I've known for years that I am a broken work in progress. I, and my eight siblings, were raised by a paranoid schizophrenic Mother who frequently flew off the handle. Our Father buried himself in work - because he had nine children to support - also because he was escaping the chaos of home, or so I have come to believe.
I stopped with two children, (now of adult age), because I KNEW I did not want a repeat of my childhood within my own household. I never knew how to parent, (in hindsight). I only knew how I did not want to parent.
Hi, thx for your work. Seeing oneself in others & viceversa is a great virtue. What I love about your work is that it’s inclusive & compassionate, realistic! Buddha said suffering (traumatic experiences) is universal & there is a way out of it. That still works today too! I am not a Buddhist but I have done some research on Buddhist psychotherapy & thousands years ago they had same kind of problems we are facing today psychologically of course there was no internet no globalization which today make us massively aware of these issues & that we just gotta accept it & work it in best way possible through healing

The Devouring Mother. I'm a man and I finally broke free of my mother's shadow.
I had to figure out that she wanted to be the only masculine in the house. Even when I became of age, I felt more suffocated emotionally. She had 4 brothers and her father growing up. I see where she tried projecting characteristics of others onto me.
In order for me to move on, I'm learning to move in silence and to not tell her my future goals. She likes to take over instead of understand and support. In relationships with the feminine, need a cheerleader, not a coordinator.
I totally agree with you when you say motherhood is hard work,
and that some mother's today are like babies, very immature,
you could say, some mothers are more like children rather than adults.
Children don't like to make rules nor to teach the child, because they're learning themselves, not to put down mothers learning,
I'm just trying to point out the fact
that children can't learn and teach
at the same time, so one can assume that the child will be raised to be a spoiled child.

You were a sweet, beautiful baby, and i am so sorry tou had to endure such cold, resentful, disgusted maltreatment by your mother figures, and a lack of support from your father figure.
I am reminded of Daniel Mackler who is quite radical when it comes to not having kids, which made sense to me. He says kids deserve the best parents possible, and rare are those people who can be.
This is great, thank you for presenting this in a accepting/inclusive, non-blaming way and with relevant metaphors.
Shame is related to the Earth element in Chinese philosophy. That element is related to the organs of Spleen and Stomach, so this kinda tells that shame affects your stomach and spleen. But then shame creates Grief/depression which is linked to the metal element and the organs of Lungs and Colon - large intestine.

The worst heartbreaking experience for me was leaving the narc mother and my daughter behind together with a sick monster..I could not do otherwise be leave and save myself..now my small daughter is being stuck and manipulated by her narc mother and some new papa rhe mother has already got into her life for new supply, and proably just as unaware or narcissistic as my daughters mother...the mother is criminal and full of narc bs..i am now 10.000 away..I had to give up to save my life going away..the mother is out of reach already having lost her real self and humanity..I can do my best to fix myself learning my lesson from being with a narc

Sharing a possibility, however it is hard to confirm, shame also comes when something shameful was made by your family, even though your conscience doesn't know, and happened long ago, maybe from your grand parents, but at some level, your inner conscience knows well, maybe because we receive genetically not only the body but also their thoughts, the way of thinking may be translated as the color of your eyes, the shape of your hand, also in the genes is the knowledge of past memories from your ancestors, and if they did something shameful, you have in the inner conscience that situation, is not reencarnation but genetic memories, so until you wake up to know where that shame comes from you can heal, like 'this is not me' it was something else, but I have their memories, I 'think' this is a postulate from Carl Jung.
Oh boy, my shame went from a carry on bag to 100 check ins.
Shy people are shamed people...does it also apply to introverts?

And the etymology of the word Shame linked to the word in old english Scamu - Scam, interesting cause in my language which is slavic, we say Sram for Shame. And the word Scam ( to trick or swindle, perpetrate a fraud. ) . This world is a big Scam. So its about dishonesty, insincerity, lies. The lies that we believe as truth, but the body knows they are lies, and those lies separate us from our center.
In mythology or marvel movies - Loki is the god of trickstery, cheating . Or deception - the Decepticons in transformers. Maan soo much symbology, metaphors all around. I link this Decepticons to those Dark lords, or archons, draconians who control this earth in a way, but their power now is falling. They use deception for their own benefit and make humans slaves. That deception is a lot in religion.
