Hi I have a 2012 Maxima and I did a complete interior swap. The new seats are factory heated seats and the new console has the seat heater seat buttons. Is it possible to use the wires from a kit like this to wire those seats? my car is not wired for heated seats.
Started this install tonight, just pulled all the wires and switches are installed, but it's gotten too dark out to continue. Ry your videos are fantastic! I've become so much more confident and excited about working on my vehicles since finding you. (I even joined Reddit for the X info) Thank you!
A couple ideas. 1) You could replace leaf springs. 2) Replace rear open diff with some sort of limited slip diff. 3) add a snorkel (I know that isn't really useful for you but I've been wondering if it's possible)
Love the leaf spring idea. Snorkel sounds fun too! Not sure if I want to get into the diff but I appreciate the suggestion. Thanks for the feedback man!!
@@Rythecarguy No, Yank you! I have 2011 Xterra and your vids have been very helpful many times! Replaced struts and spark plugs using your videos. You have me tempted for seat warmers!!!!
Haha thank you. I figured someone would notice. Usually with something like this I will do one side first and have it down pat. Then shoot the video once I have the experience. I did it differently this time.
You should install power seats from a pro4x frontier or one from a r51 pathy! I assume the wiring will be similar. Not sure how big of gauge wire you need etc for it though
Great work as always! I’ve watched so many of your videos to help me with my Xterra. So thankful for your had work! Not sure if you’ve done a video yet but u-joints would be helpful as well
I just bought a stock Nissan X-Terra and was thinking of some u[grades to do to it. Its a 2005 SE. You should make a top 5 things to add/change to your X-Terra.
Excellent video, I was looking for a video to replace the upholstery. This is great! Except that you did not removed the seat cover completely. I think if you remove the cover seat and replace it with a new one since you already did all that work, then you will be able to position the heating pad on the desired position. You/we will now have a heating seat with a new upholstery! Mine is already ripped and I’m sure most of the 2005 Xterras need a new cover. This could be a less expensive than doing all the upholstery. Hopefully you do a video showing us how to replace that seat cover Thank you!
Should be easy for you to put on leather covers now. Mine came from Katzkin Leather, Montabello, CA. I got mine through a dealer because they install them on new cars and they look great. Wish I had told them to add the heaters. I needed them this past winter at -18 in Montana.
I can tell you from experience your wasting time & lubricant. You'll have to replace the motor & regulator. They are cheap & easy to do. 1A Auto sells the parts & has How To Videos.
Finally an xterra video ,nice job man. As far as what I'll like to see I wheel bearings, as i have an 07 Pathfinder which is pretty much the same car, but if everything's working fine I guess there's no need😁
Thanks! Yea it’s been too long. I like the bearing idea but yea, ok will wait till one starts to make some noise to do that. Thanks for watching. More Xterra vids coming soon!
Dude I love your videos I got a silver 2006 Xterra just from watching your videos and I'm going to start working on it I think I'm going to do videos and load them up on my channel my content is different but finally I found a channel that shows working on the Nissan Xterra
Ry the car guy - circleing back around to this, I am finally buying these dorman seat heaters tonight for both seats. Guess I’ll need to find another place for a second add a fuse as well.
Love all of your videos, thank you! I just did this to my 2012 last night. Quick question, did you wire both seats to one fuse or did you use two different slots?
Love you channel being a fellow Xterrarian here lol. Your vid helped me on my Fog light install. I will say seeing yours tho with Manual rolling windows my last car had that was in early 90s and I had no idea X had that as an option. Also at end of Vid we have same year 2005 curious how many miles I have automatic with 108.7k but electrical windows. How about for your next thing to do is Tint the windows on it which you being in Florida would really help!!! Love the channel and all the vids you been making! Last thing couldn't you get nice seat covers and stick them to Stock Seats then put seat covers over and wire how you did?
Thanks man! I appreciate you watching my videos! My X is going to hit 150k soon. I think I am around 148,500 miles. I like the tint idea, it does get crazy hot down here. I suppose if you are not worried about potentially messing up your upholstery with adhesive you could try it. I would also recommend a very thick seat cover of you try it. Most seat covers are super thin. I would not want you to burn yourself or something by not having enough fabric between you and the heating element. If you try it let me know how it goes!
@@Rythecarguy Thanks for reply and really do love your X vids. You make everything so simplistic and enjoyable as you do stuff.. I bought some on amazon and they are a little thick like 1/4 inch and like a neoprene fabric style. The main reason is I've been needing to cover seats as driver seat from coming in and out is separating at a the point where the 2 fabrics meet from climbing in and out of the truck which for every older X i see that happens to it. So I need seat covers honestly to protect it and make the seats last and don't want to put in heat elements in regular seats then have seat covers as that seems to thick to me and won't be hot enough I think. I am gonna keep my X running as long as I can I love that truck. Its also 2wd "Soccer Mom" Edition lol. I bought mine brand new in 2005 with 3miles on it and like I said I have almost 109K now.
Hey Ry, used this guide to just swap my bottom seat cushion cover (OEM). 3 cuts on my hands doing the swap! - also that lose piece of black foam was reduced to a crumbly gooey mess (2007 Frontier). Anyway thanks for the help...!
I always enjoy your quality videos. Once again this is a Great video. I did both of my front seats for 2008 Xterra two years ago. By far the best mod I have done especially if you’re in a cold climate. I have not done any upholstery before so taking pictures was very helpful. Also, the metal parts under the seats are sharp so wearing the right gloves saved my hands. At the moment I am dealing with the short in my Transfer Case Unit. Essentially my 4wd works intermittently. Dealer quoted 1500$ CAD to replace. Can’t seem to get my hands in a used unit and the part itself. Is about 1200$CAD. Any ideas where to get a used TCU?
If you have heated seats now and they're not very warm, is it a very quick swap with adding the back element as well and not just changing the seat area(butt)?
Hey RY the CAR GUY. Really nice videos I have a question i have 08 exterra. I did LED LIGHTS and I unplugged both battery cables like you did on one your videos. And the VDC/SLIP LIGTHS COME ON I DON'T KNOW HOW RESET PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME. THAN YOU.
