Thanks for the video. Sadly, I see very little enforcement of the highway code and road laws, so some people just don't bother, putting themselves and others at risk. Some people seem to treat the roads and their responsibilities like they are playing a video game.
Good advice. I failed Mod 1 on the avoidance. So have dropped back onto a 125 learner for a while, as I was not on one before, in-between and after training. Already seeing benefits and have experienced the negative side of the theory "dustcart" situation twice in my rides to work 🙂 Doing the Mod 1 again in 2months so figures crossed skills and confidence will be better. I wish you well and safe riding.
Hope all well... I thought of you today & shortly before this was uploaded @05:18 As taller vehicles can be "vision blockers" that was risky. That said....road would ideally benefit from a double solid line down middle. @05:37 ....Building was another visiin blocker. Your hazard awareness positioning & speeds virtually always feel spot on to me....your re-run felt perfect here. Thanks 👍🏍
2:49 the number of people that jumped on me recently for saying (elsewhere) that it's wrong to do exactly what that driver was doing, frankly worried me a bit.
I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes it can be disheartening to see riders doing all of this stupid stuff when there's a huge amount of safety promotion from all sides, yet they seem blind and deaf to it. After becoming an advanced rider, I enjoy my riding a lot more at a constant instead of haring it around everywhere then suddenly slowing down. I really feel like we need to bring back the very gruesome/disturbing ads for road safety, because the shock factor probably works better than almost anything. I remember vividly going to a slow riding event held at a motoring day at a local-ish airbase, and there was a car on a trailer that was a sideways V shape. The story was a German woman on her phone on a country road lost control after not noticing a bend and hit a tree sideways at 120kph, dying 6 hours later from the extensive organ damage. That has stuck with me more than almost any other anti-phone safety program ever has
It is a personal challenge for me to do my commute with as little braking as possible, using engine braking instead which forces a great deal of forward planning. A safer form of challenge than seeing how many bends I can hit with my knee out. I remember the safe driving day at school a decade ago.
Why do people drive/ride so badly? Is it they don’t know, perhaps their training wasn’t enough? Or is it just their attitude? Perhaps people’s attitude needs to be tested before they are given a license
The one with the cyclists on the roundabout at night would be a good choice for the hazard perception test. Its often the simple unspectacular things like these that lead to worse accidents so good choice of clips. 🙂
Great video Phil. Good reminder on necessity to slow down before junctions, especially in residential areas where visibility can be tricky…
thanks Cedric, hope you are well.

Great video as always. Well spotted on the no gloves!😮

@@dreamcrusher112yep and a gentle lever touch to show it as braking here too. 90% of my commute is city and slow filtering.
Excellent upload. Thanks 😊

Thanks for another great video Phil always enjoy and learn
