Roku is the king of free programming. I cut the cable a year ago, get 5 local channels OTA and a huge amount of free streaming services. I save over $100 a month and don't miss cable .
We are gonna make a full circle when it comes to cable lol. I paid around 230 for cable and internet. Then a few years back I decided to just stay with internet and remove cable. Internet now is around $120 but plus Disney, max, Hulu, paramount, peacock, Netflix I’m paying around $190 🤦♂️
I have noticed some of the free Roku apps that provide free entertainment will freeze in the middle of a movie, documentary, etc. Sometimes it will cause the Roku to reset itself and come back on to the main screen you see when you first turn it on for the day. Others, it will stay frozen and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. So beware of that. Some of the free options will ruin what you are watching by throwing ads every three minutes. I get that free needs to be supported somehow but every three minutes is a pain in the a**. Beware of that too.
I absolutely love my Roku stick! I found that if you do a search for something, it will tell you which app has it so you don’t have to search each app. My husband loves hunting shows and the hunting and fishing channels are great too.
Unfortunately the search dosent cover every app. For example I subscribe to one of the foreign TV services. A lot of times search will say its only available to by off Amazon or Apple TV. But it dosent mention its free on the foreign app.
I just bought the Roku Express package at Walgreen's for $29. I have a 2008 37" Toshiba flat panel and I'm truly amazed at how improved my TV picture is. I feel like I have a new TV. I'm slso enjoying the mirroring app for reading e-books and I can also have my TH-cam premium music account transferred to my tv and of course it has much better sound than my smart phone. I'm very happy with my new set up.

The movie options in Roku channel are iffy. It used to be better we're talking just strictly the channels. On demand is probably better. Depends on what you want but looking at it and comparing it to Pluto TV... Pluto TV has done better content. What I think Roku excelled in the movie area is a lot of TV movies and also classic movie channels. But for some reason they lost the '70s channel they had when the channel rebranded. That's why Pluto TV is better because they got a '70s Channel. The classic movie channel is mostly from 30s to '60s. If they started adding '70s content I didn't notice. And I also don't know if the classic movie channels would ever do silent movies. I would venture to say they don't. But I like silent comedies.
