  • In my first video i lacked giving more information on how to install the serpentine belt of the 2010 kia Forte with the power steering pulley at the top. I really hope this video give a little more insight on how to install it. If and when I do remove and install it again I will make a full video of the process.
    Feel free to message me with questions or if you want me to make a video on a particular item on the 2010 Kia Forte.
    Thank You, Happy holidays.

    Hey thanks for the video this is pretty much the only video of this job on the 2.0L/2.4L Kia Forte. I'll be doing this job this weekend wish me luck.

      You got this. Just take your time, if you get frustrated with the belt walk away, it can be a pain to route it.

    I did this today. I couldn't do this with just going through the top its just too tight for my hands. You can take the wheel off and there is a small plastic shield you can take off with three bolts this was a game changer for me. Also if you google Kia Forte 2.0L Belt Change you'll get a nice map of the belt if you click on images. Anyways wasn't so bad probably took me an hour. Thanks for the video again.

      Were you able to access the tensioner through the side panel? I tried through just the top and it's near impossible with any tool

      Are u turning the tensioner as your trying to pull it over the power steering pump

  • @Stoicistic
    @Stoicistic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I’ll be attempting this tomorrow. When you say turn the tensioner what do you mean? Looking from the top of the bay, do you loosen the actual bolt, or move it in a certain direction like I’ve seen in a few other videos. You said pull down on the tensioner but I’m a little confused. Literally just pull down on the tensioner bolt with the wrench and it will un-tension?

    • @martinacosta6850
      @martinacosta6850  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      BE VERY CAREFUL when doing any maintenance, if you are not sure and cannot do the maintenance do not continue, you could damage your vehicle
      When you pull on the tensioner bolt head with a wrench or ratchet the bolt will not loosen, the tensioner will actually move away from the belt to be able to remove the belt. Now the tensioner will move even further than before.

    Wouldn’t it be helpful to remove the right front tire to get to the tensioner and also to remove the motor mount.

    • @martinacosta6850
      @martinacosta6850  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It would, im pretty sure that's what the manual says, but im showing an alternative way to remove the belt. Without having to remove the wheel, wheel well, and motor mount.

    • @martinacosta6850
      @martinacosta6850  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but this is an alternate way of doing it. If you look at the manual, it will say to remove the wheel and motor mount. But it's possible to do the job without taking those other components off

    Thank you friend. My girlfriend has this car, and the maintenance can be tricky to figure out as a non-mechanic. How many miles does yours have? Mine has 140k miles, and the transmission fluid was never changed - do you think it's worth the risk to change it now or wait? Do you think it still has some life left on it? I need to check out your other videos.

      First of all I'm no expert, this is just recommendation from my personal experiences.
      Is do-able but with automatic transmission i think its harder. Do your research and see if its something you think you will be able to do with your experience and the tools you currently have.
      Automatic transmission have a filter you'll want to replace, there's 2 ways to do a tranny oil change.
      1st drain the oil from the pan and change the filters, disconnect the lines that go to the tranny oil cooler,connect extension hoses then place the inlet to the oil cooler to an empty bucket (old oil is going to be pumping out) Place the return hose inside the gallon or container of the clean ATF (automatic transmission fluid). You have make sure u have enough clean fluid to fill the tranny. Then you would turn on the car and the fluid will start pouring out and clean one sucked in to the tranny. This process I wouldn't recommend because you should have someone with experience that has done it a few times help you.
      The other method you would drain the tranny pan oil change the filter, fill the tranny to where the manual says, then every 5k to 10k miles change the fluid only, this is less effective because you are mixing clean oil with old oil but your less likely to damage the transmission.
      Either way make sure you read and watch videos, I dont have a automatic transmission right now, but there's plenty of videos explaining the process.
      Let me know how it goes if you decide to go either route, good luck.

    Replacing the crankshaft sensor. Do you know the process of what needs to come off & what doesn't. Looks like I need to take off the oil filter block that bolts to the side of the engine but not sure if I have to remove the starter as well. Do you have any info on that. Can't find anything myself on the 2010 Kia Forte.

    You have the other video and how many inches is the belt... I bought a belt that was 101” and wasn’t getting clearance over the last pully...
    I felt I needed more leverage but I bought a belt that’s like .75” longer hopefully it fits

      I learned from someone else that this model vehicle could have different length serpentine belt.
      It is best to call a Kia dealership with your VIN to verify you buy the correct one for your car.
