Hi I'm the one who built the stainless pipes on here. In my defence these were made a long time ago and the fit is much better now. I also have new alloy spigot flanges for the headers. The cans on there have you taken them and looked down their length you may find they have been assembled not quite in line. These are not my cans but I have noted on similar cans this issue.
Fitting on the left side is hampered by the lower non std chain runner, remove that and tweak the rear bracket slightly and all will be better. This will allow the chin piece bring able to be pulled up and back more.
These pipes were never made to be fitted with a center stand fitted.

Interesting comparison of Toomey, SpecII, and Kenny's pipes. The battle of clearances is real, as trying to seal off spluge. 😉 Nice job on both.
Yes they are all different not surprising I suppose. The thing that surprised me was the consistency of the left pipe spacing to the tire always being more on the left pipe. After further review I have determined that the I could tweek the foot rest mounts welded to the frame a teeny bit on the left and then opposite a teeny bit on the right to get them equal. I have had to do this on that poor Thrasher bike.

@@KensGarage1 yeah I have ridden it about 40 miles around the neighborhood. The flywheel came loose right when I got it back so I’m a little concerned. And now that it’s cold I’ll take some time to get other stuff done.

the first set of pipes that fit perfectly but had that odd flange retaining arrangement... Were they the Spec II f1's?
@@brians3998 That first set of stainless steel pipes are Kenny pipes TSA (two-stroke addicts). As I mentioned in the video they are beautiful and I wish I could use them on this bike but not going to because of the chin fairing interference.
I have a set of Toomey's from around 2000..I honestly think you will be fine with that chin fairing clearance. My right side is about same distance as yours and have not had a problem with melting or deformities.
Good to hear Stephen. It's too close for comfort for me. Once that chin fairing warps there's no fixing it. More on this in future videos.

Ive placed a order for next years new batch of ed toomey pipes for my 1984 31k.
Its have to retain my chin fairing as Its gonna look somewhat stock. Maybe need to check that with ed that they actually Will...

@@htothejay Is Ed building the pipes on the east coast or his brother Stuart on the west coast? Stuart was the original pipe builder but there's been some talk of Ed building some in the future. I want to replace my original Spec 2s at some point and want to go with Toomeys.

Also where did you get your swing arm bushes /bearing kits from and are the rz ones specific to just rz s the ebay listings list about 25 different models that they fit and when you buy for rz they dearer than say yz 125 do you have part number please 😝

@@KensGarage1 I have a guy local that’s going to make them useable. I’ll post some pictures and videos of before and after. Pretty sad that the guy delivered a completely unusable set of pipes and he’s pissed at me about it…
