That idler pulley you showed is ribbed. Shouldn't it be smooth? I have two idlers and of course one tensioner in my 2010 Forte with 2.4 L.

why did you need to put the car in neutral?

At 0:30 you said you bought a idler pulley and it got grooves on it. Later on you said you installed the pulley and it was smooth?

Thanks for the video. I replaced the belt tensioner on my 2010 Kia Forte. The new after-market belt tensioner failed after 1 month of installation. Can you tell me which brand of a belt tensioner that you used in the video?

Sorry I do not remember the brand I did purchase it from advanced auto parts. No issues so far with it.

@@avidanaamerica1315 Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me what were the symptoms/problems that you'd noticed before the repair (replacing idler pulley, belt tensioner and side engine mount)?
      * I noticed my 2010 Forte makes rattling noise at 1000-1200 rpm in drive or reverse. The rattling noise seemed to be louder when AC is switched on.
      * Little or no rattling noise at the same 1000-1200 rpm in park or neutral. Also, no noise when pressing down brake pedal in drive. The noise starts immediately after I take my foot off the brake pedal (this is when rpm rises to 1000-1200 from 800).

@@avidanaamerica1315 I replaced the belt tensioner on my Kia Forte for two reasons. 1) I noticed the belt tensioner was moving back and forth at the affected rpms. 2) Using stethoscope, I found the belt tensioner making a loud rattling noise.

    I have a 2013 forte ex 2.0
The car makes rattling noise when in gear.
You can run ac on full in park no noise, put car in gear you can hear noise.
I'm thinking the tensioner could be a problem.
    Also what belt do recommend.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the video.....how long did the job take from start to finish?

      45 min

      Yeah fucking right
Book time to replace tensioner is 1.5 hours
That means it takes 3 hours real world. If it really took you 45 minutes then you are inside of the wrong career. I hate compulsive liars.

I would think the torque to be around 35-40 ft lbs

Did you have a tensioner that was visably moving as well? mine is going back. just replaced my water pump, the water pump housing, housing gasket and the O ring gasket and i replaced the upper idler puler. im scared to replace the tensioner because i tightened on to tight on a 2008 pontiac g4 once and 90 miles later the belt shreadded and it bent the entire crankshaft from the snoutm

My belt was slipping when I turned the wheel. You could feel the wheel surge.

Just use a torque wrench so you do not over tighten it
