I'm going to preface this by saying I really do have the utmost love and respect for Luke and Linus, but I am LOL'ing so hard over here it hurts. Love you guys!
Joseph Wright not trying to be mean, but it isn't a hot glue gun, it is a heat gun, think industrial hair drier that isn't meant for hair and would give you second degree burns on your scalp if you seriously used it to dry your hair while ignoring the pain, it would also burn your hair off, otherwise the same concept.
Major Meteor No, it was a reference to a while ago when there was smoke coming out of the server room and they had no idea what it was. I think they still don't know what it was.
Oh right, I thought it was a joke that only those who knew that their server room was in the Bathroom would get it cos it's ironic :) Guess I was wrong
Greetings from the future! Linus leaves a link to this video 5 years from now, which no doubt will cause its total views to skyrocket. The world is very different, yet very much the same. Good luck.
SNOWBLIND771 Smoke was coming from the server room once and they never found out what was on fire/smoldering. Even now they still don't know what happened. They said they took everything in there apart and still couldn't find where the smoke came from.
Rafi Kazi That's the advantage TH-cam has with it's owner company being Google. Servers across the globe already. Vessel is just starting off and I doubt they have a good enough coverage yet. I look forward to Vessel getting more competitive with its features. Just like Twitch forcing TH-cam's hand to stay relevant in the streaming industry.
just an fyi those brass colored drill bits are most probably titanium nitride coated high speed steel bits. if they were actually brass drilling through a wet paper towel would be difficult (not really but you know what i mean).
I think Linus needs to make more hardline builds. I know you can here me, Linus. Maybe a comparison build in between a sealed loop vs. a comparable flexible loop vs. a comparable hardline loop. Which of the three is more effecient, quieter, prettier, and performs better.
Hardline is the most unpractical thing ever, its fine if you don't change hardware too often or move the pc too much. Long as the diameter of the tube/pipe is the same, performance will be the same. Hardline is considerable more epensive and far more time consuming to do. So really the only benefit is aesthetics, which is totally subjective and can't be taken in isolation from the rest of the build. Case/blocks/color co-ordination are more important.
I have had many problems with many computers but I been watching your videos and doing a lot of research so I decided to build my own gaming computer very fast and very strong 1,000 dollars is the limit and u can do a lot for that lol keep up the good work guys
Wow that looks amazing, how much extra would a single gpu, single 240mm rad, build with all the fittings and pump/resivour add to the price of a system?
Cool vid Linus. I've watched a lot your past product review videos and always thought you were informative as well as objective. And there was no lack of that here! I love how you guys are humble about the PC build. You don't feel the need to show the audience that you know "everything". Instead, with an honest approach, you show us all the "oops" moments and the learning experiences from your build. Nice dude! Much respect! I now know what I'm getting into with the rigid lines.
I love the look of hardline builds, but, as a watercooler myself, Im gonna leave it to everyone else to enjoy building them, Ill enjoy looking at them. Ill stick with my preferred soft tubing, 1/2X3/4 with compressions. I know Linus is just cringing at the thought of building a dual gpu and cpu loop with that size tubing and compressions. Ill admit, its often a pain in the ass,, but as Ive done a bunch now, its become a lot easier because Ive acquired quite the library of Bitspower fittings, including a plethora of different extensions at all angles. the first ever build I did using that tube size with compressions, was very tough. And its like $200 in fittings the first time, and thats not even close to what you truly want to have available to you. NOW, I have whatever I need, but in the past i used to wish i could do the build at the bitspower headquarters and just be able to try out everything possible. Second favorite method of water cooling is again, soft tube, but using the TTL method of 1/2in barbs with 7/16ths tubing, and no clamps. I really like the look of a compression fitting build complete with extensions and elbows, but TTLs method is just super clean and sharp looking, and that tubing is NOT coming off a 1/2in barb on its own.
If you pause a few frames after the intro at 3:03 you will see a secret quote intro message... No joke lol there actually is one and I don't know if it is a error or not.
2 tips when you want to drill holes that touch another hole.. use a piece of wood, drill through, give the metal a center punch, then use the drill or a ice pick to lign the hole in the wood with the center punch, clamp it down and yoiu dont have to dremel.. but the same with the dremel clamp a wood on the case to give you a guide (i use a round stick because my dremel has a round groove where u put your fingers) if you bend the tubing it comes down to an even amount of heating.. the radius of the bending is neturally the amount of the heated material so stick two bigger tubes over the one you want to bend heat an area of 4cm, remove the upper tubing and get the angle.. also there i would use for axample a piece of wood with an 90° angle and a 45° cut away 2x2cm.. give it a bit of a pull while bending you dont wont the inenr side collapse i dont like it.. bracause i like same angle's.. and if not same then at least in 90°, 45°, 33°, 25°.. relation to the case back, case bottom and to the tubeing itself.. sry but the white tubing is not parallel to the other white and the black is not vertical in any way.. dont be confused i like the video but the result would not work for me yes i know that the small amount of tubing causes this
I actually plan on switching my setup to hardline. your setup actually has given me a lot of ideas regarding parallel tubes at 45 degree angles. clean look!
fuck vesssel and youtube alltogether... LinusTechTips should just create a blog or vlog. he got enough HDDs to make his own video host... and his own blog /vlog he can do whatever he wants there. no need to follow youtube bullshyt rules and all his earned money would be his, no youtube % to pay and stuff.
***** that is not fair at all. imagine the next gpu/cpu reviews comming at 1 week on youtube after their release . are you kidding me? this changes everything . anyway at how bad vessel is they should pay me to watch videos on that stupid platform. i thing its in alpha or smthing
Cory _182 youve got no idea how a small business works.......... just because he hires a ton of people doesnt mean he earns a lot. he has to pay them all, equipment and still make some sort of profit.
Late and not sure if others have said. The brass coloured drills are Titanium Nitride coated, which is great for harder materials. Also hard line should be larger ID than soft line so more cooling capacity and fluid.
I have a question (probably one of many): For the lower radiator (I presume you're using the Primo Enthoo case); why drill holes in the bottom of the case, why not use the existing radiator adapter? Also on the lower radiator; earlier you said you had some components that are overkill (e.g. the 1000 + watt PSU), why not use a thicker radiator? I've got (2) 64 mm radiators in the Enthoo Primo I used. At the 15:22 mark; there's a black hose going from the radiator to (what looks like) the reservoir, did it really kink, or is it just the angle of the video?
What we are really saying here is that you wont be able to run any high end games at acceptable graphics, in fact some wont run at all, LOTS of old games you could run though, check out Good old games site, aka GOG.

