you might also like the container store's door or wall mounted wire basket system for your paints. you can see every bottle without digging thru a bin. i love mine.
being organized is challenging. i sort my papers in a similar way. i store them in a rolling cart with wire baskets from the container store. it works well for me.
I love the container store but it can get pricey. My room is coming together. I am trying to have more open space so I don't feel so claustrophobic. I have no window. So less on the walls and more floor space. It feels better already.
Organization is such a time goblin for me. I appreciate your ideas. I tried baskets by color... boxes and drawers seem more logical since I won't be able to toos more random things in them if they are enclosed😂🤪 For me it's always a trial by fire....but it is a ggod project when my creative juices are frozen into cocktails 🍸 😉🤭
If I had more space I would get one of those cabinets from Michaels with all the drawers to sort by color. I'm trying to get everything off the floor and make the room feel spacious. 🙃
Thanks. I agree. I love watching videos where artist show their studios and how they organize things. I watched a ton to see if they showed their recording set up. Thanks for watching my little behind the scenes.
I tear or cut up a lot of my collage papers. Recently, threw out a ton of papers simply because I had no more room to store them. Use a variety of different storage methods. Like to put cut up papers in large ziplock bags sorted according to colour. At the same time, also prefer having open boxes of chaotic pieces because just looking at them inspires my creativity…..lol. I am nowhere near as tidy and organized as you.
I have to be organized or I go nuts. I can't stand to be in the space. And since it's so small I need to tidy up or nothing will get done. I will confess, organization is also a hobby of mine.
Some great tips Susan-thanks! Can you tell me if the fabulous red and yellow paper towards the end is featured in another video, and which one? Just love the coloursand the effect!
Susan, I took a class from Marabeth Quinn and she showed how she organizes her papers. Basically, she uses a Pendaflex file which I did too. I got the folders in colors that represent the papers in them and the cart I bought stores a ton of papers and has a shelf underneath that I use for my unused paper packs, etc.
I tried the folders. It didn't work for me. I came up with this system after trying a lot of things. But everyone needs to figure out the best system for them. Our minds are all wired differently. Thanks for sharing though. And for watching.
@@SusanCliftonArtist so after recommending this, my cart with the folders got stuck, someone, ahem, locked the wheels, and all my folders slipped off. I may transition to flat storage like yours at some point.
I, too, suffer from “hyperpaperdemia,” as I have decided to call it. I use a similar sorting scheme but within each color category I separate the transparents from the opaque. I file them vertically in one of those collapsible open fabric bins and it works like a charm! Also I have a waist-height table with an upholstered rotating stool….. it works great! Hope you feel better. I enjoy watching your videos and made some great gel prints using g your rubber band idea!
This is a great idea for the full piece's, but what do you do with the scraps??,, 🤔.... because I keep all those as well. Some of my favourite pages in my art journal come from the scraps. At the moment, I have an repurposed Amazon box, which I've covered with collage paper, but this box never seems to empty. 😂
The struggle is real! Thanks for sharing your storage ideas.
You're welcome. It can be a struggle. Especially to keep it up.

Thanks for the suggestion but I like the bins. I use them in two different sections in the room so I can just carry it over to my easel.

Sorting collage papers /threads etc.into colours is the bane of my existence 😂 Is it green or is it blue? Is it purple or is it blue! 😂
All we can do is do our best. 😂 It just has to be close and not perfect and I'm satisfied.

That ended up in a Patreon video. Sorry. I will eventually do that technique on this channel. Maybe next month.
Last time I tried to ‘organize’ I lost everything. Some still can’t find. Happens every time. Thanks for sharing 💐💕. Feel better ❤️🩹
Did you label everything? That is important. I'm feeling much better this week. Thanks for watching.

Staying organized is a skillset i struggle with
Takes practice. I love it.

I like that! great name for this obsession we have with paper. 😂
❤❤❤
So sorry to hear that you're sick and struggling with making videos. Papers for me are also overwhelming. Thanks for the ideas.
I'm starting to feel much better. Thanks for watching.

I have a box that fits in my Kallax unit for the scraps. I keep it near by because I always use the scraps in collage.

I'm feeling much better. The virus I had really wore me out. But if you knew my schedule and age you'd wonder how I do it. LOL
Where do you buy the deli paper?
