manipulating mohg.
I get that he craves this death-like sleep because he's smitten with Trina, but I'm sad he dies no matter what. So far Patches is the only NPC in my favorites roster who survives unless the player kills him intentionally. 😅
I think it’s pretty likely that thiollier suffers from some sort of chronic pain and is just handling it in the least healthy way imaginable thanks to the golden order’s extreme bias towards spiritualism over practical aid. I don’t experience chronic pain myself but speaking to friends who do, I’ve heard that some days the pain is so bad the only way to get even a little bit of relief is sleeping, and at the same time the pain also makes sleeping virtually impossible. when thiollier speaks I can hear that constant edge of pain in his voice, and I fully understand why he’s so maddeningly desperate to the point of risking his life over something as seemingly simple and easy to achieve as a good rest (to the point where he personifies the idea of this nigh unattainable peace as a caring lover!!!!). most of us tend to take sleep for granted but I think anyone would be just as desperate for the relief it provides as thiollier is were we in his shoes
I love when you guys drop. The deep lore dives and details you guys do are literally my favorite to watch on TH-cam regarding Elden ring. Please continue to do great work ! As you guys already do.
As soon as i met thiollier immediately i was like "we're best buddies now" and then, just like all my friends(Blaidd, Alexander) i had to fight them 😭. At least this time they can help with the final boss lol.
Thiollier is honestly probably one of my favorite characters
He is like, the only one i got done really but he also mirrors my characters progression in the story
Let's go sleepy boi!
love thiollier's outfit, especially his beautiful mask
Glad I found this channel with lore videos that don’t take a week and a half to watch
Oh we make those too, but they're just compilations of all the smaller ones haha
My first thought when I read the description of St Trina's Smile talisman after beating up Thiollier...
SIMP!
I’m STILL exploring. But so far my predictions are right! Woot. In a ton of “I told you so!”
On Reddit. I like to comb every area. ST. Trina was my most “ need to know” lore. I nailed it. ST. Trina’s nature and all yay me!
Same! I made a video on St. Trina WAY back in the early days of the channel and it's wild how much I got right.
He’s a metaphor for an overdose
Something to note: the bewitching branch is from a st trina cookbook.. but also in the 1.0 release the sleep(sophoric) grease states "solidified grease using st trina's jealously guarded arts." "The saint of the cradlesong has become the very symbol of lost repose, and the feeble of heart were powerless to resist her kindness upon the battlefield."
which heavily implies that uh trina can charm people too not just miquella.. now i dont know if thiollier is genuine because of this... did he start charmed and it became genuine or?.. i don't know.
Trina is Miquella and they likely weren't separated people until Miquella divested himself of her, so that makes sense.
I like to think that St. Trina was the part of Miquella that make him manipulate people, the compelling thing fits the lovable nature of St. Trina. So, in hope of ascending as Lord and don't wanting/needing to manipulate people anymore, he separated himself to pursue his own way. I wish we had a St. Trina or Miquella's ending, like the Ranni one.😅
I think St.Trina more representing truest love, without manipulation and brainwashing bs, that's why Miquella discarded her.
I like how you present the facts, what actually happens in the game.
Too many lore channels are going into some deep interpretations that barely make sense.
We try to make sure we're getting at something deeper but still presenting things as they are
HE WAS A HOMIE!! When I fought Radahn I thought I had one friend left, but I could’ve had two? I didn’t find St. Trina until after I fought Radahn, a fool I was…
The boy!!💜 I really care about him lol Thank you for talking about him!
Ansbach, Thollier, and you vs Leda and the gang was beautiful
Your by far my favorite Elden Ring Lore TH-camr, and this video is a perfect example of why, you make these characters live ever so slightly, Bravo!
Thank you!!!!!
Yeah, I missed that step of getting the black syrup from Moore till it was too late. Worse still, I found out the spell can also be broken if you ran the alternate path from Bonny Village, so I missed out on getting that concoction completely.
Oh well. Sleepy boy Thiollier was a cool NPC.
