Help, I'm stuck in some water that comes up to my shins.
It's good on-the-job training for the rescuers as long as there aren't real emergencies happening.
Karen and Karen on the road again :D
One of our van drivers at work did it - 5 hour shift turned into 17 hours with him having to wait with the van from 9pm until 7am before recovery could get to him.

The one in Bedfordshire isn't too far from me.
Lots of VERY expensive vehicles with engines that will likely never run the same again 😖😣😖. awesome video Ben. Shows the crazy people are still at it :)
Loved the hydrolock crunch on the second one!!! And why should the fire service turn out to rescue you from your own stupidity( BMW woman)?
3:12 people on dry land should tell those in the car that they will not help them until they admit that they are stupid
These fords need signs saying "Stop and think ! Are you stupid ?"
Well, they've admitted it by driving into a river. 😅

Some of them even hit the water so hard that it's going to bend / crack / damage their bumpers, various body panels, undertrays from the sheer force of hitting the water. Complete idiots.
A meter cube of water, I believe, is a metric ton.
One cubic metre of water is one metric ton.
Hitting that water has likely cracked those radiators, so even if they can drive out, those engines are likely to weld themselves together.
A couple of them could have probably made it if they went slow and steady. Possibly even the Ford tosser trolley
the rufford videos had a massive collection of fallen license plates/undertrays/bumpers from that same issue 🤣
Knocking noise from that sprinter sounded horrendous!
It be sprinting no more.
You mean, VW Crafter? It be crafting no more lol!
@TrentJordan3198 Basically the same engine sharing since the 60s
The idiot driver continued to try & start the engine, NOT understanding that every time he attempted it, the engine was sucking up more water into the cylinders......basically the engine was -ucked completely.
Rods going through a block do make noises…
Wood end? Should be bell
Why do these total planks want to risk their (probably) second most valuable posession instead of finding a detour? Do they think cars are amphibious?? besides the damage to the engine by hydraulic lock, damage to the electrical systems, what about the carpets?? Risking writing their cars off for a very very stupid decision and putting the insurance up for the rest of us!
That’s like motorists who tailgate you during a thunderstorm when you’re doing 5mph under the limit for a bit more safety. They don’t care.
Thing thing is though, most of these vehicle's air intakes were above the water. Had they driven slowly and not gone charging in, pushing the water up into the intake, most would have made it across. I've been in this situation, and passed through unscathed; you have be very aware of how deep you are and where your intake is.
In my experience I have driven through plenty of Fords in a Ford vehicle and because I have attempted it slowly, I have never had any issues. Some of these dimwits on here need to learn how to drive.
Not even their vehicles. They work for the companies
Insurance won’t pay out if you deliberately drove into it.
People should be charged if the emergency services have to attend through their own stupidity.
Yeah wtf do they call emergency service not the AA or something, very dumb
@@lewis6565AA are the worst! They don’t go to anybody stuck in flood water and usually transfer the person through to fire on 999
@@lewis6565 AA are a breakdown company, this is not a mechanical breakdown this is self induced damage. Why would the AA want to get wet feet for a moron who thinks their car is a boat?
I believe that there is a charge for some services - services to stupidity should be included.
No, because some people would not call when they needed them thinking they might be charged.
You have to think about the consequences, not just type. Things are the way they are for a reason, if you had your way some people would not call before it was too late and lives could be put at risk, all because of trying to avoid this fine you're fantasising about.
I see that Polestar at the 5:01 minute mark came through like a champion! That said, I think every single one of these drivers is a complete loon for even considering driving across that.
If water has managed to get into the battery or electronics it will get toasted within days. Quite a gamble, in my opinion. I would park at a safe distance from home for a couple of weeks.

