- In this weeks video we sail from Stanley Island on the Great Barrier Reef to Margaret Bay as we continue North toward the very tip of Australia. We have everything from no wind, then light wind, then 25 knots. It came from just about every angle as well. Sometimes we motored, but mostly we had a great sail. We used our spinnaker, ballooner & all three working sails. In the end we had a very fast reach to our destination. As usual Dee wanted to race the other three boats heading to the same place!
Everybody knows one boat is a cruise, two boats are a race - even cruisers. I'm catching up with your videos as we have been on our first cruise of the season across to Yorke Peninsula. Full sailing kit each day for us though!
Hey David, yes it has been fun watching Dee claim she is not a racer anymore. Glad you are out on the water, full kit or otherwise. 👍
Almost first words, "it's a race" lol. Even with engine use, I'm surprised Dee didn't work out individual time penalties for engine use to get a result lol. Stay safe.
Hey John, Dee is pretty simple with that. Sail as much as you can but first anchor down gets the result. It’s pretty funny to watch her pretend that it’s not racing but cruising! Blowing past a catamaran gets her going (even though we used to race on catamarans). 😁
Nine knots is pretty good, what's your hull speed?
@terryblack8178 I think from memory that hull speed is around 8.6 - 8.7 but we can frequently maintain over that in the right conditions. 👍
