This new generation of riders with the likes of Pogacar, Van der Poel, Van Aert and Vingegaard is the best thing that has happened to cycling in the past 15 years.

How does he look utterly outclassed. I think people are prone to extreme side taking. Pogacar is objectively better than vingegaard as a package. He's better in sprints, better at ITTs, better at punchy and short climbs, better on cobbles/gravel and is just a good racer. Not much better of course, just more well rounded. Vingegaard however is a better alpine and altitude climber. They have their strengths and weaknesses. The parcours will dictate who comes on top the next few years.
@@ThisIsANameBruh Potentially a strong phrase, you aren't wrong. However, it's the visual eye test where Vingegaard is sticking too him like Glue wherever he goes. @@bjsr126 I think the reason Pogacar looks like this is that he completely fatigued himself in the first week and with pointless sprints all the time. He didn't look like this in 2021 and Vingegaard was getting dropped in the final kms of the climbs on Portet and Ardiden (long climbs where pogacar would just kick for 1 minute at the end). Very happy to see a splendid break awayed stage win & performed by Quebequian rider! For us "Froggies", Quebecquians are like brothers. "Long life the free Quebec!" Pleased too whit a 🇩🇰rookie Vindegaard replying to every Pogatchar attacks. Joyfully seeing 🇫🇷David Gaudu at the 5th general place!
Haha Pogacar was embarrassed at the end to say that Vingegaard is not suffering ! Because he's not. You can clearly see on Vingegaard's face when he's in the red. Clearly not the case today.
Yeah. I mean it’s demotivating for Pogacar when he sprints all he can and he just sees a stone faced yellow jersey sticking to his wheel like it’s nothing.
Poga doesn’t have a team like Ineos who can set the pace with a hammer blow. If UAE won’t buy super domestics, then no doubt to see Poga be soon in the British squad!!! And the praise will turn into hatred.
I believe last year, Pogacar rejected the offer from Ineos of 10 mil+ a year, so I'm sure he doesn't want to change his team. UAE team this year isn't even that bad considering covid and other problems. Jumbo is just super strong and no other team can match them.
I wish success to each team for the efforts they make. Wow they are champions, but to focus on the peaks, focus on something more important, which is love. Put your focus on your dream until the peaks reach the life cycle. Of course, you summarized them in.... 💙💎🚴
I think Pogacar can bridge up to 1:15 in the TT, having his 2020 victory working in his favour. So he needs more than one minute in the next 2 stages. Gonna be very difficult though, but for him not impossible.
@Петро Ґ Pogacar has won the TdF before in the last TT and he probably has it on his mind. Its a long TT so certainly not impossible, with Jonas feeling the weight on his schouders.
@@newsbuster292 Vini is a strong TT rider as well so I would be surprised if he loses a minute to Pog. After last year I think Vini has upped his game and Pog is really up against it now.
Kuss is like clockwork - looks like a baby giraffe just spat out on the ground in the first two weeks, then starts absolutely crushing in the Pyrenees in week 3. Looking forward to seeing if TJV try to bury the sword in the next two stages, or if Pogacar can fight back (basically) solo.
I know it was a technical problem, but I felt like Majka had also a physical problem when he tried to take the control of his bike. Later, we saw him holding his left shoulder. Probably nothing serious, but we may see another surprise tomorrow.
Look at the scene where he snaps his chain. Suddenly, you make a weird movement because the resistance is gone and he twitches his right shoulder. Anything can happen: a torn muscle, a knock against his bike/asphalt...
In every stage baring the TT, actual bunch sprints(and even then he’s been close to top 10) and when he was dropped, pogacar has sprinted for either bonus seconds or to get a gap, I think wout and jonas were simply trying get the jump on him this time with wout leading jonas out
No. If you’d watch any stage you would know Pogacar tries to sprint at every finish to maybe gain separation and thus a couple of seconds. Vingegaard obviously knows this too so he anticipated it and started sprinting himself
Pog is confident, even tho he’s won the last two years, he still feels like the underdog since he doesn’t have the team Vingegaard has. I’m rooting for him, but mostly just happy to see a good battle.
