      @@daviddemars Exactly! I got to the point that when he asked me if I wanted him to go with me grocery shopping I said no! At most functions I would stay away from him! I found out I could be more social without him! I did feel like my brain was on high alert! It was exhausting!

    Not a question David but I want to thank you for your service. It's been a long time since I last looked at your videos but sometimes I need a refresher, and it's great to see you're still providing help. You've helped me a ton, sir, along with Richard Grannon and others who specialize in victims of dark triad personality disorders. And I am currently helping my mother with her case thanks to you. Sometimes she watches you also. I still remember your very first videos when you were still coming to terms with what you yourself were struggling with at the time. I hope many of the folks still seeking help will reach as long a way as you have in recovery and leave all the vitriol from these relationships behind. It's a long enduring battle to get over abuse for sure. Stay well and healthy, David. Blessings from the Philippines.

    Hi David! Very grateful for your video! Thank you so much! My uncle was histrionic with strong over narcissist traits and my cousin is also histrionic. Anyone could hardly have any meaningful conversation. Always interrupts, didn't listen to your opinion, finishes sentences, super loud, even stand up by the table frequently to speak up, while other just sitting. Very wild!

    Histronics become like this due to narcissistic parents, as we were always the invisible child...
    I have some NPD traits and little bit BPD traits. I manage very well my histrionic symphtoms and i often was missdiagnosted with bpd. My worst is adhd, abd c-ptsd due to being raised by a malignent narcisssistic father with bpd traits.

    Hi David
    Thank you for the video,. I looked at the C-ptsd playlist it’s very helpful. HPD probably can’t develop as a result of C-ptsd? I am sharing your videos on C-ptsd forums and people struggling with narcissistic people, your advice is always so clear and true and practical, thank you David.

      Hi Emile, thank you for sharing and supporting my work! C-PTSD is a stress disorder and is not necessarily prominent in every person diagnosed with HPD but I think may be common.

      @@daviddemars Hi David I recently discovered the word alexithymia. Does it mean the difficulty in articulating emotions or does it mean that you don’t understand any emotion in general for example you think a happy emotion is exactly the same as a sad emotion something like in autism?

    Hasn't there been talk about merging Histrionic with Borderline or just omitting it altogether? My ex was Diagnosed BPD, and she had every single Histrionic trait as well. Thanks David!
    EDIT - you touched on this right away - great video David!

      Thank you Andrew. Yes, there will be more changes in the DSM. There has been changes in each of the editions. Many professionals believe they are the same and that may happen but we will have to see. If this person does in fact have every single trait of HPD she may not have every BPD trait?

    • @duderanch18237
      @duderanch18237 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@daviddemars hi David, she ticked off every trait except for the anger / rage. When situations like that would arise she would literally blank out / dissociate and get a really scared / sad / confused look on her face. I think she was more of the quiet BPD type. She has all other 8 traits in perpetuity - they were all very common on a daily / weekly basis.

    I just want to point out that I see a trend that people say they are a HSP and seem proud of it. I know its a personality trait and not a diagnose and its one of those overlapping things that happend in between. As experienced in BPD I see a lot of similarities. Also from bipolar. Its intresting how pieces of your personality can create a cluster.

    Hi David!
    Do histrionics do the idealize and devalue too or is that more common with BPD? Also are manic phases common with histrionics, BPD or NPD?

  • @korissaguyton6895
    @korissaguyton6895 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I was told at work (Psychiatric care) supposedly the DSM is getting rid of Histrionic as a diagnosis, and merging it into BPD as part of the behavior criteria. After working with this type of personality for some time, it would make sense to merge them.

    i have hunch that all that confusion about personality disorders comes from our inability to try categorize something that is hard to categorize because it is on the spectrum and in different directions and we try to put ramifications on it.