If they make another DLC I hope St.Trina comes back as a boss fight/story. Death Root and the poison of St.Trina flower becoming 1 new god Godwyn The Deadly Slumber you know since they're both deep rooted under the lands between someday they should meet
Favorite npc so far from the dlc but inbuing the nectar over and over was dumb
I love him!! I also love the idea of 2 new lore vids a week!
God he’s so pathetic, I love him
This was awesome. Keep em' coming.
Excellent video, 10 out of 10 ! ! Top Notch! I can't wait for the next one! 🤯
He had to resort to poison due to his frail nature
Boc wanted to see Renalla, which I agreed to, and I accidentally killed one of my only friends in the entire game, in one of the most depressing and tragic ways possible.
Thioller wanted to see St. Trina, who I knew was associated with Miquella. On top of that, I died three times already by drinking the concoction. Yup, I refused to allow Thiollier to visit because I smelled a classic FromSoftware trap, and for that I ruined the entire quest and got stumped not knowing what else to do. I thought maybe I had to find all 50 skadutree fragment or beat the final boss first, but nope. I had to do something FOUR times.
Definitely one of my favorite quests. Voice acting was so good and the story and concept of falling to sleep forever (not dying) being forever a sleep is very scary. Even though we got a lot of answers about what St Trina is. There are still some questions which is what I love about Froms cryptic storytelling. It says St Trina bloomed in the depths but how could that be if she was always apart of Miquella? Was she cast out and than bloomed there? Or something else? The Fissure is by far one of the best areas athletically, the atmosphere and OST in that entire area is peak perfect. The Fissure reveal legit almost made me cry not even kidding I’m was such in awe. Also her design is an S tier. It’s like a maze design if I could describe it best you start from the stem go up to the absolutely abstract woven flower body. Only to see a little child sleeping in the middle. It’s so good.
Please feel free to keep them to 1 a week, there's only so much more Elden Ring content to be made. I'd much prefer the extra time spent on each video
We're going to make sure it doesn't affect the quality. If it does we're going to pull back to 1 per week.
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Thiollier is definitely my favourite NPC in the entire game.
A shame this quest locks out if you recklessly burn the sealing tree early...
Sad I totally missed him and his quest. I foolishly wanted a blind play-through and locked myself out of a lot of stuff…
I’m pretty miffed with the quest design in Elden Ring overall.
You can replay the game 3 times without a guide, and can miss nearly every ending all 3 times.
If you do a blind playthrough it's on you to explore thoroughly. Don't blame quest design because you were lazy
I did a blind playthrough and found almost 99% of all the stuff in the DLC, I comb each area using the map and markers to make it easier for myself to know which areas I havent visited yet, you should try doing that.
@@savevsdeath nice, yeah just assume I’m lazy and didn’t thoroughly explore every nook and cranny I could…
Just ignore the fact that exploring things in the wrong order can ruin these quests, that this specific NPC vanishes if you cross an invisible boundary before even reaching Messmer’s castle.
So even exploring literally everything doesn’t mean you’ll find or complete these quests.
But it’s not that the quests are convoluted and poorly designed, I’m just lazy.
@@CFX992 I found pretty much every area and dungeon to my knowledge. My issue is the order you discover things can affect and ruin questlines that have rewards that I’d want…
I don’t expect to find everything in the game, but I also don’t expect to miss out on 90% of the gear just because the NPC quests are convoluted and will self delete with no warning or anything.
@@The.Nasty. I get you , but that's the fun in the game isn't it? things are not very easy to find, I think the base game already conditioned most of us to do what I told you about, if you found all the hidden stuff in the base game, combing the DLC region for secrets should be like second nature to you.
nicely done. This covered st Trina really well.
Well done, STG. Impressive work as always.
Thank you!
Um, excuse me: I keep hearing "Sca-doo" tree fragments, or "Sha-doo" tree fragments.
They're Scooby Snacks.
This is now canon.
