Thats crazy, he was convinced. I haven't tried the beyond burger yet, although I do plan to. But I had a "no turkey feast" sandwich made with soya meat the other day and I thought there had been a mistake a first it tasted exactly like turkey and stuffing and the texture was just like the real deal. Some of the substitution "meats" are getting really good now.
As a chef you can most definitely tell the difference between a regular beef patty and a vegetable patty. It's neurologically ingrained in the human brain to differentiate between plant and animal protein. Also no restaurant will triple its business by adding a vegan dish. Its basically impossible based on restaurant economics. Vegans are a incredibly small portion of the population and for a restaurant to have inventory and labor invested in a dish that will sell occasionally is not a good business decision
One may not want to eat a vegan burger once it is found out how it is made. The old saying .... don’t look to closely at your food, you may not want to eat it.
vegans never mention the horrible chemicals that are put in vegan burgers and vegan products. I know this is a surprise to most vegas but it is not better for the environment. If you would like proof, I can post 3 at least two hour-long videos breaking down every aspect and data as to why that is the case. I really love this channel and I think these two people are wonderful so it's no dig against them personally
I tried the Carl's Beyond Meat burger a month ago and was IMPRESSED! I have made better bean burgers at home but this was the best veggie burger I have had from a restaurant! hope it sells well for them!
Amazing just shows that even hardened meat eaters can't tell the difference. If they can keep it up it's got to be healthier for them and who knows, small steps.....?
I'm not Vegan but I do not eat animals unless I know where they came from. If I ever do fast food it is vegan or veggie patties so I really love that places are coming around. Burger King also has a fairly good veggie burger. I know people that are vegan and have an issue with their food being cooked next to or on the same pan as animal products and would not be ok eating from these places, though I do think this is a great step in the right direction. Wow I can't believe it. The closest Carl's Jr. to where I live is 2 hours away: in Brooklyn NY. Sigh. We have Hardees everywhere though but they don't carry the Beyond burger of course

I have loved vegan or veggie burgers since they first appeared. I in fact told a friend of mine I could cook her a veggie burger and she could not tell the difference between it and a meat burger.
I don't believe next level is raw vegan! Raw vegan has a lot of benefits but so does cooking, steaming, pickling, fermenting, dehydrating, and brewing!
VeganAthlete dehydrating under 46C/115F is the same as heating something in the sun. Fermented foods don’t need to be cooked either. We’re the only species that cooks our food. There are many reasons to be raw vegan, but one that sticks in my mind, is the prevention of out of control parasites. Cooked are virtually empty on mineral and vitamins, so are just feeding parasites and not healing. So, if you want your lower spine to heal, try going raw vegan for a month and see if it heals. Category 2. products that TASTE like meat, but aren't(Beyond Burger, etc) Category 3. products that have only the vitamins, minerals, protein, nutrients, amino acids of meat, but no appearance of food(supplements).
I focus on a whole plants foods based lifestyle but I am vegan for Ethical reasons as well as for health. I will try vegan junk food such as burgers but don't depend on them.
So what combination of weird ingredients was necessary to mimic the meat you don't want to eat? Why not develop specifically vegan foods that are more honest, rather than copying the food you despise? I don't get it.

I'm sorry but if I want to eat something that tastes like meat, I will eat meat. There is nothing wrong with eating meat. Its loaded with protein and other things. You all can eat what you want but please don't vilify us that still eat meat. I've tasted vegan food and I like it. A balanced diet is more important I feel than staying on one side or the other.

Hell yes! I love the Beyond Meat burger. Got my coworker to try it one time and he is an avid meat eater and said it was great.
