      I absolutely LOVE hearing birth stories. You are so strong and Ariella is completely beautiful! Near the end of your video, you expressed your fears about future pregnancies. I want you to know my first birthing story is VERY similar to yours, except that my baby boy was born with the umbilical cord strangling him. He was blue and it looked like he had died. The nurses whisked him away and put oxygen to his face and he started crying! Praise God! He was ok! I have had 4 more children since then, all without ANY pain meds. Niki, it gets easier every time. Your body will remember this experience, and it will actually CRAVE the sensation of giving birth after a few years have gone by. I am so so so happy for you! I prayed with you all the way through this, and I am thrilled with the joy bundle that God has placed in your arms!

    Niki, I am so sorry you had such a traumatic experience. I’m going through nursing school right now, and your story is inspiring me to be the best nurse that I can be for my future patients by listening to them, and taking them seriously so that they don’t have an experience like yours. Thank goodness your little one is ok and that she is home safe and sound with you two. Congrats on starting your new chapter in life 💕

      When I had my first child the nurses in triage had the same attitude. I was in unbearable pain and when they checked me I was only 1 cm. The nurse told me to "suck it up" because I had a long way to go. I was devastated and crying as I also have a very high pain tolerance. They sent me home I gave birth one hour later as an emergency natural delivery in the ER. I am a nurse now and my experience taught me--- always always treat the patient not the numbers! If the pain is disproportionate to the clinical picture then do not ignore it.
      My second and third labors were also very quick, I did get an epidural with the third one and in my opinion it wasn't worth it. My lower back was sore for weeks compared to my naturals deliveries.

    • @NurseOnDuty117
      @NurseOnDuty117 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don’t think her nurses weren’t listening to her....i think they were hesitant to check her if her water is broken because there’s more chance of infection with each exam and there’s a protocol to admitting someone for labor. As a labor and delivery nurse I see this every day and in the end she got her natural birth which is what she wanted. She will definitely need to tell them she has fast labors if and when she has her next one then they’ll act more quickly.

    • @hiwall4883
      @hiwall4883 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NurseOnDuty117 Any experienced nurse/midwife should be able to tell how fast the labour is going, if contractions are happening back to back like that, it usually means things are progressing faster than expected.

    • @NurseOnDuty117
      @NurseOnDuty117 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      christine walker true but going that quickly is typically not the norm for a primip. Thankfully they checked her in time for the doctor to make the delivery

    I don't think anyone can or should judge the way a woman gives birth. One has to do what is necessary in the moment. Both of my births were quite traumatic, but at the end of the day I was SO blessed that both my boys were healthy. I believe that our brains help us to put the birthing experience behind us and focus on the baby! AND, to be willing to have another baby.
    Congratulations on your beautiful little girl! You ARE a SUPERHERO!

      @@NikiSky That's the great thing about having had my kids 30 and 27 years ago! Only pictures!
      I had acute appendicitis during my first labor. I also have a very high pain tolerance, so my mother stepped in, got in the doctor's face, and told him, "Something is very wrong with my daughter!" They rushed me to have a C-section, opened me up and my appendix was about to burst.

    Thank you for sharing your story with us. I had "rapid birth" as well. With my first son, I went from 3cm to 10 cm in 2 h, and birthed in less then 5 pushes (and yeah, I tore as well). With my second, they didnt want me to go to term for fear of me birthing at home or in a car, so I had induction scheduled for Monday
    Went into labor on Sunday, 2 weeks early. Woke up in labor and fast drove to hospital- was 9 cm dilated on arrival. Birthed him in less then 1 hour after. My OBGYN told me to "stop pushing- just cough" So, I coughed him out.
    This was 9 and 7 years ago. In Toronto as well
    Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl!!!

    Wow what a powerful story. I can’t begin to imagine how that felt. I’m sure many women actually have PTSD after giving birth. How could you not?! I’m so happy for you, and your family, and also so grateful that you and baby are doing great. This is a difficult journey as a woman, so challenging, but girl you got this! You have 16 hours from the time your water breaks to have your baby. If you go past 16 hours there is a high risk of infection. That's what my doctor told me.

    • @Miss_SkiPp_8812
      @Miss_SkiPp_8812 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the states I think it depends on whether you go to a "normal/standard" hospital with a birthing wing, or if you go somewhere like Winnie Palmer which is for women and babies specifically. When I had my son, we went straight back, as soon as my water broke. I got to eat and everything a few hrs before I had him. I was high risk as well, so that couldve been a factor, I also pre-reigstered so they knew to expect me around a 3 week period of time. Im not sure those things make that big of change aside from being high risk. Which from her story sounds like she was.

    Here in mn, they break your water a lot of times when your in the birthing rooms to get things moving if your labor is taking awhile. Things always moved quickly for me once they did that. So im suprised the nurse had told you the opposite

    From my first contraction, until delivery, was 1 hour, with my first child. So many people said, “You’re so lucky!” What people don’t realize is how traumatic it can be to have such a rapid labor. One would have to experience it to have a clue what it’s like.

    Congratulations! I have also had 2 natural births with no epidural and although it was very painful, it was the best experience of my life. I too labored for 14 hrs to go from 0 to 4 cm, and then within an hr, my 1st baby was born! For my 2nd baby, the whole process was less than 5 hours. With no epidural, your baby is more alert since the drug does go into the baby's body as well and so baby can latch better.

    Your story brings back my memories from 43 years ago! I remember it vividly and relived the birth with you! My first baby took 4 hours and the 2nd baby was born almost instantly as we arrived! Your next baby will come quickly--get to the hospital as soon as labor starts.
    Your whole story is worse than mine. Women should watch this video before they get PG!

    Congratulations on your new baby. I was a childbirth educator and spent many hours in labor and delivery. I also have very fast labors and I would say, if you ever have another baby go to the doctor or hospital right away when you start feeling contractions. If not you might be delivering in your car. That is what happened with my daughter and her second baby. From her first contraction til the baby was born, in the car, was an hour and 45 minutes. When they’re ready they are ready. So many blessings to you and your family .

    Listening to your labor story was like listening to mine!!!! I broke my water at 8 in the morning and gave birth at 11, three hours later, and pretty much every thing you said happend to me in the same way it's unbelievable!!!! I also don't remember many things because I wasn't able to think or listen or speak, I honestly didn't ask for an epidural because I wasn't able to think of asking!!! I was just like in trans screeming my head of too! But now my baby girl is 3 and another baby is on it's way, it is true we forget the labor pain easily even if it can be traumatic. Breast feeding was also another great Struggle but it was worth it. If You think of having another baby You have to do perineum massage, so your won't tear. Thank You so much for sharing it was so nice to listen to your story and remember mine! Congratulations!!! Take care of Your little angel ❤❤❤