My fav character in the DLC, hes literally me lol and the poison obsession 😩
Homie has confidence issues 😂
plus drug and territorialism are all red flags...st trina just like "yeah you can be mod and do my work for me, btch"
Imagine there be an Age of Slumber
Sorry I didn’t come into work today, I was too busy watching this banger of a video
If you’ve ever seen Naruto, Thiollier and St. Trina’s followers remind me of the Inifite Tsukoyomi (the infinite dream). Sleep and dreams are a place where there is no more suffering, no more struggle, no more bloodshed. It’s like a gentler version of frenzied flame. Instead of melting away every sin and every curse this is just sleeping it away. Maybe this is what Thiollier was after
My precious Eepy son!!
Im excited for dry leaf Danes story. Lots to unpack In the conversations with him.
When he said
" "
I felt that
He chose Simp as a starting class
hes so cute
I play without summons personally and do everything alone, but Thiollier.. man.
Since the start I loved him and always trusted him even though when he hates my guts I still wanted to comfort him and then later seeing him be summonable against the fight of Miquellas companions (MY FRIENDS :C ) I actually summoned him and Ansbach and it was such a great feeling of companionship and fighting in battle with my friend it felt so great and then after seeing all my other friends dead man it hit so hard. But thiollier my goat.
Him and ansbach can also be summoned at the last boss which I find awesome but I want to do it alone and currently on 32 deaths.
It’s a shame I only have thiollier and ansbach now.. why must the blood of my fellows, the erd tree faithful spill… why
what a touching comment and I agree with each single word of it. Indeed, they are wonderful characters.
Starlight's face on the thumbnail
Bruhh ☠️
I literally fell asleep listening to this, St Trina is real
Midra the Lord of frenzied flame lore is unsettling
Great guy, kind of sad I decided to go to Enir-Ilim early, so missed the whole quest line… 😢
Yup me too :( I was afraid this might be the case... Next time I'll get him!
Heroine addicted
Too bad they don't show what he looks like under his mask in-game. His feminine hairstyle only adds to his obsession with Miquella's feminine half. He's a true stan
Maybe he should have just gotten some sleep.
I would love to see a video on Metyr and the finger readers
This character honestly appeals to me so much. The unconventional romantic undertones, the clear mental health issues, the desire for the release of sleep.
This character is what some people would call "woke", in all the right ways, and none of the wrong ones.
Simp is the best descriptor
Square table gaming is like saint trina in a way. They’ll both put your ass to sleeeeeeepppppp.
Bayle and Igon next, surely 🥺🤞🏻
We have a poll for what comes next but I'm thinking of intercutting character stories between bigger topics
Shy and silent but his words should not undermine his actions
"Not the finest blade, nor the mightiest armor will spare your life from the poison of Thiollier"
I missed the upload cuz work 😢 But now I have the perfect bedtime story! Thank you ❤
Sall good! Watch whenever works for you!
Outstanding video!! ❤
Thank you!!
what happens if you hit him with deep sleep status effect?
He a pot head.
He's not dead, he's just sleeping...right?
I like to think so...
I wonder if he came up with the recipes in the fevors cookbook as well
Fevor seems to be the name of the person who wrote the cookbook so I dont think so. That would have been an excellent tie-in though.
@@square-table-gaming Would’ve been very cool! Love your videos and thanks for covering my dood Thiollier, I love this guy
We played him, just like we were played ourselves " such strength " because we are a demi god 😅
I’m still confused about St Trina and Miquella; did she come out of Miquella? Was she always her own person? Did he create her in the first place?
She's a part of Miquella. You can think of her as his literal capacity for love. He traveled the Lands Between as St. Trina, and when he divested himself of her, she took her own form, likely the one he used when traveling as her.
Banger vid 🔥
after this quest, you'd notice you can summon him in both fight agaisnt leda and radahn.
so.. they said using summons make the game easier right? try summoning both thiollier and ansbach on the final boss. the fight is borderline impossible.
So is there a way to move back you ps5 Elden ring save data back to ps4 version of the game on ps5 console. I just finished the dlc and want to move my data back to the ps4 version of the game what do I do
Not that I'm aware of
I hope in the future update fromsoftware can let you go back journey aka new game plus to reach the dlc easier and faster for things you missed out on
Wait, you can get Thiollier to help you in the final fight!?
Yup! Just follow his quest to the end!
