    Very nicely explained..But wanted to know how to change the position ,font & colour of pop up text in video..??

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      iMovie for iOS is a little limited in relation to customizing the text. It only has certain fonts and positions on the screen, you can opt to have it appear in the middle or the bottom of the screen in the sub menu in the text section. However if you want more control over font colour and exact position, I have provided a work around to it which you can find on this video: th-cam.com/video/6lBmIcZ60cE/w-d-xo.html

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much. Glad you liked the video. The text is applied to each clip on the timeline. So if it is only lasting for a few seconds it must be the clip you applied it to. So if you have multiple clips you need to apply the same text to each clip to extend it across the timeline.

    Thank you for providing such a detailed lesson on creating an IMovie. Now I'm still a bit perplexed. The top and bottom of my pictures are being cut off. Is that fixable or do I need to only use horizontal pictures?

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes iMovie for iOS doesn't have an option to crop the images the way you want. when it detects a vertical or portrait crop it will zoom into it and make it fit into the 16x9 horizontal mode. If you want to have more control over how portrait images are used in iMovie you might need to prep them first in an image editing app. I use Adobe Photoshop Mix to do it on my iPhone. You can create an image canvas at 1920 by 1080 in size then add your image and place it in the middle then you can save the image down and it will have a white or black background behind the image on the left and right. Photoshop Mix is a free download with an option to sign up for a free Adobe account I believe. A great mobile image editor....

      This is an unfortunate limitation of iMovie for IOS at the moment. No support for portrait movies. They need to catch up with the times as so many people shoot portrait videos now. I think it will come in an update sometime soon but don't know when. For now try VMaker, its a free app and lets you create a portrait movie. • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much. Glad you liked the video. At this stage in iMovie for iOS there is no brightness saturation or colour balance settings that you can apply inside the app. Only the filters icon that you can apply preset effects to the clips. So if you simply want to change the colour balance, lightness etc, you can do it by editing the clips in the photo editor of IOS first then importing in iMovie.

      You can pinch on videos in the timeline, but if you are wanting to do so with photos it won't respond. So I tend to edit my photo crops in the camera roll then import them.

    Good video! Btw - why isn’t the timecode displayed anywhere in iMovie? It seems like the most obvious, essential, and easy to implement feature for a video editor? It would massively simplify my trimming/cutting work and would be just generally useful to see how many minutes and seconds has elapsed. Is this Apple being difficult again? If anyone has any advice I’d appreciate

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it is not available in iMovie for iOS nor the OSX version as far as I know. They put it on Final Cut Pro which is the high end version of their video editing but not on the entry level iMovie.

    I hate that you can’t export 4K 60fps video. When you click 4K it exports it in 30fps

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is a shame it is limited to 30fps in 4k. For those wandering about this, you can export in 60fps in Full HD (1920 by 1080). However, by default iMovie will export Full HD at 30fps. So if you want to change it you have to go into your iPhone settings, scroll down, tap on iMovie and then enable 60fps export.

    I love this app, however, after I added my movie title I wanted to add Season 1 Eps 1 and there is NO/0 option for adding ANY text or additional title or stickers to movie. (Only One Title) I guess I can record voice or video of text and add it in that way? (More time consuming.) Hoping there is an update?

      You can add multiple titles by splitting the movie clip and adding a title to each clip.

      iMovie will create a 16x9 movie for you which is ideal for TH-cam. In terms of resolution either 1920by 1080 which is HD. Or 4K

    I was wondering if and how you can put the audio from music in sections of your movie not just the entire movie.

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can do that. Tap on the audio track that you just added to the timeline and then tap on the sub menu option that appears at the bottom called "Foreground" The audio clip now goes from green to blue. Now you can tap on the handles left and right and change duration and move along the timeline into any position...

    I’m very thankful of your detailed explanation. I needed this. Have been so long wishing to edit my video recordings looking for the right App unsuccessfully. I tried iMovie a couple of times in my iPhone but it wasn’t creatively enough. Now I see that I only used the templates that are very limiting. Didn’t do the right search for all the features you just showed us. It’s like I woke up to see what it was hidden, but it was there the whole time. I didn’t need anything that I didn’t have in my gorgeous iPad. Thank you for helping me to see what I had and missed. I’m going to have a great Mother’s Day experimenting with my iMovie today. My “new” toy 😅

    Hi, thank you for a great video. I have just made a movie using iMovie, and imported it into my instagram, but some of the photos are cropped and the text I made has been cut down too. What am I doing wrong. I can create for facebook on my computer/ and or using Canva, but importing to instagram I find the sizing is all to pot. Really hope you can help. Many thanks once again. I've just watched your video on Keynote and think that's great too.

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're most welcome! At this stage iMovie can only export to 16x9 widescreen format. Which is fine but when uploading to platforms to instagram which quit often favours square formats you need to make sure you change the default format from SQ to Original Widescreen. When you upload the video to IG there is a tiny icon on the bottom left of the video preview in the first step, it's an icon that has crop marks on it. Tap on it and it will change the crop to match the original video format that you exported from iMovie. See how that goes. Thanks for checking out the videos!

    Hi, I’m new to compiling video clips & editing to make my video’s for TH-cam.
    I started with FilmoraGo & decided to try iMovie since FilmoraGo was becoming a tedious & exasperating experience which led to a ton of time wasting.
    I found your instructional video & it’s excellent!
    I decided to play with a video clip just to see how the process would go & now I am ‘stuck’.
    I am at the point of editing after creating my movie. I don’t want to keep this clip alone, as I want to start from the beginning to make my entire video/movie, but still use this clip in final video.
    There is an option to delete project.
    If I delete the clip at this point through iMovie, will it be deleted from my camera roll /icloud completely?
    Thanks for your help!

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, glad you found my tutorial helpful. if you delete a clip from the iMovie timeline it won't delete it from your camera roll. If you delete the whole project it won't delete your media either.

    Hey everything went well with your tutorial only thing is, what if I wanted music to play only in one part of the video and not during the whole video? How to I edit the audio to only play at certain points of my video??

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great to hear! Sure thing you can do that. Simply tap on the audio track that you will notice is coloured green on the timeline. When you tap on it a sub menu option appears, select Foreground. The audio will now convert from background music to a foreground element and be shown as a blue track on the timeline. now you can scroll to any point on the audio timeline, tap on it and split it and use the left and right yellow bars to drag the in and out points to where you want them on your project timeline.
