@@andrehufschmid It's a lot. You don't know much about cycling if you think this was not a lot on this stage. It's going to be over 5 minutes in the end.
He doesn't look good(to me) in the saddle, though. I worried about all of them and I've descended from Hampstead at 90 KPH, during lockdown. Best buzz ever. So much so, that I went back up and did it again!! What was fastest speed today. I know that at 90 everything goes past in a blur. It was dark, though.
@Hkbgdhk Sorry, but you are wrong. Wikipedia even has a page devoted to it: "The Triple Crown of Cycling in road bicycle racing denotes the achievement of winning three major titles in the same season, usually the Giro d'Italia general classification, the Tour de France general classification and the UCI Road World Championships Road Race. It is considered by many fans of the sport to be the greatest 'single' achievement in cycling. Although mostly it means winning the Giro, the Tour and the Road World Championships in one calendar year, occasionally a broader definition is also seen where the victory in the Giro d'Italia can be exchanged for the Vuelta a España; this alternative has gained traction as the Vuelta, historically the least prestigious Grand Tour, has gained in reputation and importance. A hat-trick which did not include the Tour de France and the World title would not generally be considered as the Triple Crown." In any case, Giro+Tour+Vuelta has never been achieved in the same season.
I think Vingegaard is doing as well as one could expect, especially on the climb. If there was any worry it is the loss of 20+ seconds to Pogacar on the descent. Not sure if this shows hesitation on down hills post-accident, or if it is fatigue. Either way, losing that many seconds demonstrated a loss of form more than any other thing we've seen.
The goat of cycling simple as that. Pogacar we are watching the goat of cycling as we speak🐐🐐 And if you think Merckx would beat vingegaard in the high mountains and Mvdp in flandern go check yourself right now.
Watched it on Itv for a change. Must say the commentary on Itv is miles ahead of Eurosport. Far less boring and annoying and more focused on the actual race.
And likely Vingegaards psyche after the crash. Jonas is usually better. Compared to last two years JV has half a meter extra safety margin in every corner
@@migianogoux1967 Time trial is a differnt beast and Vingegaard was way way better than all others th-cam.com/video/99JY354ptUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=x3mEjgPcXDgQvE7q&t=75
Maybe, maybe not, but it won’t matter because he’ll be far back on time, and without a typically strongJumbo team, it will be very difficult for JV to drop Pogacar when the UAE train sets a scorching pace on the remaining mountain stages. This is a different Pogacar from last year’s Tour.
@@user1qaz2wsx3edc I’m not ready to say that the Tour is over. It’s still early & unlike last year, JV is behind in time, and unless he closes the gap in the first TT, he will have to attack like Pogacar did last year to gain time. I feel the cumulative attempts & attacks will wear down JV due to the lack of recent racing in his legs. Also, his team is nowhere as strong as in the past years - no Sepp Kuss, and WVA is still recovering. If Tiesj Benoot is JV’s last man in the mountains (great rider, but no mountain goat), JV is going to have to do the work on his own. We saw how Tadej got worn out by the two-headed attack 2 years ago by Jumbo. Now, the tables are reversed. A 100% JV might be able to consistently attack, but I don’t think he’d be able to sustain it over a 3-week period in his return from injury, much like what happened to Pogacar last year.
Wout wasn’t there in the Spandelles descent back in 2022 either, and we know what happened there. This is more on Jonas’ lack of training and recovery after his injury
Vingegaard looked wasted and wary of the descent. It seems like the big crash may still be an issue. And where is his team support? He is doing amazingly well under the circumstances.
Jonas and Visma team are doppers! Cheaters! I always said it and today in the live stream they found a spectator from Denmark who bragged about how he knows Jonas very good from teenage years when they rode together for local teams but then unintentionally ousted Jonas saying that he was always below average rider who constantly got dropped and then started getting really good after he was 18. Hahaha, I knew it. You can make a case against Tadej, but Tadej was always extraordinary. He had to compete in categories higher to have challenge. I raced in Slovenia, Austria and Italy in the 90s and you'd never see a champ coming out of being average. I was never average and all those that were champion material, we'd never get dropped. The fact that Jonas suddenly rose to power and fame is just the Visma LAB thing. Lab specifically. It's very obvious, but lots of fresh cyclists are popping up following this sport and thus they're easily impressed and persuaded that Jonas is a special guy, that Wout is a special guy, that Roglic is a special guy, that Jorgenson is a special guy. That the entire Visma from 2022 and 2023 were amazing! Sure, amazing at gobbling concoctions from their LAB. Ain't no way Wout who's from a completely different world, cyclocross can perform at such high speeds as road cyclist specialists and sprinters. No way Roglic comes into cycling way late from a completely unrelated sport discipline and under Jumbo becomes a champ of road racing. Talent? Sure, but much more science than talent is the game here. And Jonas from cold ass Denmark performs amazing in heat and gets better in the 3rd week of grand Tours. A bunch of garbage masking the fact he's dopped up because his team director is greedy as shit!!! And their dirty racing is disgusting. Last Tour they forced the peloton to wait for their injured riders who were not even GC while they had Wout in the breakaway who wasn't slowing down. When Jonas saw that Tadej was in pain from his wrist injury and was shaking his hand after they reached the top of a climb Wout and Jonas started accelerating into the descent and started dropping Tadej. Total BS team and they finally got their karma this year. And now they're tryina spy and stalk their contenders w/ their stupid van. Ugh, never despised anybody as much as I do them and their weasel Jonas who pretends to be humble and is everything but that for those that have the eyes to see. I could back anybody to win over Tadej but not this guy. Something's off about him ever since he got onto the scene and that's why the general consensus in the peloton is that nobody cares about him. Most tolerate him and that's it. And stop trying to brainwash me how Danes are just such humble quiet people. Blah, blah, blah. I said when Kuss won Vuelta that Visma will fall apart. You can't be so greedy to dope up everybody and then have too many top dogs racing for Jonas only. Kuss got a taste of fame and victory and that was enough. He don't want to waste his prime years to make others famous anymore. They made a huge mistake by letting him win. It was their downfall. And they should have never forced Primoz and Wout to be super domestiques. They trained them to be winners, so they're not happy to grind themselves to dust for others. It doesn't work that way.
Tom Pidcock weighs like 125 pounds and yet is one of the best riders downhill. Not the weight matters but technical ability and willingness to risk. These excuses are getting out of hand.
