I think the best treatment and the most sustainable treatment with the least side effects or almost no disadvantages are herbal plants that come from pure strains and are not GMO plants. In the past, when people did not use pesticides, almost all types of vegetable food in my country had very good medicinal properties. For example, green curry is very delicious and has a very fragrant smell. The green curry soup also contains many herbs such as fingerroot, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, eggplant, basil, coriander root, white pepper, and many other things that add deliciousness to the soup. The previous generation was very healthy and almost did not take chemical medicine like today. Excellent.🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶
Just for your info, herbs are not GMO. GMO crops are mainly corn, wheat canola, potatoes, egg plant, papaya and a few others. I don’t think there is such a thing as GMO herbs 😊
Very informative and helpful. Thank you both for this. I'm a machinist, and working with metal gives me lots of small cuts and scrapes on my fingers and hands. At 48 years old, these minor injuries don't heal nearly as fast as they used to. I'll give it a go at making a salve like this and see if it helps my heal faster. Much love from the US ❤
@Australian_Medicinal_Herbs Thank you very much. I'll see if I can find a place that has those. If not, I'll have to grow some for myself when spring arrives.
My 17yo is making some comfrey salve right now. The only vodka we have is vanilla essence, though, but the internet tells me that's anti-inflammatory too, so we're going for it.
Been making salve for about a year now, playing with my different ingredients, consistency and recipes. Starting to grow a variety of remedy plants and it feels so purposeful Thank you and Elle for sharing and I look forward to reading the PDFs Cheers 💚
Mr Weedy, thank you for your exquisite films, packed with knowledge and step by step how to. I am very interested in Ethnobotany. So wonderful to see plant medicine videos Elle…. brought to life by Weedy’s incredible eyes and editing.
Love this one! Thank you both! I am just beginning my journey with growing and learning about herbs. It is fascinating! I appreciate these collaborations! ~~Lisa
Hey weedy, love the video as always! I am starting a permaculture project in western NY USA, and was curious what drone you use for your aerial shots? Also, just wanted to let you know that your movie was one of the most important videos I watched while I was going through the "do I really have what it takes to do this?" phase. Keep up what you are doing, it is positively impacting humanity
Love these videos of how to use plants (other than eating). How long does the salve last; six months, a year, or perhaps forever? Does the efficacy change with time?
Chat gpt is a lot faster than me, and probably more accurate, but just ask and it will say… A salve made from comfrey-infused olive oil and beeswax can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on how it is stored and the quality of the ingredients. However, the salve may lose its potency over time as the active compounds in comfrey degrade. Here's a breakdown: Factors Affecting Shelf Life Storage Conditions: Keep the salve in a cool, dark place to prevent oxidation and spoilage. Use a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. Stability of Olive Oil: Olive oil can oxidize and turn rancid over time. The addition of beeswax helps stabilize it, but the oil's quality and freshness at the time of making the salve are crucial. Preservatives: If no natural preservatives (like vitamin E oil) are added, the salve is more likely to degrade faster. Contamination: Ensure clean tools and hands are used to avoid introducing bacteria or mold. Loss of Effectiveness The active compounds in comfrey, such as allantoin, can degrade with time and exposure to heat, light, and air. After about 1-1.5 years, the potency of the salve may noticeably decrease, though it may still have some moisturizing or soothing benefits. Tips to Extend Shelf Life Add antioxidants like vitamin E oil to slow down oxidation. Store in an opaque or amber-colored jar to protect it from light. Keep it refrigerated to extend the shelf life, though it may harden in the cold. By following these steps, your comfrey salve will remain effective for as long as possible, but using it within the first year is ideal for maximum benefits.
I recently used a comfrey salve to remove a skin growth with great success (my doctor had already burnt it off 3 times over 8 weeks but it kept on coming back). That comfrey salve really lasts well and it looks like the day I bought it in 1996. I bought in 1996 for my daughter’s nappy rash. She is 28 years old now.
Hi, yay! Glad I stumbled onto you guys, adorable 😊 just a couple of questions: What can you use instead of a crockpot? Would a Bain Marie of some sort on the stove or ín the oven do the trick? And if making a salve of only comfrey be good for osteoarthritis pain relief in the hands and other areas?
Thank you for the great videos! Wondering if you can cover making a salve with no heat? I'm off grid in Hawaii with a solar system too small to run heating elements (for now! Someday I'll have more juice! 😁) Aloha! 😊
Thank you-Love a good salve! And I have never heard the vodka tip. I have heard that, for the most part, the aerial parts of herbs are more potent when harvested in spring and early summer, and roots in fall. Is this info accurate?
I don't know if you have chiggers there but where I live they are a bane....what herb might you recommend to stop the horrible itch that chigger bites have? BTW, It's much worse than a mosquito bite...I have used jewel weed which helps but not enough. comfrey gets things healed faster but still looking for the missing itch killer ingredient.

I love seeing Elle. I wish she had a channel with move video's about medicinal plants, salve's, tinctures etc. She has loads to share. Thanks Elle
She would like to but has challenges with filming and editing, so she comes here every now and then
Me too! I'd love to see more natural remedies recipes.

If you can get your hands on some yarrow and chickweed that should be helpful. Let us know how you go with it 😊
@Australian_Medicinal_Herbs Thank you very much. I'll see if I can find a place that has those. If not, I'll have to grow some for myself when spring arrives.
Add some dried calendula flowers and the contents of a couple of vitamin E oil capsules into the mix for an extra boost.. Bless.x
@@veeness523I agree ! I use calendula, plantain,rosehips in mine!
Very interesting and straight to the point - I like your videos! You got a new fan!

What a compliment to your garden, done with such Beauty and help.
Wonderful insights Weedy and Elle. So helpful seeing how to select and prepare these medicinal plants. Thank you!
Loving the content Weedy see you in the next episode. Out to do some chores in the garden and collect some of my comfrey.

Lots of great information on nature Healing ❤
Do you need to wait for the water to evaporate after misting the herbs with vodka?
Five minutes to let it work
I just leave it for 5 mins and it’s still moist when you put it in the jar. I have found it to create a better salve.
Nice one Weedy, wonderful vid...

I got some from the health shop I had an herbalist
Hi, thank you both for the amazing information, may I ask where you are located in Australia - interested in the climate you grown in 😊
Hello 😃 Our Weedy Garden is located in the Northern Rivers area of NSW, subtropical region. Cheers Heather (Mrs Weedy) 💚
Thanks Heather, you have beautiful gardens. I hope mine go as well in southern downs Queensland 😃
Place the spout so it’s pouring out of the top for an easier pour.
How do you dry the herbs, please?
New York in the house beautiful ❤
great thank you 🌱

You could use a fire.
Use gas, a fire, solar. Surely you can make some heat. Otherwise just let it infuse for a few weeks in the bottle
Thank you-Love a good salve! And I have never heard the vodka tip.

That would make sense yes 👍
Love you are amazing beautiful organic is good way to be love people's rights thank you
❤
ive got a friend with gnarly gout. would a comfrey salve help him at all? or would it make it worse given its a frowth on the bone?
Is there another alternative to beeswax? I find it to be very drying
What is the shelf life of these salves?
A year or so
Is there another alternative to beeswax? Something more moisturizing
just use the oil then
You Rock my neice told me about you
I was wondering, is the pot necessary? Can I let the herbs infuse on a dark, dry space for some weeks and then continue with that recipe? 🤔
yes. As Elle said, it only makes it faster
@TheWeedyGarden Thank you 🙏🏻
