He's unique because he doesn't have connections with the previous presidents, especially the first two. and he didn't come from a military background. He's a pure civilian, very humble. Ironically though, it's such a background that makes him get looked down upon by some people, an upstart they called him.

Rakyat kecil biasanya menuduh elitlah yang hipokrit. Sekarang saya melihat, di antara rakyat pun ada yang hipokrit. Logikanya, yang paling memahami suka duka rakyat seyogyanya adalah orang yang pernah menjadi rakyat sipil biasa. Berharap pemerintah berpihak pada rakyat. Mungkin memang ini sudah jadi karakter manusia, tidak akan puas sampai pemimpin itu dari golongannya sendiri.

There are more than 500 million views worth of videos on Indonesian social media channels (mostly youtube alone) targeting India and Indians specifically on a wide range of topics like street food (using clips actually from Bangladesh and sometimes even other places like African countries , China, Malaysia) while claiming they are from India. On open d f c t n issue using old stats and outdated video clips from 2010 when they uploaded their video in 2020. On caste system they will make videos purposely leaving out important facts to present an unbalanced biased view of the issue that makes us Hindus look cruel and like shavages etc
I'm a Malaysian and I hv the highest respect on President Jokowi. In my opinion, he is the best President of Indonesia. He has done a great job to achieve world peace. So proud of all the efforts done by him. Semoga Allah SWT permudahkan segala urusan Presiden Jokowi

It's not easy for our president to talk openly about Russo War, China and Taiwan, and Geopolitical and economical situation in one short interview. He is being pressured inside and outside the country, and still manage to carry all of Indonesia's problem on his shoulder
Zanny was asking some direct questions that were forcing a side, which was kind of unfair and unnecessary for the host of an international convention discussing global issues.
I love how he still remained calm when being asked such provocating questions..

The interviewer's questions......especially in the beginning, is coming from the usual Western dominance point of view. Trying to push Jokowi to pick the Western side of the argument. But kudos to the president for promoting the G20 meeting as an open platform for dialogue to solve major world problems.

That is a great translation! Word by word without missing the concept of what the speaker said.
Since many of the translation on some other video (especially who interview indonesian people talk) that sometimes only write the essential thing or maybe only the point of what speaker said, which can led to misconception from the literal meaning of what speaker want to give.
Prolly cuz Jokowi himself using a pretty basic and simple words to describe his narrative but yet on points without any esoterically terms as like here many oppositions use to talk.
Fun fact, if any of you notice this, Indonesian does have a lot of loan words, Kondisi above is translated as situation but is a loan word from condition and while unnatural in english seems to work fine

While 80 percent of the entries in any English dictionary are borrowed, mainly from Latin, and over 60 percent of all English words have Greek or Latin roots. All the languages that exist in the world today are absorptions from the language of their predecessors and the surrounding languages. Nothing extraordinary about it.

@@Cecilia-ky3uw I think the translator deliberately made some adjustments to make the context more precise, we Indonesians often make mistakes in choosing vocabulary when the meaning is quite close, the word "kondisi" (condition) usually refers to the status of one object (in his context: the world), while "situasi" (situation) refers to a set of circumstances in an event.
There's always something about him. He is a man with many unpredictable layers. People tend to underestimate him, and he tend to leave them treated him that way, just like many his political rivals and enemies mistakes.

President Joko Widodo is fluent in 3 languages:
1- Indonesian Language as the main language in the state.
2- Solo/ Javanese language as the language of its birthplace.
3- English because he is a wood and furniture entrepreneurs for the local market and for the export market. Of course he can speak English fluently.
as a foreigner you may not know how much Indonesian give so much love to this president! since the left of our founding father and first president Soekarno, Indonesia had been led by the military and political figure. we constantly saw corruption and how the world wants Indonesia to be at the bottom but then they busy dig in our resources out of control. (you name it like gold, oil, nickel, deforestation of palm oil) all for the sake of the beneficial foreign company. but he was the first president with civilian background. even though president joko widodo had a strong opposition from the old political era that hate him for a propaganda, but many of ours seen the beneficial of His policy. the economy had growth and now our natural resources were handled by our own not from the foreign company.

Jokowi has brought so much positive change for Indonesia. Most Indonesians are proud to have him as a president. Of course there are people that oppose him, but even so, whether they admit it or not, Indonesia has develop so much under his reign. He built roads in areas that used to be secluded, tourism in Indonesia has become a lot more developed, he also knows how to remain calm and take accurate decisions during hard times. If he can be president much longer, I would keep voting for him

Tons of food are available in Indonesia and are cheap. Even export chicken to Singapore , Japan. Rice is exported to SA in small quantity. Electricity bill is cheap normally 10 _20 usd per household per month. We are grateful to have him as President. Best President ever had.
Usually rice is imported because the local rice is too expensive (higher quality). But for locals, the food and energy prices are still increases. Its a sign of shortages, and increase of needs. The problem is we have a lot of farmers with too small land. If the price is higher, the city people will suffer. If the price is lower, the farmers will suffer. The farmers require further help to lower their living costs, modernize their technique, give cheap fertilizers, seeds, and water. make production cheaper. Then we can have food surplus. After that we can increase exports to maintain prices.

As a Javanese politician, Jokowi will never make some controversial remarks. This man infamously insulted his political opponents indirectly (in round about way). To understand Jokowi mindset, you should know Javanese emphasis on harmonious, pluralism, having an open dialogue with people (even with opponents), transparency. Jokowi slowly turning his political oppositions into allies. He is so dominant in Indonesian politics. I even fear Indonesian will turn to become authoritarian.
