Nice overview of the MENUS and I use this camera 📸 with adapted prime lenses most often. It's shockingly great when you know a bit about the menu options and navigation. 😮
Yeah, the slt-a57 is an awesome camera!! Full Frame mirrorless cameras coming in 2014 if you want to wait ;) The Nex-6 is the best for the EVF, but the nex-5r is also really awesome. the Hybrid AF makes a huge difference in af performance.
Can you please me ? I recorded videos from this camera but when I loaded to the computer it is showing up as (.arw files and .jpg ). how to fix this Problem ?

Thanks Jay for all of your fine videos. Watching this one helped me to understand better all of the the settings on my NEX-5R that I've had since the end of November of last year. Far from under-featured (photo-wise) smartphones being the only cause of the shrinking fixed lens P&S camera market, the 3N's price undercuts Sony's own RX100 by $150(U.S.), comes w/ a kit lens that sells for $350 alone, & is < .25" taller & barely over .4" wider than the RX100 P&S @ it's higher price point.

Is there a way to remove the menu and mode writing all the way to the right of the camera? it is on in every setting? I just want a screen with only the image on it? Thanks.
Great video. I've got the F3, but I think it's similar, and wondered whether I could ask you something please? I find when I'm turning the thumbwheel quickly it often treats it as a key press, so instead of adjusting aperture/shutter speed, I end up in shooting mode, ISO adjustment, etc. Is that normal, or does it mean my thumbwheel is worn/dirty, etc...? I'd be very grateful for your thoughts.

hi I just recently purchased sony nex 3n, but under maximum size it goes to 14m only? It does say that it is 16 mp on the front of the box though... Any suggestions?

In spite of its size, the Sony A57 is looking more and more appealing at only $90 more than the NEX-3N, and its lenses are so much cheaper too. Decisions, decisions :-)

I really wouldn't want to spend more than buying the camera. & i assume that Raw files with good editing actually look better than the jpegs most of the time? Since smaller sensor cameras tend to do fine with the Jpegs, this is a larger sensor in a compact, so Raws can be improved on compared? thanks again
Really sorry for the delayed reply Daz Weston With the 16-50mm kit lens the raw files show pretty heavy distortion on the 16mm end. It's not near as bad at the 50mm end though. All correctable in post processing, but I honestly prefer the 18-55mm kit lens for photography. No powerzoom makes it not so good for video though. The powerzoom is also nice for a newer user. Raw files with good editing will always look better than jpeg files in my opinion. You can selectively edit raw files much further than jpegs. Much more editing latitude thanks to all the extra information stored in the file itself. The raw editing software can pull that information out in post. Almost all of that extra info is lost when saved as a jpeg. You can edit jpegs also, but not near as much. Check out my Lightroom 5 - Editing Raw files videos for much more detailed info on that!

Okay, I have an issue. I'm new to most anything to do with camera lingo but I was looking for something that was going to produce beautiful shots, that could prove easy to use but that I could improve upon as I learned more about the camera. So I kind of made a leap after reading reviews on many cameras and bought this one. I love the image quality and the ease of use, but I'm disappointed in the zoom capabilities. I feel this is something I should have figured out before I bought the camera and had I understood lingo. I'm wondering if you could recommend a good zoom lense available or if you would suggest returning the camera and just purchasing a different one with a better zoom? I don't understand the numbers on the lenses! Gah! I'm trying but I don't understand what numbers makes a good zoom lense. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry that is going to be hard. Some cameras depending on where they were original sold are harder than others I've heard. What you need to try and do is reset to factory defaults. It's in the set-up menu and you can see it in the video above @ 20:23. Good luck, Jay

As well, the 3N's 16-50mm pancake power zoom kit lens only adds 1.3" (3.3cm.) to the back to front depth of the camera.

I would look at either the 55-210mm lens for one of the nex- style camera's, or the amazing RX10 if you want the best all in one option Jacob Fisher