He won the last two years, Vingegaards first TDF was last year as a helper for Roglic. When Roglic crashed Vingegaard took over as a captain he had already lost to much time to win because he started the TDF helping Roglic but he became second anyway. This year is the first year Vingegaard become the captain and he’s number one, give the man the credit that he deserve, if it wasn’t for Vingegaard TJV could never win the TDF….
Noob question, is it usual for chains to break in races? Like the bike must have been checked quadruple times before starting. Are engineering margins so low due to weight / performance needs like in F1?
It's not unusual for chains to break, but more commonly they just jump off and you have to reattach them. Road cycling are more like endurance races than F1, 5-6 hours of relatively high power being put through those chains make them prone to failure - especially considering vibrations and how they are completely exposed to the elements.
pogacar as an attacker is so much more fun to watch then as him at the front. as TJV i would have let pog go ride alone in front the first climb give him 20-30sec, let van hoydonck pace downhill get sepp kuss to pace into the second climb and try to catch up with pog and then let jonas free for the last climb and wout train for the last descend. but i guess they are afraid to take the risks of the chaos and of crashing of a fast downhill. and i guess they don’t have to anyways
Vingegaard has the psychological advantage - answering all Pogacars attacks. I think Vingegaard will show he is the strongest today (stage 17) and leave Pogacar behind again.
Pros seem to ride super hard on their equipment. I ride older Campy and Ultegra and NEVER have issues over thousands of kms. I assume there's a bit of mechanics rushing through the endless builds too.
I believe with Tadej (because I was 23 yrs old once) feigns he knows good racing smarts in a grand tour, but he really hasn’t had to use any in the past as he lucked in to superiority by genetic blessings. So that’s why his prior experiences lead him to distrust the established means to win Grand Tours. He is also understandably desperate to get back in yellow… totally understandably. He and his teams will have to adhere to the proven recipes to win. even then he may dismiss the established strategies because he enjoys racing like this. Sponsors will pressure his teams though to help him win classemente
Kuss is doing great. It is clear he is good at steady pacing but shit at explosive accelerations, which is why he wasn't great at the Granon and Mende stage, but is now. Also you can see he is riding really smart. Instead of reacting to an explosive attack and blowing up, he just goes into the wheel of a GC contender he knows will try to get back steady pacing (like Thomas always does). This way not bringing anyone else back himself, not blowing up and even getting some extra time to 'recover' before pulling on the front again.
As a Dane, I do not think you give Jonas enough credit. When it comes to strength, he has proven his worth, with or without his team. Did you know that Jonas still trains in flat Denmark. He has chosen to stay where he thinks he belongs with his family and he has not traveled to Monaco like many others. That said, I'm still a big Pogar fan. But I like that we hopefully not look into five years of domaination by a single rider
So true, it seems like he doesn’t get the respect that he truly deserve, everyone is with Pogacar and the British talks about INEOS and GT, as they believe that he can win this year’s TDF!
I reckon JOnas look better then Pogacar today, and perhaps also could have gained some time, before the decent but its really not the right call.. chancing it on a downhill. even with Van Aert.. He looks like the strongest rider uphill... so keep it tight and don't chance it on a downhill. we all saw how it went last year at Mount Ventoux. where Jonas also dropped Pogacar.. and gained like 40 sec at the top, but lost it all again at the downhill all alone while POgacar could lean on other at the downhill.
So why would Vingegaard ask Kuss to pace once Majka broke his chain? Seems like since he’s in the lead he should make Pog pace and have Kuss sit on his wheel
Pogacar is so damn chill in the post race interviews, he has such a calm energy about him which makes him intimidating. The way he said "yeah, probably" was hilarious.

