The kid who played Chunk(Jeff Cohen) became an entertainment lawyer and now represents Ke Huy Quan(Data/Short Round). He negotiated the deal that got him the part in Anywhere All at Once, which Quan won an Oscar and thanked Cohen in his acceptance speech and referring to them as his “Goonies brother for life” too. It's not that much of a shock. Jeff Cohen is one of the most successful entertainment lawyers in the USA.

The kid playing Data, Ke Huy Quan, recently won on Oscar this year(2023) for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Another fun fact is that the actor playing Chunk, Jeff Cohen, is his real life entertainment lawyer and handles his contract for Everything Everywhere. And if you haven't figured him out either, the dude that plays Sam/Mickey's brother, Bran/Jeff Brolin is Marvel's Thanos and Cable in Deadpool 2. RIP Richard Donner. Dude always made sick movies, from Superman 1978(Which Sloth references with even the movie's score by John Williams when he rips the shirt open revealing the S) to Lethal Weapon. Goonies is one of those "comfy" movies for me to see especially during end of year like from Autumn like Thanksgiving/Christmas season, same with Die Hard etc. The Sandlot is more of a summer watch. Horror or teen spooky movies like Silver Bullet, The Lost Kids, Monster Squad, Fright Night etc are good also for October/Halloween season.

We had a family on our block that had 5 kids and one Halloween, they dressed up as the Goonies. The dad was sloth, the mom was Chunk, the oldest daughter was Andi, the oldest son (who was also the most talkative and would just go up to anybody and start chatting) was Mouth. But the cutest was their youngest daughter, maybe 4 or 5 years old.....as Mama Fratelli. She had the beret and sweater and everything!
Also, the house in the movie is now a Goonies museum.

Stumbled upon this by pure coincidence. This movie is GOLD! It’s not just nostalgia. They truly do NOT make ‘em like this anymore 🤷‍♂️ The 80s was a MAGICAL/historical time for the movies! It’s THE decade to beat. Pure movie-magic like The Goonies, The Karate Kid, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Star Wars, E.T (the list truly goes on and on) EVERYTHING with Spielberg attached to it is just UNbeatable! The love, the craft, the heart, the charm, characters, GREAT stories, and the overall iconic movie-making on display is just unfathomable. All of that NetFlix BS-produced soulless crap now a days, truly is CRAP in comparison! We’ll never ever again receive such a beautiful time for films.. “Let me guess. YOU grew up in the 80s?”.. Damn straight! And I’m SO proud of that 🫶

One of the key highlights of that jamboree was when Steven Spielberg showed up in person to introduce the new cinematography merit badge. Spielberg was an eagle scout himself. The drug scene is somewhat ironic, since Corey Feldman, the actor of Mouth, became a drug addict later on.
He even referenced it when all the grown up former kid actors did the audio commentary for the DVD together with director Richard Donner.
Someone once said that only people who saw Goonies as teenagers appreciate the movie, but your reaction proves otherwise.
The stiff in the fridge was one of Spielbergs go to stuntmen. He can, e.g., be seen in E.T. during a scene when the police try to catch the kids on the bikes.
The music is by Dave Grusin, who is mainly a jazz composer an pianist, but he also did some very good soundtracks, often for Sidney Pollack like „Three Days of the Condor“ or „Tootsie“. The latter is a very good comedy from the 80s.
