I've recently decided to start my own TH-cam channel, but I know nothing about iMovie, or editing in general. This tutorial literally assuaged any anxiety I had about starting!! Thank you so much for putting this up!
I realize this tutorial was posted years ago but honestly it helped me so much. I have like a week to put together a promo video for an art show I am doing and everyone else's tutorials were so ponderous or just gliding over things quickly but you put things into a very understandable way with a good sense of humor. I thank you.
How to create an animation project in iMovie: 1. Draw something (either in book creator or paper) 2. Take a photo of that drawing (screenshot for book creator) 3. Save a photo that would be after the animation 4. Go to iMovie 5. Add frames and photos of the animation in iMovie and then add a photo that would be more than 30 seconds 6. Save the iMovie video 7. Create a new project in iMovie 8. Add that video into this new project and speed the video up 9. Save the video again 10. Repeat what I said at 6, 7 and 8 until you finally get the animation at the speed that you would normally see at cartoons (Really fast) (Well done, you created your animation project in iMovie)
Dude this was the MOST helpful, YT is overflown with videos that make things complicated, YOUR video gives the basic needs for editing that I was looking for! Thanks
I have several videos I want to compile into imovie. I tried to go in on my own to figure it out and simply could not. Your tutorial made it very easy to understand. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this! The majority of people that make these videos keep rambling on about stuff I don’t even care about but you were straight to the point and explained everything I wanted to know! God bless YOU!
Good video Kevin, very helpful thank you. If I may add one thing I hope it will add value. This may help some viewers: At 2:03 If the TH-cam player controls are visible on screen you cannot see the "Import" button on the bottom right of the screen so it looks like Mr. Briggs selects the files and says import files & wala its magic now they are imported! Mac Magic, well he is actually clicking on the Import button on the bottom right which may be hidden by the TH-cam playback controls. Also if you are importing all the files in the folder you dont have to select anything just click the Import All button on the bottom right side of the screen. The import button is a soft button meaning it changes function depending file selection. Hope this helps.
Can I just saying this is my very first MacBook Air I got and very first time editing. Your video was so hands on and easy to follow through. I made and edited a video in under a hour. I am 29 and have autism and am a visual person and this was an amazing video thank you so much :)
Which converter for iMac do you use? How do you get sliding text from center sliding left? How do you keep the text on screen longer than 5 seconds? How do you get video downloaded into iMovie ?
Don't give up, keep on experimenting and trying. If your movies look awful just delete them in iMovie and try again. Read widely and watch the numerous TH-cam videos. I must admit that iMovie is not easy to learn and master but once you get it right you will find that it is a wonderful movie editing program and it's free too. Goodluck!
I have been looking for something like this for a long time. I cannot sit though the long tutorials! Awesome video, quick and concise then we can go from there as our skills improve. Ok, now I going to try everything I just wrote down that you said, thank you so much!!!!
Thank you. I've had iMovie for over 10 years and have sat and gotten myself lost in the options. Now I can start making some very nice movies. Well I can try :D
GOOD GRIEF!!! I have been fiddling with this for day and after watching this, I feel like a pro. Thanks so much for this. I was going to give. I'm glad I didn't.
Good Info to help or Refresh up on your Editing Skills in IMovie.. As a professional Film & Video Editor using Avid I like keeping up to date on my profession.
Good stuff. Concise and to the point. Exactly what I was looking for. Returning the favor... "That's too Much Man" means something significantly different than, "That's too Much, Man." :)
I've been putting off learning imovie for so long. I get overwhelmed so easily. thank you for this video and for making it short and sweet and to the point!
Thanks for the video Final Cut Pro was giving me anxiety so this video helped me out a lot. I am learning so I can make TH-cam videos. So simple and easy to follow!
"I will call this movie: That's Too Much - is much capitalized?" My first thought was: Wow, what a missed opportunity for a Bojack Horsemen reference. But then you didn't let me down!
Thanks for this! Even though I know a lot about stills photography, I don't know anything about creating videos with iMovie. This really helps a lot! Thanks!
i like how you used real examples to show what to do in different scenarios. Most poeple say this is zoom, this is how you add stuff, you can drag this over here, etc. You say oh look i put this clip in the wrong spot, do i need to drag it back, no i can move it into here. i liked and subscribed
made my first video and then I thought I would come here and see what I could learn. it was useful to learn the background colour alteration, one thing you did not mention is that you can import your own music/sound media as well as picture/movie clips, using the exact same method, I think some here might find that info helpful. I send my movie clip to some friends and they opened it in a coffee shop. The result was that people turned around to hear the music. The choice of the correct background music is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT it can make or break the video.
You sir, are a legend ! Couldn't be bothered watching a 50 minute tutorial. Straight to the point !
I know right?
Yeah
I've recently decided to start my own TH-cam channel, but I know nothing about iMovie, or editing in general. This tutorial literally assuaged any anxiety I had about starting!! Thank you so much for putting this up!

This is by far the simplest and best tutorial for I-Movie. I can't tell you how incredibly helpful this is!!!