If this computer stuff dont end up working for you Linus, U can always become like R. Kellys backround singer or something. Thats the best nerd singing voice I have ever heard!
I used PETG on my build and holy shit is it easy to work with the lower working temps and a lot harder to break if you even end up doing that somehow lol
Linus, do you think that by posting videos earlier on Vessel which a lot of people have the free one year access to, will drive viewership down on TH-cam on the videos already watched on there? LinusTechTips
You guys are putting out some great videos and i really appreciate all the time and effort that goes into each one. Your information has been invaluable while i've been putting together my next PC/WS build. as a finer point, at 3:51 'the brass ones' are a Titanium Nitride coated drill bit. the TiNi coating helps to prevent galling while drilling metals like aluminum. Man I have a liquid cooled pc in this case with 2x 480mm rads and 14:00 is a really good representation of having to deal with it. The built pc weighs like 70lbs lol
Mission Complete - Learned something new today. New to "complex" PC building. Is there a performance difference between soft and hardline builds? Great video, great channel.
I don't think at the time this came out I would've said the production quality could ever improve by an order of magnitude, but it has. And it was great already back then.
Stunning until it leaks into the circuits. Linus pardon my French but this looks like a water bomb in the making . Don't cry when it leaks and burn down the Lab and room and house.
Lol, my first water cooled PC was a hardline tubing build. I hate the look of flex tubing (simply not elegant enough). And thus I went for hand bent hardline tubing. Still the most beautiful PC I've built (although looking to trump that soon).
the editing on this channel really has improved 10 fold lmao
I thought my headphones were crapping out for a momentwith the audio, almost forgot it was like this
I'm going to preface this by saying I really do have the utmost love and respect for Luke and Linus, but I am LOL'ing so hard over here it hurts. Love you guys!
thats ok your channel sucks you deserve the hurt

Well now with that water cooler... what isn't their bathroom used for?

I'm suprised their server hasn't gotten water damage yet.