@@rocket88164 haha. Maybe.
seems to me that pog gave this bad boy away. but i mean it was amazing to watch and i hope he never changes. next year i wonder if he will be quite so bold.
Laporte is tug buddy of the day
Pogacar is so classy just smiled and said “ yeah he’s suffering.”
"classy" lmfao
cycling is about how much pain you can hold and endure. no one gets it any other way. once you hit you max and your rival is with you, both of you are suffering...as long as your rival is unable to shake you off ...yes, both of you are suffering.
@@niinuetey9878 yes in a record heat wave they are all suffering.....
He said that because he had to. Pog realises that it’s not as easy as he thought, JV is a rare talent. Pog will never have an easy race in the future if JV is in the race too.
Good analysis, insights, v good highlights
Does not appear pogacar can drop vingegaard on a climb
We will see
I fucking love pog, hes just such a likeable guy
Very happy to see a splendid break awayed stage win & performed by Quebequian rider! For us "Froggies", Quebecquians are like brothers. "Long life the free Quebec!" Claimed our Gal de Gaulle in Montreal 1967. & during the 1st world war, my grand father fought against the 🇩🇪 onboard of a fregate named "Dumont d'Urville", the salty dog who fought against the 🇬🇧 navy around the Hudson bay, & whose father built New-Orleans! I also think to the Quebecquian soldiers who were sacrified in the 1942 landing test in Dieppe, place where I lived from 1977 to 1980. Pleased too whit a 🇩🇰rookie Vindegaard replying to every Pogatchar attacks. Joyfully seeing 🇫🇷David Gaudu at the 5th general place!
Next two stages in the Pyrenees will be pure war! Classic TdF showdown.
@@nielshaug30 it's hilarious 😂
Huh? I think Pog said Vin is probably suffering.
@@inrissk Yeah and Vingegaard's body language and ability to cover any attack Pog throws at him says otherwise.
@@inrissk I mean he has to say something. But it’s clear on Jonas’ face that he isn’t suffering one bit.
Poga doesn’t have a team like Ineos who can set the pace with a hammer blow. If UAE won’t buy super domestics, then no doubt to see Poga be soon in the British squad!!! And the praise will turn into hatred.
You mean in 2028 when his contract with UAE ends?
I believe last year, Pogacar rejected the offer from Ineos of 10 mil+ a year, so I'm sure he doesn't want to change his team. UAE team this year isn't even that bad considering covid and other problems. Jumbo is just super strong and no other team can match them.
I wish success to each team for the efforts they make. Wow they are champions, but to focus on the peaks, focus on something more important, which is love. Put your focus on your dream until the peaks reach the life cycle. Of course, you summarized them in.... 💙💎🚴
That's it Hugo une autre étape à ne pas cligner des yeux grâce à tes exploits!!
Vingegaard is very good at tt. 1:15 - I don't think so.
I find it really amazing that the neutral motorbike NEVER, EVER has sticky bottles 🤣🤷🏼♂️
Nairo is strong RN, hope he can jump into the podium! I know there is a TT ahead but he can try the heroic.
Im a dane and i feel happy
Cuz Jonas vingegaard have the Yellow shirt
Pogacar is really cool. I like him more and more after each comment.
@@Scheinregen Anytime you break a chain and don't crush your balls it's a win.
6:06 Did Jonas participate in the sprint to take away points from pogacar in favor of WvA? Maybe it's a thank you for letting a stage win slide.
In every stage baring the TT, actual bunch sprints(and even then he’s been close to top 10) and when he was dropped, pogacar has sprinted for either bonus seconds or to get a gap, I think wout and jonas were simply trying get the jump on him this time with wout leading jonas out
No they've been sprinting against each other with Pogacar since the start. Pogacar always won until today, so i guess he wanted one back^^
No. If you’d watch any stage you would know Pogacar tries to sprint at every finish to maybe gain separation and thus a couple of seconds. Vingegaard obviously knows this too so he anticipated it and started sprinting himself
Rafael should have taken a shimano neutral bike no? Heard they are SL8s.
