Can't keep up at the moment and I know a new episode is already out and I am sure you've gone with the WWSD and taken McCalpine which I fully concur with. Also would be interested in perhaps Catcher Brian after that. Egglestone would be my pitching pick and with so few available I think I would take him with the supplemental, good set of pitches and other than weak movement the rest looks decent and with some work in the lab he could be useful down the line. Have you ever seen this dearth of players from one side of the ball previous versions of the sim?
On this draft I have a hard time to see if any of these guys will ever make it to the show before next OOTP version pops up, and the end of this very cool adventure with the A's. Question on many more seasons you will have time to play. But Eggleston looked good on many areas and would have been my pick if he would have been available. Even good demands. If no gambling McCalpine I guess. After all he might be noble 😇 Now that Tengiz bloke would be something, if not only for the name. Not many in MLB with possible Russian descent. Very weird with few pitchers picked in 1st round and even in the mockdraft. Is pitching a dying breed in 2040s ? Or is it that you just played too far into the future. 😂 OOTP starting to mess up things.
McCalpine is my first choice by far; after that I like Brian (good Def & Off for catcher), Harmon and Whack. Wouldn't mind seeing the details on Canadian closer Nelligan for later possible consideration. It may be that the save has been slightly corrupted along the way, good thing the new version is coming in March. I think we might be able to get a couple pitchers in the 3rd to 9th rounds that are value pickups. Good luck!
Thank you for taking a look. We picked up a young C, Marquis Whack, in the fifth round two years ago out of Texas. If we also end up with Mel Whack out of New York, I'm going to pretend that they're cousins trying to realize their fictional big league dreams in the same organization...
The lack of pitching certainly seems like an issue, teams are gonna be fielding some really bad pitchers in coming years and offense is just gonna explode bc the pitchers can’t pitch. Lock up your youngsters while you can! (That last part is somewhat of a joke given our payroll constraints)
No need to over think it - grab mcalpine while you can and then figure out the rest from there. Maybe grab one of the pitchers you like with the supplemental pick since there are so few good ones.
Marquis is an obvious 1st pick. Then I'd take one of the 2 SP, with only a pick between you you'll be able to get one of them. Your staff isn't getting any cheaper n dispite the weird AI it still takes pitching to win. Later rounds I'd hope for the C and then for Whack
WRT the lack-of-pitchers problem, I'm pretty sure you can adjust the balance of pitchers/position players in the league settings somewhere. As for the draft, I'd take McCalpine and Mr. Brian, should they both remain available. If not I'd also look at Mr. Twaddle or Mr. Harmon.
Thanks for the scouting reports! It will be hard for me to let McCalpine last past my pick... but still trying to keep an open mind and think about all the options more deeply.
McCalpine is my choice. I wouldn’t waste time trying to develop him as a two-way guy. Just let him hit. I’d want Eggelston of the pitchers and hope I can help the movement in the development lab. His pitch mix is the best of all of them in my opinion. I think I’d try to go with another position player with the supplemental pick and hope one of the pitchers falls to your second round pick. Regarding the pitcher quality, you may want to generate some pitchers in every draft who are high quality prospects. You can do that in commissioner mode.
Thanks for taking a look! Apologies that I missed this as I had started working on the episode. But McCalpine was definitely the choice of the people! I like your plan. And I like Eggleston a lot too!
Surprising you still got no players over 20m on your roster. Iwata in some years will be one, but I'm sure you dump him before that. Believe that will be hard for teams IRL going into 2040s with no one earning 20m or more in teams. But it's proof that you really handling financials as the best. Really would have loved to see you handling an NBA team with a game that got all that leagues twists with financials. So far more complicated than OOTP I think. That latest trade with Davis and Doncic was really surprising. After all I'm an old Lakers fan from my days in that city, so it needed to be looked at on the financial aspect on it.Three team deals to balance salaries are a cool thing that takes some thinking. This weekend was wild and stunning when hearing Canadians boo US National anthem in NHL and NBA games. Things are really twisted back in ones old home now. Maybe an expansion team returning to Montreal will be put long into the future. At least 4 years, he-he.
I'd go with McCalpine. Highest talent available, positive personality and cheap. You may need him to throw some meatballs in a few years with the lack of pitching talent available.

Appreciate you taking a look, and agree it may make sense to try to grab some pitchers to try to get the best of the slim pickings that are available!
I think McCalpine is a fairly obvious first pick, beyond that I like Harmon, Brian and Whack in that order (side note: love the name Whack)

Haha, hilarious! What are the odds!

Thank you for the scouting report. This might be the first-ever unanimous decision from the Worldwide Scouting Department!

Thanks for the scouting reports! I do like the idea of layering some pitching into what we do.

McCalpine
Sorry, I missed this as I was working on the episode. Glad to know you were still on the same page as the rest of the WWSD!

Good point. While I'm looking down his arm potential right now, that could be a good starter in a decade!
