  • Friends, scenic overlooks and motorcycles. Nothing better! The day started off chilly, but turned into a fantastic day with friends on my first official cruise in 2020 with the CRF250L. The new 13 tooth front sprocket handled everything I through at it, including the highway. We made our way up to one of our favorite spots and had a great afternoon!
    Like I describe in the video, I filled my sd card up really fast, but I still tried to turn it into something I hope everyone will enjoy.

    I have to say Jacob, this is the first video I've seen with a CRF250L in group riding with more than one other bike on TH-cam. Well done brother. Nice to see you go through the gears and still be in the pack with the bigger sport bikes. Looks like you had no trouble on the highway and at high speed. I have 50 lb on top of you and a few inches LOL, but the bike fit me well when I sat on it. Taking a few for a test ride today. This will be my first dual sport after owning all other types. Cheers brother keep up the good work

    As far as highway driving,it really depends on what kind of highway. Here in Las Vegas it's typical for highway traffic to move at 80mph which my cr250l is not suited for. Although my 2013 tops out at about 85mph, 65mph is where it's comfortable at.I'm still very happy with my bike !

    Looks fun but I never ride in big groups. I prefer riding backroads solo. I just subscribed and have been enjoying your channel. Keep up the good work. Audio, video, and editing is great.

    Make sure to check your chain guides and wear strips because the 13 tooth front will eat them up quicker and can cause swing arm damage. I have the same bike. I recommend changing the rear only.

      @@JacobBoone I second his comment. I noticed the wear immediately after installing the 13T and switched back to the stock front. I have the 42T rear and its great!

    Thanks for the videos. I’ve been obsessing over which ds 250 to buy on a budget, so these videos are helpful. Does this ride end up on the Delaware river gap? I saw some jersey plates and that road makes me think of the days I used to ride a bit in the Pocconos. I also Miss the days of riding the pine barrens in southern Jersey. Lots of fun down there. Ride on!

      It ends up in New York, but those are all local places I ride frequently throughout the Tri state.

    Great video! What was your top speed? I ordered 13t for my rally. I wonder if its not overgeared or affects the top speed and cruise speed. I ride on pavement 80-90% of the time.

    Thanks Jacob. Nice vids you do 👍
    About the speed accuracy afaik you have to change with the speedo module otherwise speed is not accurate as it is calculated with the speed of the engine + gear you are in. Do i don't understand when you say that you don't have to put the module. Maybe a new feature in the 19 model ? But I doubt. Thanks. Bye from Belgium

    • @JacobBoone
      @JacobBoone  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do have to install the module. I have it installed and calibrated.

    I felt absolutely unsafe on the highway until I installed the 13 tooth sprocket. Now I don’t hesitate to hop on the highway it’s actually fun.

    Do you have to get a speedohealer of sort when changing gearing?

    • @JacobBoone
      @JacobBoone  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don’t have to, but I did so I knew that my speed was accurate. You could also change the gearing and check your speed on a gps.

    I'm sitting between 240-250lbs, how do the 13/40 sprockets fair off road??

    • @JacobBoone
      @JacobBoone  ปีที่แล้ว

      You will feel the difference dropping to the 13 for sure. I was 150-160lbs and adding the 42 tooth in the rear is where I felt the bike performed the best. You will be losing about 10mph top speed on the road though.

    • @MudOregonVet

      @@JacobBoone aaaaaaah, I left the the front alone and swapped the back, I'm currently running a 14/45 setup, top speed dropped from 80-82 with 42 to about 72-74 with 45 tooth, not entirely sure how accurate speedo on my phone is

    How was the highway riding on those knobbies?

    • @JacobBoone
      @JacobBoone  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m still riding on the stock tires, so it wasn’t bad at all. Don’t be fooled by the knobs because they are like 90% road 10% trail.

    I don’t mean to brag butttt I hit 95 on my crf250L once. Wind was on my back and she was running extra good that day haha. Normal top speed stock gearing I top at 82 or so