Yeah it’s normal. It just happens. These guys put out so much torque day after day that it’s bound to snap.
It's not unusual for chains to break, but more commonly they just jump off and you have to reattach them. Road cycling are more like endurance races than F1, 5-6 hours of relatively high power being put through those chains make them prone to failure - especially considering vibrations and how they are completely exposed to the elements.
The day I break a chain I’m going to frame it (after I recover from the injuries!!!).
@@davidhughes3337 lol I’ve only done it once. It’s more annoying than prideful
fireworks incoming on stages 17 & 18. Let's hope JV will be the one creating them.
Haha I think the interviewer with Pogacar meant "hiding" but Pogacar just stuck with "hitting" haha
pogacar as an attacker is so much more fun to watch then as him at the front.
as TJV i would have let pog go ride alone in front the first climb give him 20-30sec, let van hoydonck pace downhill get sepp kuss to pace into the second climb and try to catch up with pog and then let jonas free for the last climb and wout train for the last descend.
but i guess they are afraid to take the risks of the chaos and of crashing of a fast downhill.
and i guess they don’t have to anyways
Stage 11 at Col du Granon proved that Pogacar was human after all. Loving the battle so far but let’s be real, Vingegaard has this in the bag.
HUGO! 🇨🇦
The cc are hilarious! at some point Pogacar = Pikachu and van Aert = One art = we'll finance
Another day, another LR "Pogacar something ATTACKS something Vingegaard" title. 😅
OH CANADA!!!
Netflix should do a 'Cycle to Survive' series!
they are
That's the best TdF
That pun was descent!
Vingegaard has the psychological advantage - answering all Pogacars attacks. I think Vingegaard will show he is the strongest today (stage 17) and leave Pogacar behind again.
I am trying to remember the last time we saw a rider break a chain. That was just weird, although I doubt it would have mad e a difference in the end.
Pros seem to ride super hard on their equipment. I ride older Campy and Ultegra and NEVER have issues over thousands of kms. I assume there's a bit of mechanics rushing through the endless builds too.
Don’t forget Vingegaard is also thinking about hitting spots these next couple days
I’m predicting a Vingegaard attack on Hautacam for the stage win on Thursday.
Tadej Foccacia is my favourite Slovenian Bread.
Lovely interesting, pogachar is slow today. Further he will do good . Thanks TTF
So happy for Hugo
A relegation battle update would be interesting now
I'm just scared about the time trial that's coming up...
So Pog says Jonas is suffering. Then why couldn't he break him?
3:41
Mathieu Burgaudeau really need to work on his water bottle technique. That aim is what lost him the stage.
No, Vingegaard was what lost him the stage!
Or maybe just accept that there is another rider who’s just as good!!!
Tadej races on instinct. It is great to watch, but sometimes his lack of tactical understanding hurts him.
Did Sivakov crash on the corner (where Jorgenson did) when he was in a move w Alaphilippe a coupl years back?
I drove that area in May. Not easy in this heat!!!!
I love Jonas.
He is viewed as a pretender to the throne, much like Bjarne Riis.
@@mrichards55 Vingegaard is a much better and complete rider than Bjarne!
What on earth are you talking about? Lanterne was the guy advocating that Jonas would win the tdf this entire time
wout and kuss is pure class act TJV
If Pogacar can't bring down the deficit to atleast a minute, then Jonas got this.
Everyone should watch Jumbo Vismo documentary... how Jonas was rising for the team to protect Roglc....
How much time can Pogacar make up in the final TT?….assuming he enters that stage still in the #2 position?
A minute at most
Lanterne are you David Gaugu's twin?
So why would Vingegaard ask Kuss to pace once Majka broke his chain? Seems like since he’s in the lead he should make Pog pace and have Kuss sit on his wheel
