    Fun fact! Pirates that worn eye patches didn’t actually wear them due to a missing or damaged eye. They did it because when you go from topside to below deck your eyes take too long to adjust to the darkness. SOOOOOO, they’d wear it on one eye in the light of day in deck, and switched to the patch to the other eye. Because the covered eye was already used to the darkness, it quickly adjusted to the near darkness below deck on a pirate ship. Arrrg, drink hearty me maties.

    • @MikkiManson13
      @MikkiManson13 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's a theory for the old association of eyepatches with pirates, not actual historical fact. Normal sailors also were not known to wear eyepatches.

    • @timhilton7254

      Also, eye gouging was a thing back then. Men would let grow one of their thumb nails and then sharpen it to a point so that in a fight or if they're attacked they could gouge out a mans' eye with their thumb nail if they could get the upper hand and get on top of them.
      Men who were prone to getting into drunken fights were often missing an eye.

    You should do a video with your parents if possible. They need to explain to this community how they neglected your classic film exposure. Then they themselves should subscribe to the Ocotkrool channel so that they can build their own film knowledge vicariously through y’all! Glad you did this one. It’s so much fun.

    And the final trap was to set the ship to sail. I would assume, believing it would crash into the cave wall sinking the ship and taking all the treasure with them to the bottom of the cove killing the thieves at the same time. But since the cave in was cleared... just in time. It sails off into the sunset

    Remember the days when they did novelisations of films? This film has the best novelisation of all time. It's all told in the 2nd Person from Mikey's perspective. Then there's a whole Chapter called "Chunk's Story" where it is told in Chunk's perspective. It's well worth getting if you can find it!.

    shorts over the sweats was our style in the 80s. Especially in PE class. Our standard uniform for PE class for both boys and girls was Tshirt plus really short shorts. Looked great on the girls but not so much on us guys.

    That baseball card that he found would have saved their homes. When I first saw this in theaters (I was nine years old), every guy was going "Keep the card!"
    Richard Donner -- the director of this movie -- directed Superman, and since both movies were done by Warner Bros, there was no legal issue when it came to the music in that one scene.
    In the director's cut, just before the kids get to the ship, they encounter an octopus, and Data kills it off with one of his gadgets. But this is not in the theatrical release, so the line about the octopus threw us off.