@@dominicgoodwin1147 "The Tesla cybertruck famously can swim."
What, it cannot fly?
@@dominicgoodwin1147 Out of factory. In used cars? Not so much. A few drops of water are enough to corrode the whole pack from the inside, leading to a fire a couple of weeks later. That pothole you've hit last week might have broke the seal. And how about second hand cars - better not to assume anything.
@@johngreen1060 well unless the pack has been opened to replace a module, I would still trust it over a petrol car.
The second van driver is holding his phone as well. 6 points.
Total idiot
I’m in a bmw it changes into a speed boat 😂
DON'T TRY TO RESTART IT!
I feel like this should be on the driving theory test! If your ICE car dies in water it's probably because the air intake got submerged, the engine stopped getting air, so it choked into stopping. That's not the end of the world. Get towed to safety and check filter and the block. There's a good chance you just need the air intake and filter to dry out and you're away.
If you try to start it immediately, you will suck all the water that's in the intake into the motor. Water doesn't compress like air so you will bend/snap pistons and now you're talking a full engine rebuild.
Is the air intake that low? Some cars got barely submerged.
@@marekrossi9365 Doesn't take much. Most OEM air filters are made of a wood pulp filaments which are, essentially, paper so it's super absorbent.
wow surprised by the tiny fiat at the end that actually just floated through
The wheels were acting like the paddles on an old Mississippi steamer ! Nice work.
I wanted the guy going backwards to succeed, just needed a bit more speed.
Honestly, it probably was the best of the bunch even though you could hear the exhaust bubbling lol
Yeah that was the best one. Once it was clearly paddling through I was fully invested and willing the little car on to get to dry land. They could probably make a movie about it. 😁

DPD- Delivering parcels dangerously.
Dpd drivers are self employed , no work for him till he gets it fixed
calling the fire brigade because you don't want to get your feet wet that brings a whole new meaning to wasting emergency services time, next time either don't drive through water or go slowly enough to make sure water doesn't enter the air intake
Another fine episode of ‘Britain’s got Talent’!
"DPD Your local delivery experts..." LOL
The difference between the BMW and the Fiat 500 is the driver’s knowledge and skill.
Not sure if you are implying the Fiat 500 had knowledge and skill. Driving a tiny car into what is essentially a river is either ignorant, stupid or reckless. I would say they can count themselves lucky to have made it through :)
@@mamalui Fiats are throwaway junk cars, that was the only driver making a sound decision in this entire video. Some of those people were risking the most expensive thing they will ever own by driving into that water.

The water was barely over the number plate onbthat amarok and it sucked water in
Unless you actually know where your car's air intake is, it's best not drive through any water higher than a cuppa tea.
I thought they gave it every chance and it still failed.
Yes, the air intake on my Nissan Pulsar is below the radiator, the intake pipe then rises near vertical to the air filter high up in the engine bay, daft I think this is because if the water is above sill level I can't go through.

Have the town council ever just thought about blocking the road off when it is in flood?
Nanny state! It’s obviously a bad idea to try to cross the river when flooded- let them enjoy the fruits of their folly
0:27 "High Street." Oh, the irony.
For the benefit of those not familiar with European, including British, geography many settlements are at river crossings with all buildings above historic flood levels. Most of the time the road will be dry or have a little water over it. Very occasionally a ford will be too deep to cross, in which case people in the past would simply wait a few hours for it to go down. Although flooding is more frequent now, building a bridge to allow for rare floods is not just expensive but difficult because it affects access to adjacent properties. There is always an alternative route.
Good one Ben, Cheers!

That little tow pick up is a beast
The highlight for me was the 2nd vehicle on the video (white VW van)

What happened to the posh woman in the BMW?
She drove in it got stuck, refused to get out so she wouldn't get wet then wasted the emergency services time by making it there problem
Looks like her elderly mother in the passenger seat, so a little more understandable. But I've seen them turn up for obese women also. To drive your own mother in to a deluge is especially stupid of course.

I used to go through 2ft of water easy enough with my 240 estate but not as quick as these were going. go just fast enough to set up the bow wave and it keeps the water away from the engine and keep revs up to stop the water going up the exhaust. interesting vid. thanks
