  • Ok time to try out the Screamers as a lure for a strike fleet! Let's see if it works!
    I have another community submissions video coming too!

    That ending though. Hate to see it happen.
    Potential tip. I adapted some parts from your audacity build for my own interceptors, however I mounted the missles to large square hull pieces since on paper the durability seems to be greater I haven't lost any missles to enemy fire just yet. Might help you save on missles in the future.

    For radio decoding i find its far more reliable to try using the fleet group label at the end of the transmission, if aviable

      Oh and you can also sell any useless ammo that is looted via the my ammo list
      Just select the thing and drag the slider to the left (opposite of buying direction)

      Yeah I need to come up with a little cheat sheet as I always feel too under pressure when recording to look it up.

    I took a lot of inspiration from you on my most recent campaign. I'm really learning to appreciate the aircraft mechanics now, killing strike groups with bombing before they can even catch me in combat

    • @Phrosphor
      @Phrosphor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's very easy to overlook bombers but they are hugely important. I am glad I could be of help!

    oh what an ending!! great editing! i liked that despite that fact that i didn't like seeing the ship die of course... the kastor is gonna be an easy pickup now though, just like the city without garrison...
    i think even better than elint would be ir on the screamers... you could easily sit them close to a strike group without being detected but very closely monitor their movements or of course attract their attention with the jammer if needed. but it feels like they're flying blind and lose a lot of their autonomy by still having to rely on elint and irst ships nearby...
    looking forward to what will come out of this campaign! :)

      @Phrosphor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really need to get some sensors on the screamers like you suggest, it will help SO MUCH. And yeah that was a hard recording session, very drained after. But I am really enjoying this playthrough.

    Great campaign so far! A thing I've definitely learned from my experience is to have at least 2 separate strike crafts per detachment just because of the chance of a trade fleet/garrison attack like you experienced. You can detach one frigate to take on the trade fleet and have the other continue on to the garrison.
    Another thing you should consider for the zenith launchers is to place them them in at least reinforced hull/cover with armor, if you're not able to embed the launchers within the ship itself. Since your launchers are exposed on the top, you can change the hull pieces to be reinforced to save the pods from exploding within a few shots. Reinforced hull will only decrease the overall speed by like 10-20kmh, which is worth it for such a fast interceptor, and it'll lower your RD/IR signature so enemies have a lower chance to ping you prior to intercepting (SG, missile carriers, etc).

    • @Phrosphor
      @Phrosphor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I switch to using two strike craft in my next video, and I also rework my protections for the missiles. I would rather not mount reinforced armour as it weighs so much more, but if these changes don't work I will need to rethink.

    Some thoughts:
    1: Given the range of your aircraft, It'd probably be best to keep your aircraft carriers out of radar range as well as your missile carriers unless you're committed to using their armament-
    2: The large missile carriers are useful because they have multiple roles, and are capable of intercepting enemy missiles approaching the main fleet. But they're somewhat hard to get in range without endangering them and the whole fleet. A small "missile boat" design might be preferable for attacking strike groups as it would be faster and more expendable
    3: Regarding radar: It's obviously good to not have your fleet radar on at all times, but the enemy ELINT capabilities are limited. Trade fleets and garrisons have no ELINT. Meaning only the strike and tactical groups are capable of detecting you through passive emissions. Something like the screamer may benefit from a small fire-control radar to enhance its detection range. In combination with ELINT, it can detect the enemy SF through ELINT before they do while its radar is on because the detection range for FCR is only 800 km. You can spot any threat before they do and simply turn off your radar. Not even that- you can simply sector scan away from the ELINT signal.

    • @Phrosphor
      @Phrosphor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are all really useful, I am planning on the first two already but I hadn't considered using sector scan to avoid an ELINT signal.

    • @vaclavjebavy5118
      @vaclavjebavy5118 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Phrosphor Do note that you can use the entire sweep as long as your ELINT range is higher than double your radar range. For big radars, sector sweep is ideal.

    Ooof, that ending. I thought all in all, one ship lost this early is a setback but a recoverable one. You have been going hard with the Audacity.

    I highly recommend incendiary ammo against the big (hurt) blokes. They only have so much fire suppression and then they cook. You don't need to get in that close.

    Is there even any negative effect to having low Kindness? So far the stats just seem to be relevant in the mid/late game with a handful of checks that have a better chance of success based on certain stats. It doesn't prevent you from choosing certain options with Tarkhans, so it seems like there's no downside to tanking Kindness.

  • @kwdblade4683

    I haven't played too far in to a campaign but are strike groups/tactical groups/trade fleets persistent? As in they won't spawn more if you destroy them all?

    • @Phrosphor
      @Phrosphor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strike and tactical groups will NOT respawn. Everyone you kill makes life easier in the long run. At a certain point in the game they will all garrison in Khiva. Killing them first means you don't need to deal with a deathblob

      @@Phrosphor so AFAIK the game actually does spawn 1 additional strike group during the events in khiva at the end of the game if youve already killed all of the previous strike fleets. IIRC This happened in your previous campaign since you couldnt find any on intel before reaching khivia, because it wasnt spawned yet, but then there was one normal strikegroup spawned at the end