Holy shit Luke looks young! GTX 980s.. Wow. Yet not long ago i could've sold my old 970 for what, £250? Christ..
Would like to see another build with hardline again
Would have liked to see a parts list lol
Mine cost about £600 for a similar rig, for w/c parts. Christ such a waste of money.

NoobSeanGamer The second hand watercooling community is generally 70% less than retail.

Eh. I know that a lot of my water cooling mates go second hand. It's like anything, check it out before you buy. Second hand is great, I swear by it.

And your point is?
.
Axecution they think they are special for watching it 2 or 3 days earlier on Vessel
That's cool, I can watch it here at 1080p
JamesCraft too bad no one gives a fuck
Just use copper plumbing tubes like I did back in highschool in 2000s, plus it looks gorgeous
easy to bend? Like any room for errors?
Copper is a very malleable material, i wouldn't be surprised if you could bend them by hand.
VoltageLP but tot would probably be mixing metals and would basically have to throw some silver parts/fittings for it to be more practical
The copper tubing would also displace far more heat than rubber tubing or plastic hardlines. Which are LITERALLY insulators lol
If you pause a few frames after the intro at 3:03 you will see a secret quote intro message... No joke lol there actually is one and I don't know if it is a error or not.
As someone who bends plastic for a living, it was so cute to hear that you have the gloves for the heat.
2 tips
when you want to drill holes that touch another hole.. use a piece of wood, drill through, give the metal a center punch, then use the drill or a ice pick to lign the hole in the wood with the center punch, clamp it down and yoiu dont have to dremel.. but the same with the dremel clamp a wood on the case to give you a guide (i use a round stick because my dremel has a round groove where u put your fingers)
if you bend the tubing it comes down to an even amount of heating.. the radius of the bending is neturally the amount of the heated material so stick two bigger tubes over the one you want to bend heat an area of 4cm, remove the upper tubing and get the angle.. also there i would use for axample a piece of wood with an 90° angle and a 45° cut away 2x2cm.. give it a bit of a pull while bending you dont wont the inenr side collapse
i dont like it.. bracause i like same angle's.. and if not same then at least in 90°, 45°, 33°, 25°.. relation to the case back, case bottom and to the tubeing itself..
sry but the white tubing is not parallel to the other white and the black is not vertical in any way..
dont be confused i like the video but the result would not work for me
yes i know that the small amount of tubing causes this
"We're redoing the intro because we lost the footage." I died right there.
Really Angelina Jolie is just too tall for Linus :p
Anything can run Battlefield 1942. But can it run Battlefield: Hardline?
7:09 the moment i heard it....

and luke, you have the looks of a top model man :),

I actually plan on switching my setup to hardline.
your setup actually has given me a lot of ideas regarding parallel tubes at 45 degree angles.
clean look!
Linus: Well we are having a deja vu moment..
Vessel users: Indeed we are
this guy hasn't changed
Wait, can it run minecraft??
Adam Davidson A potato could run that piece of garbage
1001History what gpu does a potato have?
Adam Davidson two titans
Anthony J oh, so 30firstpersonshooters per second on low, huh?
It might be able to at 24 fps
I love Luke's choice of eye protection when he is using the Dremel on the case!
OMG, the precision is phenomenal. I can't imagine the effort in bending those hard tubes and still fit them nicely.
Vessel sucks. I'm not going to pay just to see a video a few days earlier
It was free for a year a few days ago I only got it cause of that
It's not about support they earn enough, Linus hires like what 8 people? Full time? He earn quite a lot.

Anyone else notice the double intro screen thing?
But can you play Counter-Strike on it?
Hilarious.
FrostFyre I know. Glad you agree with my sense of humour.
Does it play modded skyrim with uhd textures and ENB mods?
FoodOnCrack No.
FoodOnCrack easily.
Late and not sure if others have said.
The brass coloured drills are Titanium Nitride coated, which is great for harder materials.
Also hard line should be larger ID than soft line so more cooling capacity and fluid.
I have a question (probably one of many):
For the lower radiator (I presume you're using the Primo Enthoo case); why drill holes in the bottom of the case, why not use the existing radiator adapter?
Also on the lower radiator; earlier you said you had some components that are overkill (e.g. the 1000 + watt PSU), why not use a thicker radiator? I've got (2) 64 mm radiators in the Enthoo Primo I used.
At the 15:22 mark; there's a black hose going from the radiator to (what looks like) the reservoir, did it really kink, or is it just the angle of the video?
