  • Today I replaced a broken/worn out serpentine belt on a 2014 Kia Forte EX 2.0L engine. All you need is a new serpentine belt, 14mm socket, 12mm socket, and possible a long extension bar.
    Serpentine Belt: Dayco 5060505 (6PK1285)

    Everyone hates the music but they don't realize it's an app or something that helps you make your video, sometimes you have no choice to add or not add music. Thanks for the info on the belt, even tho I was looking for how to replace the timing belt on this car. Hopefully someone does it before on video and with more details on how to change it

      Hey man, thanks for watching. Yes, I've gotten alot of negative feedback about the music. I did it on purpose as a trial-run. If you check out the rest of my videos, they don't have music. Again, thanks for watching and for being positive about the music :) Some people act like its going to be the end of the world because of the music Lol

      @@temosgarage yep they sure do. I will, I have the same car but 2018, I have to do these preventative maintenance because I dont trust the dealership anymore. Thanks again bro. I will be looking at your other vids

    • @temosgarage

      Same here, I dont trust others to work on my vehicles. Since you have a 2018, you still got many years to go before youll need to replace the timing chain.

      @@temosgarage I know that sounds like the case but the thing is I've seen other video's on here as to show me things about the engine i have, seen a video just now about how common problem with this engine is piston slap before 60k miles

      @@temosgarage my reason for looking for other video's was to find out if this engine had a rubber timing belt or a timing chain. And on looking at a video of an engine taken apart for a Hyundai with the same engine it shows it has a timing chain. I drive 20k a year bro.

    Same happened to mine, I have a 2017 Kia sorento and only 57000 miles. Was on the freeway when I noticed the battery light came on had to pull over to check. found the belt belt worn out the same as on your video but slipped out of the pulley. Replaced belt but it's wearing out again will take to dealer service to have checked out car still under warranty. Thanks for the video!

      That is weird. I may have to check the belt on her car again. Thanks for the update.

    My belt is in similar shape on my 2013 Forte EX. Original belt, at 63k miles. I drive better than most people, no flooring it or high speeds. Thanks for the video! Next time, if you're going to add audio, find a more unique source for royalty-free music. That song is used everywhere and a bit distracting!

      melongrab thank you for the feedback. I rarely put music on the background. I was just testing that with this video and will not be putting background music on future automotive work videos. Thank you for watching and for the honest feedback :)

    Grear job. Whats the difference between drive belt and serpentine belt on a 2014 kia forte

    • @temosgarage
      @temosgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s no difference, all mean the same. Engine belt is another term used, which I think is more common; they all mean the same thing at the end of the day.

    Nice vid! Any idea what caused the damage on your 1st belt?

    • @temosgarage
      @temosgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have no clue. Premature wear and tear would be my first guess. I've never seen a broken belt this early before so this was strange. The owner is a college student who likes rev-ups and speed so that could be part of the problem?

    How many miles did you have before this happened

    • @temosgarage
      @temosgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      60-something thousand miles. Pretty early for a serpentine belt to fail like this one did. But the driver is heavy on the foot, so that might explain.

  • @adamstephens1371
    @adamstephens1371 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should not have a torn up belt on a vehicle with 60,000 miles, my forte has 73,000 miles and isn’t worn like that

    • @temosgarage
      @temosgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you. I've seen belts over 100,000 still in good shape. I wish i knew what caused it to fail so early.

    • @ivan23caravantes44
      @ivan23caravantes44 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its because of the climate your in and how long you use it and stress it or not use it and not stress the belt, or if in case you have squirrel's in your neighborhood. They climb in there for warmth sometimes and take a bite out of anything that they feel like it. And then they never tell you.

    Is it the same belt for a 2011

    • @temosgarage
      @temosgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it will be a different belt. Depending on where you live, If you're in the U.S. you can go to any parts store and give them your vehicle's VIN number and they can look it up for you.

      Do you have Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, O'Riley's Auto Parts? They should have the correct belt you need for your car.

    You failed to mention proper alignment cause people can mess up there car the markings are there for a reason I say this cause you were moving the wheel but forgot to tell people to line it back you also failed to post the sequence just cause you put the belt on it doesn’t mean it’s on a proper. sequence is key make sure you know the size of your Engine and follow the proper belt sequence for your type of model engine go to auto zone or pep boys and follow that diagram if you reading this please do your research cause you will pay dearly is video was okay but could have been better he missed key points in just here so viewers know what’s up

    • @eugene4817
      @eugene4817 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's an accessories belt, there is no 'aligning' per say

    • @davidbloomberg9494
      @davidbloomberg9494 ปีที่แล้ว

      You confused Timing Belt with Serpentine / Accessories Belt
      No aligning the Serpentine Belt unless something has bent a bracket somehow. You do need to make sure all the ribs are seated on the various pulleys
