When I first started watching football, it was the 2002 World Cup. Klose became my favorite player. Having grown up watching him score all those goals and get those records was an amazing experience. He deserves it. So happy for him.

One of the most memorable games of football of all time. The first half was astounding. Germany took it easy in the second, which is a shame because it could have easily been 10 goals.
Everyone is saying that this was the worst brazil squad ever yet ironically this was the only brazil team that made it past quarter finals since 2002
No one was stopping Germany in this WC. Easily one of the best teams I've ever seen, playing a complete team game. No individuals on that German squad. Brazil just happened to be in the firing line in the game that meant the most, the pressure was huge and their opposition was basically unstoppable.

My dad, a brazil fan, keeps arguing that if neymar and silva had played this wouldn't have happened. But let's be real, just because 2 players were absent (however great they might be) the entire team suddenly went nonexistent? Defence was zilch, the goalie didn't know where to stand, it was just a big huge blank space at Brazil's back! Brazil has always relied a bit too much on its forwards.
This goes to show that Germany is probably the only team which plays like an absolute TEAM. That's why i love them.
I am a huge Brazil fan, but lets be honest, even with Neymar and Silva, Brazil still would have lost this game by at least 3-1 or 4-2 if not more. Either way, Brazil's defence and midfield was so poor on the counter attacking and marking that Germany was going to score at least 3 to 4 goals no matter who is playing. If you look at most of the goals, the German midfield was pressing hard up the field and kept crossing the ball on the ground towards the middle with guys running in to finish off the cross. That just shows the Brazilian midfield is not getting back to defend which is why so many different guys on the German team was scoring goals. Whoever says that the game would have been close with Neymar and Silva clearly does not know soccer and has a false sense of reality. Plus Brazil still got thrashed 3-0 afterwards in the 3rd place game by the Nederland, which shows again the lack of defending. Brazil was horribly coached with terrible midfield players that can't defend and these European teams exposed Brazil easily. Brazil wasn't even that impressive in this tournament even with Neymar and Silva. My dad always said that you can blame a defender (or sometimes a ref) by losing a goal or 2 in the game. But when the other team starts scoring 3+ goals, that is usually a sign that the midfield is completely outmatched. Simple as that.

I agree. Those two are not that special. Brazil's defense was like a spaghetti strainer and the Germans used a honking gigantic fire hose on full blast! Even Ronaldo wouldn't have been able to stop this kind of destruction. Remember, he was on the team when FRANCE crushed them. I saw that match too and thought it would be very close, like 9-8 but the French, like the Germans, kept scoring again and again and Ronaldo and half the Brazilian team looked utterly lost... LOL.
