  • In this week's sailing video we sail Jaygo, our Amel Super Maramu from Townsville where we had her repowered, through to Cairns. We point out a couple of our favourite stops on this passage and when we get to Fitzroy Island just before Cairns, our new motor won't start! Dee also recalls some underwater sound of Whales singing at Fitzroy Island from the last time we were there.

Crikey, what’s the go with box jellies up there when in the water?

Summer time = More risk. Although I have seen them where you might not expect them to be. You have to assess the risk management according to your own risk profile I guess.

A little trick to catching squid is to have two squid jigs and always keep one in the water with a squid on while taking one off the other jig they will hang around till the jig comes back in then repeat 🦑🦑🦑

@Brad.whatthe wow. First time hearing this. They had no issue hanging around but were definitely more wary with the same lure. Do you use different lures when doing this? The ONLY time I have ever had success catching plenty was using pilchards over “old school” jigs. Love to hear more about this. 👍

@@sailingjaygo the way my brother and I would catch them is with pink yozuri squid jigs, one on each rod and always keep one of the hooked squid in the water while unhooking another caught one, the school will always hang around seeing what the fuss is about, tag team style, you’ll have enough for dinner in 5 minutes usually, don’t tell anyone it’s a secret okay 👌
